One thing good about Porsche is that they have character. Look at the horse, after being beaten in F1 by Renault, which is famous in making economy cars; They change the F430 headlight with a christmas light in F458. Still the car can't run faster than current GT2 RS.
Well, they don't need to change the model, because current 911 can lap any track faster than ferrari F430 OP. So it's the stupid horse that needs to change, not the Porsche.
I hope I'm not the only one who feced when they saw that thing Scotch-taped on there, although I don't know why they would bother hiding the rear if they're not going to do anything to the headlights. As for the stick-on intakes, that's no worse than the solid plastic intakes on some last-gen Mustangs. Tee hee.
oh my god porsche i actually liked the looks of the 997 this is just ugly as funk whats with the slats in the back end and the pretend air intake this will take forever to get used to you crazy fools you... audi R8 it will have to be then
Porsche makes evolutionary changes, not revolutionary changes. If you dont like that, then I will spray my hot DIARRHEA directly on top of your head. :-)
And that's what they also said when they launched the 997, and I found out that they really have made new panels, differences can be measured by millimeters in the Porsche, seriously : )
omg. just another old 911 design. i'd like to meet any ordinary person who can tell different 911's apart just by looking. Porsche need a new designer :-/
is that rear end the real thing or do you reckon they've modified it, not to give things away too soon, they do that some times with pre production cars
The parts aren't cheaper, their just sharing between models so they don't have to make 2 different parts to reduce cost. Is it good or bad idk but their not cheap parts.
In Porsche's defense, I feel that they've found a formula that has carried them over the past forty years. They have done nothing but improve upon that basic design. There a saying that goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Also, I feel that Porsche does make one of the better looking sports cars out there. I'd dare say that I would take a 997 turbo over an F430 just on looks alone. I can tell the differences in design between different models and I find it exciting how...
@Quinn5 Porsche is keeping it's competitors on their toes with a basic concept that's been constantly refined for over 40 years. I'm not sure if there's another car maker who can make the same claim... Especially with having the engine in the "wrong place!"
looks like it's gonna be a significant change and improvement! excited!
btw all the ppl that are saying "not feelin the back of it" or "look the fking same" you obviously have no clue about what test mules are. they are testing the internals of the new vehicle in an old frame until they finalize the details then they'll start testing with the actual vehicle which should be soon. as for the rear, it will NOT look like that. it's not even the correct body style and it's heavily camo'd!
While they may be covering the front lights a little, I think I like the new look. Since it is wider, and the lights are smaller, it kind of reminded me of the F430 (obviously taking into account F430 lights are not round...). I am really curious to see what they will do with the rear spoiler. I would love to see a modern take on the whale tail spoiler. Hopes not high on that one though haha.
I don't even know why Porsche bothers with the camo. It's another 911, without the camo nobody would notice that is was new. In fact, I'd bet not having camo would be the most effective camo a 911 mule could have.
(2010 & 2012 911 parked side by side)
Dude1: Hello sir, can you tell the difference between these two cars?
I guess they're gave hints of the new 911 design language with the 918 concept.....i can see some resemblences......longer and slightly flatter as EJ25RUN said
i dont know why they even try to hide it. i think even with cover it looks more exciting than it will without. i like porsche but they seriously should try change things up. it just reached a point where it doesnt look like a proper sportcar. just compare it to any modern cars it doesnt need to be a real sport. take the VW Scirocco for example.
1:26 The angle of the windshield is way different. The typical upright windshield is no longer there.
About styling, if they changed it a lot too many people would probably be pissed off. Remember, most people who complain are people who can't afford it anyways. They probably find out what people want from their customer base or potential customer base, not what some guy on youtube thinks.
The Panamera is actually selling well, and no one likes it, other then those who can afford it I guess...
i don't get why everybody says every 911 looks the same... you'd have to be blind to not be able to tell a 998 from a 997 from a 996 from a 993... the shape is similar, but they all look very different.
this one looks like the prettiest 911 since the 993...
With all honesty, Porsche should be making this out of carbon fibre. I mean, the 911 is a solid design, and saving hundreds of pounds with the use of carbon fibre makes it all the better. And yeah, thats a shitty looking grill on the back. That definitely needs improvement, though, if it keeps the engine cool its good for racing.
yeah, i don't even know why i'm watching this vid as I know I will not ever able to afford one of these beautiful road machines, I can only dream...or rob
I like the way the shape flicks up at the back after the rear window (what the hell is the term for that spot it's on the tip of my toungue!) anyway, looks good.
yeah the styling never changes. they say its the tradition, but some think its because they cant change the styling because they have no ideas on designing a new car.
