hey! would you recommend in buying the whole set in that later on i may want to buy another and that buying them all separately would cost me a bomb! or should i just buy the one i want (the foundation brush) as a starter brush because i haven't tried anything like this before...plus wasting my money on something i don't need is not what i want to do. xxx
You can buy the brushes by iherb.com. If you want anything from this site, I have a cupon code if you want order the first time: VIK284 and you have 5$ off.
I don't know if you shop at Costco. But they sell makeup brushes made by their brand, kirkland. I got them and they actually work really well. Very soft and their full size brushes. just a little fyi.
wow! first video i've seen from you. I love that your style is a bit crazy but you seem so down to earth!! your voice is so nice to listen to and you are so informative :) thanks for the review and i look forward to more ~ I subscribed!!
I want these brushes too! Cora! I would love to see your line of brushes with hairs to match your hair color, and slogans like "rock it in the socket" that would be such a fun set of brushes vintage or tacky glamor doll eyes collection. Think about it Cora, I will be your first customer.
15.99 dollars in the US? Here in the UK they're 21 POUNDS, which is probably around 25 dollars o.O and you can't even get them in stores, have to order online. wow. nice video though :)
@vintageortacky: you rock! These brushes are nice quality esp. for the amazing prices. Just don't be locked into using each brush for what it's labelled as... once you free yourself you'll learn that the "crease brush" gets used by pixiwoo for concealer! Etc.
@lucida95: you can only get these brushes through Ulta, but there's a website so you can get them in the mail vs. going to a store. Really easy- Ulta.com!
love the real techniques brushes. i've bought the core and the eye set a few months ago and none of them have ever lost a single hair! compared to the sigma brushes, they're cheaper and have a better quality, i just wish there were more of them! :)
Just bought a bunch of these and can't wait to use them. Great review by the way Cora! You are my favorite guru on you tube because you are real. Keep up the great work.
Hi i just subbed to your channel. Can you do a tutorial using the stippling brush? I know you said you dont use it but I would love to learn how to use it.
I love your hair this length! Or any length, really. You inspired me to go back to an a-line, but I'm ready for it to grow out some now! lol keep the great videos coming! :)
i really really like your videos.. =) im looking to buy myself my first set of brushes and i was supposed to get a set of 12 from sigma but after watching this looks like im getting real techniques brushes. i have small eyes though.. so im not going to get the eye brushes.. but the face brushes look fab! what eye brushes would you recommend? =) also, whats the difference (in terms of use/ brush density/size) bet the buffing brush (in the core collection) and the stippling brush? thanks =)
these are going on my christmas list. Also I love the contrast between your eye makup, hair and eyebrows. That might sound a bit strange, infact i'm sure it does. But I know what i mean lol.
your hair is sooo cool i cliked on this obviously because i wanted to learn more about real technique brushes (which i did by the way) but also beacuse i saw yor hair i was like wow!!!!
Cora, I totally agree with you with the Contouring brush! I LOVE that brush for foundation and too wish they sold it separately, I would buy like 4 of them! Great review!
I use that contour brush for Foundation too and I LOVE IT...So glad someone else agrees with me. Also, get the kit for eyes...there is a dome shadow brush in that collection that is the BEST CONCEALER brush every. You look airbrushed and perfect.
I use my contour brush for foundation too! I had previously purchased a round foundation brush like that and loved it, so when I found this too small for contouring, I used it as a foundation brush and really liked it. Fantastic price point too!
I freakin' love these brushes! I now own 2 of the core collection. I use one buffing brush for my liquid foundation and one to apply blush. I use one contour brush to contour (give it a chance, it's good!) and one for highlight. Obviously I could just clean off my brushes between colors, but if I want to use all of them in the same look it's easier to have doubles. The other two brushes I'm kind of "meh" on. I do kind of like having 2 detailer brushes though for use as lip brushes.
I've been on the fence about trying these (I am also a total whore of the brush variety) but I think I will now that they have the Cora seal of approval. :)
CAO is like, some Hollywood thing. Alee Cao is the owner with his... Sister? I have a kit from them... But I have no clue how to purchase from them. That's the issue.
I have a bunch of the Real Techniques brushes and the only one I really hate is the small angled brush because the metal that is holding the hairs is really sharp so it's extremely easy to scratch your eye if you aren't careful.
the buffer brush i use for both powder and liquid foundation, does an amazing job for both! the contour brush actually works great because it makes the contour look more natural than using a bigger brush, its also great for blush too to pin point it in the perfect spots, the small detailer brush is great for inner corners of the eye and underneath the eye, or to spot conceal (used it for all) and the pointed foundation ive used under the eyes for concealer and works great! i love these brushes!
luv ur video.... i was just thinking about getting new brushes yesterday and i couldn't even let the video finish and i was at the ulta website checking out these brushes totally trust ya opinion and getting the brushes u got :) thanks for the review!
I have to agree with the buffing brush, I love it for my studio fix powder!!! I have to try the contour brush for foundation, thanks for the tip!!! You should look out for the sales ulta has. I got the core set and got the starter set 50% off.
Cora, I heart you! You are wonderful. I so want to get that purple eyeshadow Real Techniques brush, too bad it's not sold separately! I live in the boonies in the middle of FL so no Ulta within two hours! Ugh! So I will just live vicariously through you until I can get to Orlando. ;)
I have the MAC stippling brush. And I totally want to buy Real Techniques one just because I want it. Have you ever tried CAO brushes? I got them in my cosmo kit. But I don't think I've ever seen anyone use them on here.
I bought the travel set as well as the stippling brush and think they're absolutely fantastic! They're so soft and apply make up wonderfully AND are incredibly inexpensive, just wish they were all sold separately because there are a few I'd like to buy more of on their own =/
Haha, even Sam and Nic use one of the eye shadow brushes for concealer (and it does work better than the ACTUAL concealer brush). I wasn't a big fan of the foundation brush but I have one of the eyeshadow brushes, the powder brush, and the multi task brush (which I use for blush) and I love them! I like how soft they feel especially since I can sometimes be rough with my skin.
@vintageortacky Actually, I'm starting to build a kit now. (Aspiring make up artist, here) In your opinion, would these be worth keeping around for it, aside from personal use?
Oh my God, you can spam my subscription box anytime you like. I was looking for a good way to compare brushes without having to do TOO much research :D
You see, I wasn't sure about these, I heard some say good and some say bad but I know that YOU know quality so I will definitely be giving these a try. By the way, love the Pixiwoo sisters! <3
I bought the stippling brush on the advice of another guru for foundation, and I still love my Sonia Kashuk stippling brush for foundation way more. However, you're right, the stippling brush is perfect for creme blush, which is what I use it for. I even bought a 2nd one so I always have a clean one because it's all I use for creme blush now :)
The standing base is what really put me off buying them, and I feel that' that's their USP. I don't have much space for storing my make up so I need everything to be as streamlined as I can get it/ I really love Sam Chapman but I wish she had "regular" brushes so that I could invest in them. At the moment I feel I'd grow to loathe them for their size if I got any!
@vintageortacky Oooh really? Well that changes things! That was the only thing putting me off really. I have Lauren Luke's brushes to give a go first but after them I think I'll be getting a kit :D
I have the stippling brush like the mac 130 & I do like it. I use it 4 foundation or sometimes 4 highlighting. It's not great 4 that, but it does the job if u don't have a mac 130 or a fan brush, which I do not have either.
@taramariizy Yes there is a whole eye kit. I don't know if they are sold seperately but the kit is great...I love them! the buffer brush i use for both powder and liquid foundation, does an amazing job for both! the contour brush actually works great because it makes the contour look more natural than using a bigger brush, its also great for blush too to pin point it in the perfect spots, the small detailer brush is great for inner corners of the eye and underneath the eye, or to spot conceal (used it for all) and the pointed foundation ive used under the eyes for concealer and works great! i love these brushes!
