If you go to African Ancestry.com people that don't know where what part of Africa they are from (even Jamaican people) can find out what country you are from. Let say you were from Jamaica and moved to USA but your child was born in USA so they can't label your child African American. Snoop dogg is 71% African, 23% native american, and 6% European. A lot of blacks in the US could care less to educate themselves regarding the difference between black(race) and AA(ethnicity)....a white person could be born and raised in South Africa and later become a US citizen and of course they would mark white/ caucasian; however, after becoming a US citizen in all reality they are AA too. This is due to ethnicity, not race. Being black and AA are two different categories. Africans are Black Africans. Black American are Blacks with African ancestry.

I guess your point is correct in the fact that Naturalised African citizens are aware of thier ancentral culture. African Americans who have been here for generations usualy do not. Records are hard to come by and also there is a general lack of intrest. AM have established thier own identity and cling to it.
