  • you paid around 500 and thought it might be a bit too much? late 2011 i paid 700 and thought i was getting a good deal after looking around for months and seeing what others are charging. try a auto plug. set it and forget it but doesn't recommend shooting 3inch shells!

  • Yes thank you very much for making this video

  • Have you bought any muzzle brakes? I have seen a lot but I was wondering do you have any recommendations? Also UTG Leapers make nice rail covers but easily slide up and down. The Magpul and Tapco rail covers will lock on to the rail and will NOT slide.

  • I just like to say thank you so much for making this video!! You helped me out from making any trial & error mistakes. The King Armory tappet fixed my problem in shooting low brass ammo. I would like to return the favor, so if you need any help with the military, guns, knives let me know. I have found out that MD Arms makes shit, so don't buy anything from MD Arms. As far as banana magazines the best ones that work are the SGM Tactical and as far as the drums ProMag Industries makes the best.

  • hahaha i lol'd when he said blow shit up. but i bought a saiga 12 this week and ive had a GREAT time with it. mine has no problem cycling cheap wal-mart winchester rounds. went thru 100 with no problem and no jams. suprised me, but i do have a question, is your bolt smooth or does it have a bit of a pull when u begin to cock it back and pull the key open? of couse i know its got to have resistance due to the spring but i was jw. bought mine brand new so it probably needs lubing anyways. thanks

  • Where did you buy your saiga 12 how long did it take and how much was it

  • Hello. Just for who it may concern, I just purchased this gun today. it is the BEST GUN I HAVE EVER FIRED. tons of fun, and not too bad of a kick. Keep in mind every saiga likes different loads, mine likes cheapo winchester universal. If you have the chance, please consider buying this. I'm fairly sure they'll be classified as a Destructive Device soon (means you'll need a class 3). This is a very solid semi-auto.

  • Can you send that link for what you bought that gave you 100% non failure rate on any shot?

  • @bjh04a

Sure. I'll send you a PM

  • @kylethelincey Can you send the link to me also? I can't get anything to clear out of mine. thanks!

  • God review.... Your not in texas are you? I cant find any texas dealers to sell this gun..... ANY HELP ?

  • @bjh04a

Negative. Not in Texas. I believe classic arms and jg sales both have Saiga 12's though. Can just buy one online and have it transferred to your local dealer.

  • ok, so to get it straight, when you swapped out the pucks, it fixed the light load issue? i'm thinking i need something like this for dove and i use 9 load.

  • @ctaylorharris

Pretty much. The new tappet allowed me to cycle 7 1/2 and 8 shot just fine. Couldn't do that with the stock tappet

  • @kylethelincey

Im not sure what the difference would be , but i still have my stock set up and i run Federal Premium 7 1/2 shot , putt 75 rounds of that thru my Saiga and never jammed or anything

  • Thanks for the video review. I'm considering getting one of these as my next purchase. I appreciate the bits about the failure to fire and how you fixed it. This should save me some time in the future if I encounter the same issue. Happy shooting!

  • can a stock saiga 12 handle bump-fire fire rates?

  • @demontamerkyuubi

Probably. I've never really tried, but I have seen other videos on here with people bump firing their stock S12's

  • i'm getting this to say "fuck you, zombies"

  • @djbiggyb

    Like a boss

  • Just in response to the comment in your vid about perhaps paying too much, at that time $500-550 was the average price range, though you'd see them going for $450 on occasion. Basically you paid at the upper end of the average price range and while you could say you paid more than you had to, I wouldn't say you were overcharged or ripped off or anything. Now earlier this year people were scared the ATF was going to classify these as Destructive Devices (DDs), and they saw a huge price spike.

  • @corneredfox

True, but on the flip side, I now get at cost for a lot of ammo and accessories from the shop I bought it from, so It evens out! Although, for some of the stuff, its still cheaper to buy online

  • @kylethelincey Yea, like I said you may have ended up paying more than you had to, but at least you didn't overpay. And sometimes it's just better to pay at the high end of the spectrum anyway. For example I've kinda been looking for an AK that's NOT imported by Century Arms, but around here the only AKs you find are WASR-10s and WASR-3s. So if I came across a MAK-90 or something and had the money, I wouldn't care if it was at the high end of the spectrum since I'd likely not see it again.

  • where in OR are you?

  • Did you screw it in all the way then back it off to setting 3?

  • @Patriot5401

tried it in all settings, no dice.

located in the Portland metro area

  • Thank you! I thinking about getting one.

  • that gun deserves a full conversion and trigger upgrade lol.

  • @gigalo86

I agree. On my list of things to do.

  • How much was your saiga 12?

  • @lievano3021

When I bought it (late 2009/early 2010), I got it for $550 in store.

  • WHAT SETTING SHOULD I HAVE IT ON FOR pdx RIUNDS? I have the factory gas plug and gas pin.

  • @Mr40belo

    Either setting will probably work.

  • I really want one of these but all the issues with the FTE i dont like at all. if russian special forces are using these i cant see them having the same problems. with failures to eject and all that. i would want to put the ar type stock on it and what mods/parts quailfy to add up to 5 for the 922r.

  • @88mpny

It really depends on what shells you are using. I was at first having a lot of issues with bulk pack bird shot, but I got a new King Armory gas tappet (no, I don't work for them) and it fixed those issues. If you use anything other than practice bird shot (steel shot, turkey, buck, slugs etc etc), very doubtful you'll ever have a FTE. With my stock, tappet and surefire mag, making it 922r, I think it ran me about $120ish.

  • @kylethelincey So slugs regulate through it fine thats good to know. and the KA tappet fixes the birdshot problems as well also good to know. the stock, tappet and mag are 3 parts I was under the impression you need 5 parts to be 922r compliant?

  • @88mpny

Magazine counts as three. I believe its the mag housing, the floor plate and the follower all count as individual parts.

  • @kylethelincey thanks good to know.

  • i want this gun it looks fuckin sick wit da pistol grip

  • Excellent video. Thanks for the gas plug advice.

FYI, Saiga should make a two round magazine or magazine insert to make it legal for hunting (1 in chamber, two in mag.)

  • one comment on the gunfixer plug.. if your shotgun does not work with the light loads then you should pull the plug and look inside to see how many gas port holes you can see. most should have 4 holes, but some have had as few as 2 holes.

I have a few hundred rounds through mine and not a single issue.

  • @weaponeer

Oh yeah, I totally forgot to mention that. I have 3 holes, none are obstructed. I tried the gas block mod to increase the size of the holes and modify the gas block to help (atleast I think help) regulate the gas a bit better. Didn't really help unfortunately. One of these days i'll try the gunfixers plug again, maybe it just wasn't completely broken in yet, although I had put about 300 high brass shells through it and about 200 low brass. Good comment though! I appreciate it

  • You need to get that converted..cause that pistol grip/buttstock is really queer,i only payed 75 bucks to convert mine, thats parts and labor and i didnt send it away to the gay tromix either ;) Mine loves to eat Winchester low brass AA Super Sport #8 shot.Alot of people's Saiga 12's dont i hear.Holy shit, you paid 40 bucks for the gunfixers gas plug!? It only costs 25 online at Carolina Shooters Supply, thats were i got mine along with the twister puck (standard).

  • @RantinAndRavin

Really queer huh? You have such an eloquent way of describing things. One of these days i'll properly convert it, but for now it works fine. I've been more interested lately in working on some of my other firearms.

  • @kylethelincey I only payed just a little over 700 bucks for mine. That includes, the gun, conversion, twister puc, gunfixers gas plug, belarus made lever lock side scope mount and red/green dot sight. If you were to find a Saiga 12 anywhere else of what i have,it would run you 900 to 1,000 bucks. So i lucked out to have the only person that works on,builds and sells AK's/AK variants in my state and happens to be only 40 miles away! ;) If it sounds like i'm gloating it's cause i am,Lmao!

  • @kylethelincey RantinAndRavin is the queer as pointed out in many videos. if it does not look like an AK then he feels the need to tell people how to setup weapons. I just banned him. as for your conversion, the FAB stocks have recoil absorbing springs in them (I have 2 of them). I have the gun fixer plug, rails, lowered optics, and updated sights. (I use the SVD stock)

  • great vid man helps alot dont want to have problems with my build

  • How much did u pay for yours just for the saiga?

  • @Miguelsr1rst

    I paid $550 at a local store.

  • @kylethelincey is yours the standard model? i mean im not sure if there are different saiga 12 models but from what i know there is only one available for sale :)

  • @Miguelsr1rst

The only differences i've found in new models are the barrel lengths, but once you get one, you can mod it however you like, just make sure its 922r compliant if you use bigger magazines

  • @kylethelincey what is 922r? is that a bullet button configuration? the saiga 12 like the one u have can READILY accept 20 - 30 round drum mags without any custom work am i right? :)

  • @Miguelsr1rst

Thats right, they can accept any of the 20-30 round drums, although i read that some of the MD arms and promag drums -sometimes- need slight modification.

Check out this article for more info on the 922r

Google saiga 12 922r and check out the article from dinzagarms

  • Mines on order :)

  • @yahlbilly

Nice man. You won't be disappointed!

  • thank you!...ive had the same problem with mine!....I even bought the MD20 round drum & your same stock & the tapco fore end with a vertical grip thinking (HELL YES) things are gonna get shot up!.....but to my dismay I found out it didn't cycle the Wal-mart bulk 100 round low brass ammo...and after all that work & money dumping into a (AK-47) assault shotgun....i just ended up shooting my 18inch mossberg and the saiga sit at home...(T_T)

  • Great review BTW. Just wanted to mention that the Gunfixer plug won't increase the amount of gas because the gas port size doesn't change. It does let you dial down an over-gassed gun or magnum/hi-brass rounds. The KA-SG01A tappet will boost the cycling strength so it will cycle more reliably. If someone has an over-gassed S12 then the KA tappet and a Gunfixer plug are the hot ticket, for all others use the KA tappet and the factory plug.

  • @kingjoey1974

Thanks for the response. I thought the gunfixers plug would help regulate the gas better for the lighter loads, not quite the case. The KA gas tappet is money. I'm so glad I bought it, because I was getting really frustrated with my S12 not cycling the light loads. The only FTE i've had since getting the tappet have been people limp wristing the S12, which I think has only happened 3 times in the last 500 or so shells

  • would you wanna shoot reloaded ammo out of it i shoot hot loads

  • @mrcheepjew

I don't see why not. Just adjust your gas setting appropriately.

  • great vid good info helped me alot
