I was a little late in hearing this song. I was only aware of his first few albums but once I did, it instantly became my favourite. The lyrics and the way he delivers them are spot on brilliant and the Attractions are fantastic here. Just an incredible song.

@surfric Dutch courage is also referred to as liquid courage or alcohol induced courage. French Letters is a brand of condoms made in France . German sense of humor. German humor or jokes don't translate well into English, and vice versa, because of the many dialects in German and reliance on customs and historical references that may not be understood in other countries. This is a truly amazing song from the greatest wordsmith since John Lennon.

Saw this on TV back in the day.. Thanks for posting it.. I still have it on an old VHS tape.. "For the high heel he use to be, has been ground down". Probably my most favorite line by EC. I didn't see him until '96, and he opened up with this song.. That was just awesome.
