  • Sweet and kind of sad. :)

  • I love Brenda's recording of this song. Better than Piaf's? The returns aren't in yet.

  • I had a hard time finding this song- it is just great-

  • @tennesseedog1000 : "Goggle it under the title": "If you love me,really love me" then Edith Piaf's version will show up but you'll also see Brenda Lee's verson. I'm a great lover of Eidith Piaf's singing -- but I love Brenda Lee's version. Take your pick.

  • sigh.......beautiful. XX

  • spot on

  • i know this song from korea drama - Its Okay Daddy's Girl .

    lolzzzz.

but its very nice old song .

  • I love Piaf's --- version, and was surprised that I like Brenda Lee's version, just as much. Surprised.

  • I agree. But best sung in French.

  • not bad but I will always love Piaf's original version the best

  • With high respect to Ms. Edith Piaf, the original French version, Brenda Lee is the best version ever.

  • What a beautiful song....love Brenda Lee. Awesome video images. Happy Weekend to you :)

  • i love hearing something in a movie/tv show/advert whatever searching and finally finding it and then to see in the comments other people did the exact same thing.

It feels like I finally got to the middle of a hedge maze and now im having a picnic in the middle with all the other people who managed to find it to :)

    127 hours FTW

  • The story goes that Brenda spent a couple of months in Paris in 1959 when she was 14. Her manager bought some Edith Piaf records and encouraged his little rock and roller to listen to them. She was quick learner! Imagine recording this track at 15 years with all the confidence and emotion of an adult.

Suggestion to uploader: You might want to put ""Hymne à l'Amour" in the description and/or tags for easier search.

  • I do not know what the best version ... with Maysa in Portuguese, English or with Brenda in the original French with Edith ... are three beautiful versions each with its peculiarities and charms ... I love every one of these three very different women and unique!

  • Great version of this great song. Also, Kay Starr and Nana Mouskori (spelling?) had good renditions.

  • Edith Piaf, " Hymne à l'Amour" is the original. This is a really good interpretation and translation.

  • After listening to all versions of this song, I would say that this is the best version from one of my most favorite singers.

  • @jbtorrijos - thanks for your appreciation.

  • @jbtorrijos Edith Piaf's original is, to my mind, the best ( 'Hymne à l'Amour)

  • I agree. The best version of this song that I've heard ---- and this comes from a staunch Edith Piaf fan.

  • @jbtorrijos: You couldn't have said it better than I. I, too, am a Brenda Lee fan. Better than Piaff's version? It's a toss-up.

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only one that had to do some research to find this song from 127 Hours, haha.

  • Brenda Lee (along with Sergio Franchi) had the most appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. She is credited with 31 appearances. Lovely voice in popular music.

  • Love this song. It's a shame the Esther Phillips version isn't on YouTube. That one's my favourite... (it was in 127 Hours too!)

  • Does anybody know what year Brenda recorded this version of the song? Please respond if you know, I need it for research!

  • @meowdragon - hi! thanks for visiting my channel. the song was recorded on september 1, 1960 and it was first released on audio album Emotions on april 3, 1961.

  • @mytokar Thanks so much! Thats means this song has been out 50 years and is now public domain in Canada and I can use it for my student film!

  • "when at last our life on earth is through, I will share eternity with you" this is my answer to someone that "virtually" took hold of my heart to his question "what am I to you". It's a very beautiful song. I sung this one song in an amateur contest when I was nine years old and won first prize: bottle of coke! I had to have that coke, was too expensive to buy and in the mountains there was no place to buy it.

  • "Little Miss Dynamite"!!! One of my favorite

songs by Brenda Lee! I just love her voice

and the songs she sings! Been a fan of hers for a very long time. She's fabulous!!

Met her after a concert some years ago and she is so gracious to ALL of her fans.

She takes the time to see every single

person who waits in line to see her and

signs autographs the whole time too!!
