Wikipedia says this guy is 5"8 no way that means his shorter than me? and im 70 kg LOL omg his in heavyweight division with such small reach? "gulp" legend for sure, he inspires me
@LovmaynMusic you might be right but cant tell since boxing gloves are designed to protect hands not heads. if tyson hit someone like that without gloves he'd brake his fists for sure. and when igor was a kick boxer he had the same boxing gloves as boxers he has the highest ko ratio of any other in history including boxing and none of them were with kicks ironically no shit. so yeah boxing gloves make a huge difference.
but PRIME Mike Tyson would KO him in a pure boxing fight - Tyson's raw power, explosive punches, technique and speed is to much for Igor... and every one else to handle
@DannyG2k9 Begin with Judo or any grappling sports or boxing but focus on ONE Sport/martial art. DO it even if you dont like it i used to be a striker i changed for bjj i used to hate it at the begining but now i love it. And you might end up just liking boxing then do a boxing Career etc.
mike zambidis reminds me of igor vovchanchyn same style. thats the way i have advise for for short people that want to get into heavyweight you need body mass and powerfull punching use your lack of hieght to your advantage if your short make your stance even lower you'll have better balance and be harder to get hit bobb up and down speed work agility is the key.
thats true would have been cool to see igor arrive later in the sport now even. multi skillek he wasnt but you didnt really need to be back then. im not sure how manny mix fighters these days could have 3 or 4 30 minute fights in one night. bare knuckles. mind you. they put there bodies through hell back then. didnt have any gas left in the tank when pride came along.
@jastvo Not true at all. They have padded records against lesser opponents. Although, they might be considered some of the best in the history of MMA right now.
To me Igor Vovchanchyn really represents the early days of MMA, when fighters were expected to face 3 opponents they had never heard of in one night. These days many fighters have surpassed him technique wise, but I don't think there have been many who can match his toughness and pliability.
you know what makes him cooler? the fact that he only had two real losses in his career due to pride refs and their ear pieces, he's even more of a MMA Deity than we think ;)
Credit should be given to Sherdog. This highlight video was posted on their site quite a few years ago. The original song was Ready To Go by Republica. It is pretty lame how these videos get recycled by numerous users without proper credit being given.
Anybody know where I can find the fight between Igor Vovchanchyn and Leonardo Castello Branco? Please Help! Thanks!

absolute bad ass. Similar to Fedors fighting style
ADZ01982 2 years ago
Igor believes Fedor has modeled his striking style after himself.
He may very well be right. If not, two extremely similar styles of striking.
Both men have my utmost respect.
