@sdkfun414 It is a good keyboard. My model has weighted keys and the sound is pretty good. I bought s90es a year or so ago but kept my ypg-625. The S90es has some really nice sounds but some songs sound better on the ypg-625.

The s90es is 2x or 3x more than the YPG-625. So, yes, I like the keyboards!

Lithium was the 3rd song I learned and the first that I learned from sheet music. So, I was very inexperienced at the time. I have been playing a little longer and I am much more relaxed. Hope to put some new songs up soon when I have time.

@crally95 I learned by sheet music. In fact, this was the first song I learned by sheet music. You should learn how to read sheet music if you don't already. You don't have to read fast ( I am actually quite slow). Typically, I combine the sheet music, tutorials and just watching different people play. Good Luck.

lol, i don't like your way to play, but it sounds good ;) . and, if you guys can't read notes, then just listen to the song and play exaclty the same ;) the emotion will come when you know the song very well, this is from personal experience :P i played piano for almost 8 years, and 6 years with a teacher, infact the best piano player in faroe islands :P but i still don't know how to read notes, im asking my dad to play the song, then i play after him. do that (if you got a dad that knows piano)

Bravo to you. I too just took up piano a few months and stated with teacher, but not to my liking. I am fortunate to have a wife that is a classical, accomplished violinist who aids me in my learning to read music, as I have not the skills to play by ear as yet...I am looking for a new piano teacher to ensure that I dont learn bad habbits...On your own its definitely a mental challenge...Keep up great work, sounds awesome.

Thanks! I am self taught and started learning on one of those little 66 key Yamaha keyboards. There is a lot of info on how to read music on the internet. It is not hard to read music. There are flash card online that you can use to get better. You don't have to read notes fast, just be able to read them so you can play and memorize the song. That is what I do. Give it a shot. I was told a few days ago that it was going to be a week or so because he had to finish his guitar section for "Your Star" and then of course there was Christmas. Then out of the blue at midnight I get an email saying that its ready. Hope you liked it. The next one I am working on with them is "Your Star". I am pretty sure that it won't be out for a couple of months. They take awhile for everybody to do their part. Lithium was started a few months ago and Weight of the world 6 months!

The piano is quite a hard instrument to play because you have to play differnt notes on each hands and it slightly confuses your mind that is why you should practice a lot just like you probably have! It sounds really nice man, especially if you have taught yourself. However, if i can give you one piece of advice, its to change your hand position. You are constantly straining your fingers (and notice the 3rd and 4th are never moving at all). Your fingers should be bent, sorte like if you're cupping a ball, downwards, and then press down, like when you're typing on a keyboard (the computer kind). That can save you from some nasty hurt.

Thanks for the comment. I think that if I learned the song now, the fingering would be different. As you know, it takes time to build up coordination on the weaker hand and weaker fingers. You would get a really good laugh if you saw the way I play the beginning of "my immortal" :)

My advice would be to learn how to read music. At first I tried to piano without learning to read music and I found it easier in the end to just bite the bullet and learn. Learning to read music is not hard. Learning to read music quickly is. If you don't want this advice, then google "evanescence lithium midi". Download a midi file. Next, google "Harping MIDI". Download the free Harping software. Harping allows you to load a midi file and it will give you the notes that you want.

This was the first song I learned from sheet music. It took me around 4 weeks to learn the song. I learned one small part, memorize it and then just play it over and over. Eventually you build up muscle memory and you don't even think about what keys to play. It still trips me out.

i play it differently. but i like your version. except it's tad bit fast. i know you like to play fast. i used to be that way too. i hated slow songs but then it just didn't sound right anymore. so i train myself to work on the tempos. i play with the actual song. that way i know my tempo is just right.

What I love most is the fact that your fingers have had no training. Or, if they have, you've ignored it. The placement is horrible, but it's not an insult: It simply makes it harder on you to play, and yet you played it faultlessly. Now, I don't know if its simply the video quality, the keyboard quality, or superb pedal skills but I've noticed there's no meshing. No clashing of your notes, everything's crystal clear and precise.
