  • One of the most awesome songs in the whole universe. True fact.

  • STAY GOLD

  • Aha. My mistake.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard this was the first time a theremin was used in popular song.

  • @DinnerBells I'll have to correct you. The theremin, the first practical electronic musical instrument, was invented by a Russian scientist in 1918, and has been used in many musical settings, running the gamut from "Bach to Rock." Including many "popular songs" over the decades.

  • @DinnerBells

Doubt it was the 1st used in a popular song(opens up all sorts of cans)but it's being used here extremely effectivelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....This is making the Beatles look like pedestrians.

  • Yep, it's a Theremin! Like on those old sci-fi & creepy b-movies. Nutbush is a synth. Thx for the post.

  • Even my cats like it.

  • who the fook is this and how on earth did they conjour up such lovely colourful

lively enigmatic jumping brilliant sound with only a few basic notes!

my golly that sythesizer thingy does it all, a new invention for the sixties, Beachboys~ Good Vibrations used one, and Tina Turners~Nutbush City Limits Capt come back to Earth just once more and do it again,,,, please

  • @MrOrbitsville ..i think it's called a Theremin that funny synth thing........and if you liked this one try Big Eyed Beans from Venus.......it's beafheart at his very very best...in fact the clear spot album is all ways round amazing!!

  • Rest in Peace, O Captain, My Captain.

  • say hell to frank for me RIP

  • RIP Captain Beefheart. There never will be anyone qute the same.

  • r.i.p. Beefheart

  • This reminds of the blues if Goofy and other Disney characters were drinkin, smokin and jammin in an old school jook joint

  • Still noone dislikes this :)

(which actually suprises me in a way despite me loving it so much myself)

  • KEVIN LONG!

  • Gene YES!

  • shout the truth these are the dogs bollox along with dr feelgood of course... nuff said!!!!

  • oh my god!!

  • a power plant! A Linear Gravitation Power Plant!

  • how was it , the following tone is a reference tone recorded at our operating level ? i think he broke into his own on this record , less blues and more more somethink else , somethink undiscovered

  • sick

  • Fuckin brilliant musicians .... or magicians!!

  • THIS GUY ROCKED ! ....THE END

  • Thanks for sticking this out there. Excellent.

  • my leccy ran out 2day, wot a bummer

  • good thing you were able to run out and get more!

  • nice comment mate. respect to you

  • Canzone impossibile da cantare, è un attentato al modo di comporre occidentale......oppure è solamente pazzo ;-)

  • if i saw sonic youth attempt to cover Any Beefheart i would throw things at them like maybe a Python Boot

  • i'd pull them off stage with a bat chain

  • Id put on my Trout Mask Replica and make sure I was Safe As Milk

  • @klummp better not have bromidrosis.

  • @klummp fuck you, sonic youth is amazing

  • @klummp They did and even though I can hear how much they like the guy, it's no classic.

Beefheart's original, on the other hand, is so classic that it makes Chuck Norris cry.

  • @klummp I would find it quite awesome if Sonic Youth tried to cover a Beefheart song even if it wasn't that good. I love when bands show where they got their stuff from to the public so they will become interested and look into these geniuses that seem to get forgotten so easily.

  • badass cowboy skyboy rap type rock type funky little monkey

  • So many songs ont his album are so perfect the way they are. They can never be duplicated. Sonic Youths cover does no justice to this tune, but I wouldnt mind hearing Tom Waits give it a go

  • I love it when the drums kick in

And for some odd reason it reminds of the disney movie Dumbo hahaa....

    :S

  • ...and I'm WAY WAY WAY into this.

  • Very cool.

  • wow, mega-different to the Cannes Beach version
