Saludos cordiales.
I am infinitely jealous. When I saw them last year, I kept hoping they would sing this, but I assumed the odds of them actually singing it live were one in a million. Oh, how close I came!
Eccezionali in maniera incredibile!!!!!!!! Incredible! Simply crazy, even if in other pieces they play more with voices
I'm completly open to criticism here but is it just me or has the caliber in the King's singers make a huge leap forward in the last ten years or so? Don't get me wrong these the 'classic lineup' as i like to call them are amazing but the calibre of individual voices is much higher in the current line up in my opinion.
May be that now they "play" more with voices: especially in modern pieces, but even in Reinassance, where these 80's guys were IMHO more philological.
Also the care in pronunciation of non-english texts is greater in the 80's lineup.
I'm Italian and I have been astonished to hear such a perfect italian pronunciation in their madrigals.
I've heard the current king's singers live and, even if still excellent, their pronunciation is a bit worse perhaps because they sing less Reinassance.
James; I never asked myself that question.... I admire the KS for well over twenty years now and I am still equally attracted by their skills and their dedication.... Having heard them life a few times I never wondered about their maybe improvements but I do guess that nowadays the technical possibilities of registration (enregistrement) are far better.... although it's their human voices that make their music so incredibly wonderful!
I know what you mean. I have very little understanding of what they are saying. I still have about 12 music cd's of theirs though. very beautiful music.
that stupid "silence-cutting" thing is so terribly annoying!! separates everything apart!! The performance still is perfect, but we can't appreciate it plentily bescause of this lack of reverb it makes...
@Wolf0nFire The same as you, 16 and love Ancient Music, well almost every kind of music out there, that's the magic of music, there's enough to satisfy every person, yet not enough that we create new beautiful music every day.

Ea, ea, sus, empecemos: Empieza tú, Gil Pizarra, A tañer con tu guitarra, Y nosotros te ayudaremos. Esperad que esté templada. Tiemplala bien, hi de ruin. Oh, cómo está destemplada. Acaba, maldito, ya. Es porde mas. Sube, sube un poco mas. Muy bien está. Jajajajajaja. Muy bueno.

I love Bill/Grayston Ives' tenor voice!
The countertenors develop their upper register and are trained. Look at most English cathedral choirs - they have men singing the Alto part.
