Angela riposato bene la notte scorsa e si sentiva forte questa mattina, camminando sul pavimento dell'ospedale. Aveva la linea centrale inserito nel collo più basso di oggi e ha il suo primo trattamento plasma exchange. La linea centrale sta causando qualche disagio, ma lo scambio del plasma è andato bene. Lei dovrebbe essere avere il domani secondo trattamento con un altro il Venerdì e altri 2 la prossima settimana.
Per spiegare il processo un po ', questi scambi di plasma sono fatti per eliminare il Tysabri dal suo sangue il più rapidamente possibile. Ciò dovrebbe prendere il 98% del farmaco fuori del suo sistema. Poi il suo sistema immunitario inizia ad attaccare il virus, ma ci può essere qualche ulteriore danno. Essi poi trattare che ulteriori danni con gli steroidi un paio di settimane da oggi.
Angela rested well last night and was feeling strong this morning, walking the floor of the hospital. She had the central line inserted into her lower neck today and had her first plasma exchange treatment. The central line is causing some discomfort but the plasma exchange went well. 4 more treatments to go. These plasma exchanges are done to remove the Tysabri from her blood. This should take 98% of the drug out of her system. Then her immune system will attack the virus.

Angela will keep you in my prayers. My daughter has been on Tysabri for just over two years now and I suppose we are in denial as to this problem. She has had 2 relapses in that time and feared PML. Gods hands are with the doctors and will watch for progress in your recovery from this set back. Maree

This is Keith. Angela's husband. She is at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is in good spirits and is showing only minor symptoms, so hopefully this is early and we can get ahead of it. She is having a central line inserted and will soon begin plasma pheresis.

That is correct. In this case, the PML is a side effect of Tysabri reported to affect 1 in 1000 people.

Cara Angela, sapessi quando sono commosso e addolorato nel vederti su quel lettino d'ospedale, ti sei anche scusata ti trovarti li su quel lettino; ma che colpa ne hai tu in nome del cielo? so che tu hai fatto il possibile per evitare l'ospedale,ma io sono sicuro che ne uscirai al più presto,perchè sei una donna forte e coraggiosa e ritornerai ad essere quella grande donna che sei sempre stata: pronta a dare saggi consigli e pregare per il prossimo.Sei ineguagliabile Angela. L'importante è che tu guarisca!
Eh, purtroppo alcuni medici finiscono con il diventare insensibili per non farsi impressionare da tutta la sofferenza che vedono... ma almeno hai tuo marito con te e tante persone che ti vogliono bene!

mi dispiace angela...ti posso capire mia zia anche lei malata di qst malatia nn sta tanto bene i medici gli hanno dovuto sospendere la terapia perchè aveva le transaminasi bassisime e anche i globuli..cmq io e mia mamma la stiamo convicendo di farla mettere nelle lista Zamboni speriamo...
