  • Perfect song. Aesop's word placement is fucking amazing.

  • Bitehandle anybody?

  • @FOOSRODAH Me c:

  • I told this cat the earth was flat, he walked till his beard grew long enough to strangle himself for being stupid.

  • aesop 4 president

  • Badass.

  • I've been stuck on Aes for a grip now...I introduce it to people ,they never seem to share the same fascination.I'm a coffee drinker, but I'd say this is my cup of tea. Mmm scrumptious.

  • @Xfilthyhands216X I try to give the gift of Aesop to others as well. No one gets it. The best things are the things you can keep for yourself I guess. I just listen with my headphones in and laugh at all the cats not listening to this modern work of art. Enjoy it!

  • @Xfilthyhands216X Man, me too. I've been listening to him for 6 plus years and nobody ever seems to like him as much as I do. This man is a genius.

  • After listening to Aesop Rock, all other hip hop seems transparent and incomplete.

"I told this cat the earth was flat He walked till his beard grew long enough to strangle himself for being stupid"

I never smiled while listening to hip hop until I heard that line.

  • It could be from the old Twilight Zone series but not entirely sure.

  • @riddimbag dang, according to wikipedia theres 123 film versions alone, not including radio. this could be a long hunt. anyone got the knowledge?

  • @riddimbag well the samples not from the original 50's invasion of the bodysnatchers thats for sure cuz i jus watched it. not sure how it could be from any invasion of the bodysnatchers movie either unless the plot changes cuz soon as they fall asleep they get "consumed"? this dudes sayin like he jus woke up and bein sorry bout it?!

  • BREAK YO SELF

  • Aesop is either taking some of the craziest drugs on the planet or he's one of the deepest thinkers on earth. Either way I barely understand what he's saying half the time. But I like it

  • @PweezyG81 mmmm...no.just chemically imbalanced like most of us

  • illogic and aesop rock christians and some of the best in my opinions.

  • damn didnt know blockhead made 7 tracks on this album

  • I lay the Lord down upon its belly

With my foot dug in between the third and fourth disk

    Yelling 'Break yo'self!'

Anyone understand the meaning of this? It seems that the disks referred are the ones in the spine. Could the 'lord' be a landlord?

  • @TheycallmeGuth I'm pretty sure he says "law" not "lord."

  • @TheEMFB yeah you're right haha it makes a lot more since now :)

  • @TheEMFB i think he says lord, aesop rock is an atheist so it makes sense

  • how woud you do ?

    stupid?

    5LMNTs

  • I told this cat the Earth was flat, he walked til his beard grew long and ended up stranglin himself for bein stupid. . So dope. .

  • This beat makes me Cry.

  • people under the stairs are really sick too, from la so totally different style

  • @primusayso

Shit yeah, PUTS is dope, my favorite

  • this song makes me cry

  • The beats on this album are the bomb shit!

  • Escaped briefly back to my apartment

    Parked in front the fan

And reminisce about the day I ran a mile with your heart in my hand

  • "I told this cat the world was flat, he walked until his beard grew long enough to strangle himself for being stupid." sick sick SICK.

Whoever claims Aesop puts good sounding words together as opposed to deep, subliminal metaphors is a fucking pawn.

  • DYING to know where those samples come from. The interwebs isn't offering me any answers. Agh, what to do?

  • If you're talking about the guy talking, it's from the movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

  • Sick.

  • "While my introverted side is flying cadavers on kite strings." Cracks me up every time. Sick song.

  • prob it was a prophecy ;)

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP SHIT LIPS!!!

  • "Parked in front the fan, and reminisce about the day I ran a mile with your heart in my hand."

    Sickkk..

  • "F-L-A-S-H-F-L-O-O-D Flashflood". I fuckin' love that part!

  • Him, MF Doom and a few others are the only real shit out there anymore

  • i call for a calbo! asap

  • @lolakaulitz215

theres more than just those guys and a few others but your on the right track

  • @lolakaulitz215

find Wu Tang Meets the Indie Culture the first album, has good underground guys with some classic Wu, Aesop and some of his buds are on there

  • @lolakaulitz215 did u listen to the song they made together, blacklist? maybe my favorite song ever

  • @lolakaulitz215 Agreed. Sad but true.

  • @lolakaulitz215 You should look into illogic him and aesop are the two best ever in my opinion

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha.. MF DOOM!!!! hahahaha look harder mate

  • @lolakaulitz215 Atmosphere too.

  • @lolakaulitz215 CYNE is probably the best underground out there soooooooooooooo underrated cise starr (hes in cyne), aesop rock, and slug (atmosphere) are probably my favorite rappers

  • hell ya man.. hell ya

  • i love aesop rock man

just the only real shit out there

  • There are others, Sage Francis, Immortal Technique, Beast 1333, KRS-One. You must find them.

  • The best thing about Aesop is the way he plays around with the textures of words. Doesn't have to rhyme or even make a lot of sense--it's all about the textures, and manipulating them to fit his purpose.

Cryptic? Sure, but when you can make simple words sound so fucking cool who cares.

  • i agree with you there, but am gonna add imagery as well.

wants you to visualise what he saying.

  • haha so true

  • "I told this cat the earth was flat, he walked 'til his beard grew long enough to strangle himself from being stupid."

    Made me laugh :D

  • wino420, it called googling "aesop rock flashflood lyrics"

  • yeah you can interpret what he's trying to get across but you're gonna need help by some lyrics to read n yea goodl uck trying to do that haha

  • i love you Aesoppppppp.....

  • but does any one really know what he's talking about?! I understand "syllable practice" but probably 70% of his songs don't make a lick of sense to me. I catch a sentence every now again that sounds memorable and it gets stuck in my head...but i can't tell you what the rest of the song is about...:

Jiggy-jabberjaw vitamin idol and primal rages

When bible page verse tidal waves has begun (Water one)--wtf?!

blockhead is probably carrying me thru the rest of him...hypocrite fan i guess

  • Theres no understanding a lot of it, hes abstract as fuck. Dude is out of his mind.

  • Comment removed

  • he's totally in his mind.... peep some interviews! read what he's gotta say about his own rhymes, although lots of them dont make sense. and you're right in a sense that he must be kinda crazy.. he does admit it in one of four

  • Relax your mind stop trying to listen and listen yo.

  • You're supposed to interpret them in your own way. No one can really know what he means unless he explains line for line, which won't happen because that takes away from the mystique that makes hip hop great

  • & reminisce about the day I ran a mile with your heart in my hand <3

    (:

  • Aesop is the shit

    no doubt

  • Best song on the cd? I think so there all really good though...

  • I lay the Lord down upon its belly

With my foot dug in between the third and fourth disk

    Yelling 'Break yo'self!'

  • "Daddy's gonna kill ralphie!" Hahaha, sick shit man.

  • I love this beat.

    So much.

  • anyone know where the "is it possible, conceivable that i sleepwalked out of my appartment and went berzerk?" sample comes from?

  • ive always wondered where it came from to. its on a taskforce track to but cant remeber what one

  • Isn't it used on one of the 10bag mixtapes aswell?.

  • yh thats what i mean prob, i knew it had sumin to do with taskforce and there on those mixtapes. i have a listen later try and find it.

  • Don't know where that sample came from, but the flute, or whatever it is, in the background sample is from a movie. 10 bonus + to whoever can name it.

  • an obscure kung fu flick?

    either that or karate kid.

  • Nice guess but no. Here's a hint: its from a western, and its not, "The Good the Bad and the Ugly."

  • is it duck, you sucker? can I get an amen?

  • Blackstartete.....AMEN! I just saw Duck You Sucker 6 months ago and it blew my mind when I heard this, all I could do was laugh it was so awesome. I only wish I had discovered it earlier.

  • a few dollars more?

  • Close guess but no, the answer was Duck, You Sucker and blackstartete beat ya to it. Same director and composer than A Few Dollars More, so if you liked that movie you'll love Duck You Sucker (aka A Fistful Of Dynamite). Much better in my opinion.

  • is it like a blaxploitation movie?

  • "the big gindown"

  • @jelcifer lol IS IT BY ANY CHNACE SOME DR JAKYKLL AND MR HYDE MOVIE??

  • @jelcifer

It might be from Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

    Not sure though.

  • @jelcifer pretty sure it was the OG american warewolf in london

  • @jelcifer funny, i did an advanced google search for that and it brought me right back here.

  • @jelcifer i think its a recording of jekyl and hyde

  • @jelcifer if i recall correctly I heard somewhere it was from "invasion of the body snatchers."

  • this is my fav song from this album

  • my fav from aes, butter

  • ITS A HITTER

  • easliy one of his best

  • Amazing Song this be the big F-L-A-S-H-F-L-O-O-D
