Modern AK's have increased in accuracy and ergonomics and modern M-16's have increased in reliability and lethality. To make a point both countries of origion have compaired each rifle side by side time and time again and made improvements. I have shot both guns I gotta say M16 is the best. Why because its a lot more accurate when I shoot I want it to be more accuracy then power. But the ak is always a fun gun to shoot.

@7mmRemingtonMag My cozen was in iraqu for 3 monthe and he told me of a story where they were walking down the road and were ambooshed by people only about 100 yards away but not one of his troop members was hit by a bullet insted dispite the odds they killed all of the enimey soldiers. he said they had aks and that is thereason y there bullets wearn't able to hit them so he sais that he is so thankful that he has the m16 backing up his life because that is what it really comes down to.

Even though the ak cannot shoot far accuratly, if it hits you, youre SCREWD. ive heard stories of insurgents taking 5 shots of the m16, but the ak on hit itll knock you over, so it all depends on the terrain and the distance youre shooting at

Did he forget to mention that they are using old AK's with ill-adjusted sites and that they aren't very good shots with them and that they have minimal training? No wonder they can't hit anything; their weapons and care they place in them suck. I'd much rather have an AK-103 than the army's M-4; more range, power, and reliability at the cost of a small amount of extra weight. A bit more load is worth my life.

You know i have heard the sam ething from so many marines, airforce mp's and army grunts. The major issue is the operating system and alot of the magazines are shit which do not feed properly into the gun. I have an airforce mp as a friend who told me that she and her comrades could clean their rifles six times a day and they would still jam up. And they have the new M16 A4 variants. The "better" of the variants. Thank you for serving our country! I am glad you came home safe. :)

hmm... I bet you either have no idea what you are talking about or you have operated the wrong ak variants. If they are chinese or hungarian or bulgarian or romanian, the gun is shit. ALL Russian ak variants are extremely effective. I can take a Russian Ak74 M and hit a target at 300meters with a 2 1/2 inch grouping. Don't put your biased american crap on here. not to mention how many trops have died in the war so far because their guns jammed during a firefight. Thank you.

Yeah your right, my bad. Actually the romanian and chinese are the worst clones accordging to research. Hungarian and Bulgarian are better. Still wouldn't use them though. Oh and just because i airsoft is a hobby does not mean i have no experience with firearms. I have fired everything i can get my hands on. from colt m16/m4 variants to the crappiest slapped together ak47 variants to bolt action rifles to pistols. the police shooting ranges are great for that, they let you try anything

Chinese clones are some of the best according to me actually owning six of them! I have my videos if you don't believe me. The Romanian AK's can have a lot of quality problems where the Chinese AK's have almost little to no quality problems.

@akshooter762, I have six Chicom AK's and they are fine. You constantly hear of Rommy AK's having canted sights and sometimes functioning problems. I had a Rommy RPK and the mag release fell off by itself.

The Hungarian and Bulgarian models have thinner barrels and thinner recievers then the Chinese made AK's. For full auto, a thicker barrel and reciever will take the stress and heat better. The only Chinese products I ever liked was their firearms.

you are right about everything you said. I did kind of blow it out of proportion. Its just that assault rifles western vs. european are two different systems. I just happen to prefer more reliablity and more kick with good accuracy over less reliable, less kick but still effective with excellent accuracy. You know someone once said: "An assault rifle should be something that you slam the bolt open and piss out the mud chunks yet still fires" . The american weapons just don't do that 4 me

@one80ds while I am an AK guy myself, I have to say the AR/M4/M-16 are VERY good weapons. I have fired 1000's of rounds in many AR, and more than a few FA M-16s, and have had no more jamming issues than with any other system. AK's have been the most reliable, but AR have always been more accurate by far, and a well kept AR will go bang every time!
