The reason that this is happening is that we did not, frankly, humiliate Japan enough following the war. If one is to really think about it, the Japanese almost got off scot-free in terms of war crimes and economic reparations. Hell, the Japanese Emperor was never even brought to trial for the many war crimes he caused (such as numerous mass suicides)! It's true that deliberately humiliating a country post-war is wrong; but the Japanese needed it to remove their bloated national ego.
