  • Lol, David and Nick are "Not Bad," faced.

  • Love the Slash calm, he's not Jimi, Jimi is the best, but they're different. Also, we must say that Slash is good, and...better than all of us at guitar;) Hendrix = One in a million

  • @Dekazeta11 *1 in 7 billion

  • Fantastic cover! Love it Please check out my cover too, if you don't mind..

  • slash fucks the guitar!

  • Slash is an egotistical guitarist !!!

  • @plumatsch Uhh, wah?

It's like this idiot's never seen an interview on Slash, the guy's incredibly introverted, how the fuck is he egotistical?

  • @plumatsch Relax most of them are = a way of gettin by dude .-)

  • slash sucks, everything that touches shit....

  • NEVER seen anyone playing Hendrix with less emotions than Slash...

  • first people i see, are from pink floyd. nice

  • 0.05 - David Gilmour?

  • @gdoset yes

  • @gdoset I'm sat here going

    Get UP AND JAM!

  • How can poeple write comments like "Ohh mummy, Slash is not playing solos like in GN'R .. " what the hell ... times change, other occasion ... Slash is Slash whenever you get him. Thats ma point

  • slash is such a tool, look at him trying to be cool with that cigarette.....

  • @justchill919 he can actually pull it off, whereas your sorry ass just sits at home hating on a guitar god like Slash.

  • Einfach nur GEIL!!!!

  • everyone should stop going on about slash its his own interpretation, thats why its called a "tribute" its his own version, ok nothings as good as jimi's but its his style?

  • Please slash don't ever ruin a good song by Jimi again

  • Too sorry for Slash's fans, but... What kind of solos are these... Slash is not the same Guns n' Roses Slash, I'm sorry for this but Slash is crap now!

  • @g12jojoto This version is slowed down sooo much. He's playing the exact Hey Joe perfectly, but listen to how slow the song is...

  • I really don't like slashs interpretation of this song, he plays it so artificially, he really is over rated, and doesn't deserve to be up there as the guitarist in jimis shoes... If anyone should, it should be Clapton, afterall him and jimi were good friends.

  • should had a strat for a hendrix song and leave the les paul for page

  • at 0:05, is that the great David Gilmour and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd right?

  • @msallehuddinsoeb it is

  • awsome thanks for posting

  • @hippiesjah thnx for subscribing ;)

  • Is that Tom Jones playing bass?! haha

  • @JXSIDNEYX Billy Cox, he replaced Noel Redding on bass on 1969, the last part of Hendrix career, in a band called Gypsy, I think?

  • It's a shame Winwood forgot the words & messed up the singing (although it's kind of authentic... Jimi did it all the time!)

I wish they'd just done it as an organ, bass, drums trio and got rid of Slash. (They could've had a white Strat leaning against a Marshall stack as a symbol of the absent guitarist. That would've been cool).

Steve, Billy & Mitch all played with Jimi. Slash doesn't really have a reason for being there.

  • why everybody have saw David at 0:05 but nobody have saw Nick Mason in back of he? :(

  • Slash and Jimi, two of the most talented guitar players of all time.

  • this version much better than hendrix himself slash awesome dont get me wronf jimi is to but this still better

  • @59lespaul100

    ....no....

  • @59lespaul100 god, learn to write... also this version feels like it's been cut piece by piece with a pair of scissors, incomplete....

  • <3 it ...

  • I think Steve does look like Conan. Ha ha. this band has great musicians. They just suck as a band. they aren't gellin. The might as well have played at separate times. Its like four soloist trying to see who will be heard the most. Great performances as solo artist, but they suck as a band.

  • what's up with that cig in slash's mouth?

  • great song but one question:how the hell does slash manage to smoke and play at the same time?

  • besides loving the 16th President of the United States, what do Slash and Oprah have in common?Just a common chord that strikes at the right place can make you rich and famous!!

  • new look.like

  • he sounds like stevie ray vaughn the singer

  • I think that's a very fitting tribute to Hendrix, slash played it pretty well awesome tone and for those of you who hate on him for it you are probably jealous that you aren't that talented

  • Oh..THE DRUMMER AND BASSIST PLAY WITH HENDRIX.....BUT THEY ARE NOW GONE..THE WHOLE JIMI BAND ARE NOW IN MEMORIES...RIP

  • You have got to love the sound of a Les Paul on the neck pickup. It was cool to hear Slash's take on it. Not bad in my opinion.

  • 0:05 its david gilmour :D

  • nothing is better than the original but I love slashs playing in this cover!

  • 2:30 what a great tone by slash!

  • thanx for posting

  • Steve isdoing a tribute to Jimmy Hendrix with his interpretation and not an imitation.

  • wht do you call the finish on the les paul? cause it's not a tobacco burst, it's more like a dark brown burst. anyone knows?

  • stratocaster or die XD

  • its a shame steve did not play his guitar on this cover. Steve not only has a great voice but the man can play a mean guitar himself

  • The giant Slash with the little winwood

  • @JasonGuitaristeCye Winwood has more talent in his little finger than Slash does in his entire body.

  • @JasonGuitaristeCye Are you fucking kidding?! Do you even know anything about music? Steve Winwood is one of the greatest white soul singers and rock instrumentalists to have lived, not only did he have his first number 1 hit at the age of 17, but had an incredible career and was hugely praised by Jimi Hendrix amongst countless other artists. Slash is undeniably a talented guitarist who wastes his talents and rose to fame in a shit band.

  • I really really really hope this is not a charity for battered women.

  • Dont forget Billy Cox on Bass and Mitch Mitchel on Drums.

    Everyone speaks about slash,....!

  • the best there is gilmour and nick mason in the start. thumbs up !

  • When it was be? In 2010 year?

  • @Caponis Jimmy Page

  • @DakroniKSauruS I was about to write that.

  • @giovannipasinetti how about now ?

  • @Kamilk12l good job

  • @giovannipasinetti wooo there buddy winwood and slash are both HUGE musical geniuses!!

  • @giovannipasinetti

    Steve who?

  • @sakk3d what does "steve who" mean?

  • @giovannipasinetti hey bitch, who are u to call slash little... he'll be known as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and u will still suck

  • @FlapSkate even other guitarist like Clapton and Glimour appreciate his playing..they are never look down on other guitarist, they had just different style of play, tone, and more

  • Jimi was the BEST

  • amazign, guitar should have been way louder tho

  • no one can do it like jimi :D

  • ..awesome.. oh man.. ;-)))

  • For an excellent version of this song, search: "markgalloway hey joe" 56k+ hits and counting!!

  • Don't shit!

  • Those guys that say slash was no good, Or phrasing wasn't good or whatever, are deaf dudes who are not musicians. He is a rock god like Hendrix ! and like Hendrix he just done

  • @teleman1280 That would be why Time Magazine rated him the 2nd greatest electric guitarist of all time after Jimi.

  • chcialem zobaczyc reakcję publiczności publicznosci....

  • That solo was terrible! Just playing some 1/16 notes randomly, does not make for a good listening experience. Sometimes less is more!!

  • that is the worse guitar cover i have every seen

  • Steve Winwood's great! i saw him live-- opening act for Santana in Toronto last summer!! it was amazing

  • to be honest.. Slash didnt have much to feed off of with the piano backing and mediocre vocals that just held a key.. lack of feeling all round in this cover... wouldnt say it's entirely slash's fault the song came out so weak with that solo climax. i actually think he played to the level of the song which makes him better for it. im no big slash fan or anything by the way but im sure he couldve done better. agreed phrasing was weak almost all thru

  • shit it was hard seeing mitch like that he looks awful but plays amazing, slash was brilliant in this too

  • Paul Gilbert - Hey Joe ;)

  • I SAW GILMOUR :D

  • The ONLY problem for my, is the voicals.

  • The loyal Mitch :) oh yea and Billy!

  • The loyal Mitch. :)

  • I am sorry for that - but the phrasing of slash is horrible. He is playing too many false notes. But Mitch Mitchell - thumps up for his drumming. RIP

  • Did Slash tried to spat at the front audience at 5:00-5:03?

  • @mrtzjam no his cigarette ashed

  • Woah thats the second best hey joe solo ive heard

  • anyone else think the singer looks like conan o brian?

  • @BurritoBryan Thanks for that, gave me a good laugh, cause indeed he does look like Conan and never saw that before

  • ah slash is so nervous - his phrasing is so fucked

i would be just as nervous man, those are some big ass shoes to fill

    the biggest some would say

  • I can't belive nobody notice that the drums and the bass are the actuual guys that played with JH. the other pimps are OK also, but these guy's are true history they where the when hendrix invented it.

  • i went to say slash has still got it...but then i realised that slash invented it.

  • good ol' Mitch:)

  • Comment removed

  • @erikmorot pajamas?

  • HOLY SHIT! My ears cummed all over the place

  • I´d prefer a Frusciante, or a Steve Vai or a John Mayer for playing this kind of song.. they ARE guitarrist , and you enjoy their performance.. i didnt undertand the solo

  • @carliarce thats because you probably dont even play an instrument, and the solo he added on to it like how stevie ray vaughan added his own stuff onto little wing

  • @guitarfreak651 i only said that i didnt like the way that he played hendrix, he is a good musician, but i didnt like only, nobody is perfect sorry .. but unfortunately i play piano, bass, drums and guitar

  • @carliarce oh its cool man its just by the way you said your statement i thought you werent a musician but thats cool man, but this Slash played his own version of Hey Joe to make his own statement of how he felt of Jimi Hendrix just like how Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer did their covers of Jimi's songs, so how hard was it to play the piano when you first started out?

  • @guitarfreak651 yes, its an honor to make own cover of a great influence and musician as hendrix, but i prefer other guitarrist.. you know, every person in the world have their own point of view and taste of music.. and piano i started at the beginning of this year, its not hard to know, but practice is crucial .. very very important

  • @carliarce very true man, very true lol sweet dude cause ive always heard like the guitar (i play guitar and bass) and the piano are like brother and sister

  • @guitarfreak651 i dunno, its like the main important instruments in life i think

  • @carliarce Frusciante and Mayer are great but couldn't hold Slash jock strap when it comes to solos. Vai would be great although he doesn't have that soul in his playing like Slash. Slash is so good because the combination of talent and soul he puts into everything. Not the best guitarist out there but is respected because of the feeling he plays with every time he plays. Something that is lacking with even some of the best guitarist in the world. Its not all about technical ability.

  • @Caponis I dont prefer guitarrist that plays 10 notes in 1 second.. now guitarrist are thought that are good by playing fast and fast, and breaking records of physics..thats why a lot of guitarrist influence with Hendrix, he would play thinking with his soul, not with muscles of their fingers.. I respect Slash in all of the terms, but i cant feel it, like when another guitarrist plays this song and hes not using and strato.. this music is made to be played with that, cause have an specific sound

  • @carliarce Slash is not know for playing with speed. He is not one of those guys who plays fast, and fast and breaking records of physics. He is actually considered slow by some people. His speed is actually underrated because of that. Slash plays with soul and originality. Ironically Vai, who you mentioned, plays with that speed and lack of soul that you are talking about.

  • @Caponis Well actually a few people see your point, just people who knows music unafortunately.. now all of the beginners/normal guitarrist look up to Slash because "he plays fast".. Im not saying that Slash only is known by his speed, he got an special sound, so when you listen to a solo you can say "oh this is Slash".. But my point was that I PREFER another guitarrist to play this song, i´ll enjoy more, im not saying that slash sucks, because that will be a naive opinion

  • @Caponis and also, i think that you never heard Frusciante and Mayer.. frusciante can eat a lot of guitarrist by making a couple of notes.. his soul and pureness is incomparable, and he doesnt even play 12 notes in 1 second, he just conect his heart to the guitar.. and in an interview , he was first of the best guitarrist , and slash was second (But cmon! you cannot compare slash with frusciante)

  • @carliarce I have heard both of them and know a lot about them actually. Frusciante IMO is up there with the best guitarists from the 90's if not the best. But I would still take Slash over him any day of the week. Mayer is very talented, but is the last guy I would pick for the Solo of Hey Joe. BTW I played guitar for 6 years then stopped for about 5 then started playing again for the past 2 years. Music is a big part of my life, and for awhile guitar was the biggest part.

  • @Caponis Yeah, in my case i will take Frusciante.. i am guitarrist to, and im big influenced by frusciante, hendrix, and maybe i get things from other genres.. music is not about who is the best guitarrist or best "whatever".

Tastes of music are very diferents in every people, and the music that you like is the music that identifies you, that when you listen feel part of it.. unfortunately good music now is stained and dirty with justin biebers, rebecca blacks, J brothers and that dickhead music

  • @carliarce I know what you mean by its not best whatever. I can agree with you on that. It is very hard to judge a person on how good he is. What measures do you go by? Speed, originality, technical ability, perfectionist, emotion, etc. It definitely comes down to what you like and what you can relate to and feel. Talent always plays a part, for instance I think SRV is the best guitarist ever because he had it all and just was the best I eve heard, but it still comes down to personal preference

  • @carliarce And I did say Frusciante was probably the best guitarist of the 90's, could be argued different. I said in a SOLO I would take slash in a heartbeat. They are both original which makes them so great. Slash has the feeling and Frusciante is just smooth as hell. Different guitarists all together. I just don't see Frusciante playing anything that Slash couldn't. I know I just said thats not what makes a great guitarist, but I just can't find an area where Frusciante is more talented.

  • @Caponis Whatever.. both of us are musicians, and both of us plays what it make feel comfortable and identified

  • Four people don't feel music

  • thumbs up if you saw david gilmour at 0.05

  • i like more jimi hendrix's cover

  • who thinks this should b on itunes

  • i've never really enjoyed slash's guitar playing...

  • Sorry but the solos are realy boring and the tune is horrible.

  • Today, Jimi Hendrix have 72. ♥

  • @Slashismeable he would've been 68 he was born in 42.

  • Caponis, you forgot jimi page

  • the main difference between Hendrix and Slash is that Slash is not a rhythm player. He is strictly lead and you can hear the difference in this version and in Hendrix's version. Hendrix's version is more filled out during the verses with rhythm and embellishments and subsequently rocks harder.

  • I thought this was terrible!

  • I know the guy in the audience at 0:28, the one with the long hair.

  • ruthless!

  • if you think of it, slash has the perfect blend of soul and technicality. he can go nuts sometimes, but he alwasy has a hint of soul in his playing (the solos of november rain are great examples)

  • You can't compare, Jimi is Jimi, Slash is Slash, I prefer the original version but this is really good

  • Longest ash on a cig ever?

  • 5.03 slash spits!!

  • jimi is dad of slash

  • f'kn slash man, hell yea

  • does he just let his smoke burn or does he smoke it hahah always wondered

  • Great, classic sounds from awesome guys. Watch out for BRANDON JAROD. Playing hey joe, just as great!

  • 00:30 - recognised the sound

  • Love it

Slash doesn't even sound rehearsed for this tribute

    Just all natural

  • @MrStuntCentral I meant Billy Cox was/is the only one alive from the Experience and Band of Gypsys members by the time I made the comment... Mitch passed away November 12, 2008. R.I.P. Mitch, Noel, Buddy & Jimi.

  • Completely brilliant

  • Slash is the bestt,, the master of feeling

  • Comment removed

  • Am I wrong or Billy Cox is the only one alive from the Experience and Band of Gypsys members? R.I.P. Mitch, Noel, Buddy & Jimi.

  • Nobody works a Les Paul like slash.

  • @Caponis and that's a fact ! :)

  • @Caponis

nope, Les Paul is the best on his Les Paul.

  • @Caponis I'd say Jimmy Page does

  • @BeanMONTYfawlty Ok I get it guys. There might be better players out there that played a Les Paul. But no one, IMO, that played a Les Paul exclusively worked one like Slash.

  • @Caponis Les Paul worked a Les Paul a lot better in my opinion.

  • @santajimi spsshh you're gheyyyyy, just come trolling, ruining everyone's mood

  • @beerwine69 Sorry. :(

  • @Caponis Jimmy Page is very much better than Slach, and he plays a Les Paul.

  • @Caponis Amen

  • @Caponis

    wrong, Jimmy Page

  • @Caponis sorry jimmy page is the master of the les paul. and thats a fact! :)

  • @purpleonionful What does Clapton play????

  • @purpleonionful les paul was the master of the les paul

  • @purpleonionful eem no...slash is a muck better guitarist than jimi page as much in his solos, as in his way of playing...and when someone says gibson les paul, the first thing that will come up in their mind is SLASH

  • @purpleonionful I thought les paul was the master of the les paul.

  • @purpleonionful well, slash just uses les pauls while page uses others too, but page is still awesome

  • @Caponis sorry, i am not a slash hater but, don't say that, every guy has his own tallent in his way, jimmy page plays on a les paul too...

  • @Caponis xD what a joker...

  • @Caponis doesnt mean nobody's better with a Les Paul though. Jimmy Page works it better.

  • @Caponis Jimmy Page
