Haha I'd love one too - never been to MVR but the Horton type appeals as a nice engine at not too huge a size, with a nice simple, but traditional outline. I'm attempting to build a Tinkerbell on a stupidly tight budget but I'd love a decent sized tender loco just like this. Thinking of shelving the Tink anyway, only mainframes done so far. Can't afford! :(
Shame I don't live anywhere close - I'd love a drive! Biggest so far are a Thomas II, the K36 at Comrie and a scale N&W Y6b, all 7.25".
you say that a but an improved horton type was recently built for a private buyer, same basic design just tweeked a little, higher boiler pressure and slightly larger. if you want one just phone the railway and place an order!!
if you listen carefully as it comes out the tunnel someone behind me say 'hells bells!' (it's Jim the owner of the railway driving, so he can go as fast as he wants!)
this loco is now nodding like a good un - can you confirm that it wasn't doing that at MVR - it would be a great help to us
