  • i want the dragon x for the 3ds aaaaaaaaaa why only in wii

  • @oooooooooooooooo5452 it's going to be on wii u too...

  • Everyone shut the fuck up and enjoy the internet.

  • Dammit. I wish they had made another on the PS2 or 3. Nothing wrong with the DS, but it seems wrong to relegate this epic series to a handheld.

  • @TyroneTasty It works just fine on the DS. I know X is coming to the Wii, don't know about on the ps3, but that would sweet.

  • @leon102 Ah, then maybe I need to get a Wii. :p

  • @leon102 Unfortunately, X is coming to Wii and Wii U exclusively.

  • @earlyriser03 Oh, well. I have a Wii, so no worries for me.

  • @earlyriser03 muh ha ha ha ha sony muh ha ha ha xbox

  • なんか今までのイメージと変わったドラクエの戦闘曲

  • summer song of 2010!!

  • Woah, the opening sounds really identical to DQIV's boss theme o.o

  • I've hardly dug into this game, but I've already decided this has to be one of the best battle themes ever. It doesn't get old. It ranks with Breath of Fire 3 and ATL: Twilight of the Spirits for battle themes that won't get on your nerves by the end, and that's all this music needs to do!

  • Fuck FF and DQ fanboys. Just let me enjoy my damn RPGs.

  • @Cecilink60 Okay, then enjoy them. No need to bitch.

  • @Cecilink60 DQ, Dragon Quest, Dairy Queen, Dragon Quest = Dairy Queen xD

  • Please don't flee please don't flee FUUUUUUUU

Guys use thunderstrike, or whatever it's called in english, or metal slash

  • @ThePogeymanzepic Except maybe Sephiroth

  • What a flappin' good game.

  • People need to stop being so nerdy about FF for once

  • @Guardaviewe3 Where's the Final Fantasy hmm? Go to the other side of the Square-Enix shop, you're on the Square side, come to Enix and see it's Dragon Quest, it's older, comical brother.

  • @AniqaTanhaAhmed What? All I was saying is that FF fans take FF too seriously. I think they're equal in accomplishment though

  • @Guardaviewe3 What? There are Final Fantasy people here too?

  • @AniqaTanhaAhmed yeah, check back in the rest of the comments :D

  • @AniqaTanhaAhmed FF people are OK, it's the FF fanboys that you should care about.

  • @frostare True. I love FF with a passion, but I flamme those who hates FF... exepct those who says LOLOLOL FF SUCKS!!!111!!1! without any real reasons...

  • @NeoArashi Oh nose! People with opinions! Burn in hell! Dude, what's wrong with you, there is no problem with people hating FF. I wouldn't care if you hated DQ, doesn't effect my enjoyment in the series.

  • @leon102 I guess I worded what I wanted to say wrong. I should have said that I do NOT flamme those who hates FF, exept those who just speaks like a noob (see example I wrote in my previous reply)

  • @DinoRave888 False... DQ shuts down entire countries upon release...

  • @deadnbacklolubad IV V and VI to me are the TRUE Final Fantasy's imo, as they are the only ones that the game battle system and style has kept over more than one game.

Also X had an AMAZING story.

  • @Superlightningblade but pretty shoddy voice acting (even Bender can't do Wakka, he seems to hiccup a bit during voice acting with his character)

  • Btw Sugiyama is the greatest living games composer.None comes close.

  • What are you talking about man? When talking about the battle system of those games, yeah they are completely new and fresh(different anyway).dont get me wrong i love both franchises equally.Uematsu is great but you should also check Sakimotos other works like valkyria chronicles and Vagrant story.Im a proffessional musician so i know a little bit more than most ppl here about music;)

  • Cheeriest sounding RPG battle music ever!

  • A slime draws near!

  • @V4LOVER Slime A calls for Backup....Slime B heeds the call xDD!!

  • @MrSeven13:

Yeah, this was literally ALL I DID for the entire month of July. :P

  • This theme reminds me of my summer

  • @jered91 in comparison DQ is Mario and FF was Luigi but is now turning into Crash

  • This is the first DQ game Ive played and I must say....

I want to pick up some other ones too because Ive thoroughly enjoyed it

  • @captainyoshi you should!!! this was my first also and because of it, i have found DQ IV AND V for DS. and in my honest opinion both have great stories compared to this one.

  • This game is so ass long :P 300 hours now trying to get Dragonlord's map. Dragon quest 8 battle is little better tho.

  • ouh very good

  • You walk peacefully through the lanDURURUDUDUDUDURU DARADA DARADA

  • I always did like this theme, while monotonous, it did make a battle more interesting. especially on the snowfields. the echoes in the background fit that area well.

  • dragon quest 9 is the best dragon quest ^^

  • Comparing this to FF13 just proves, once again, that superior technology doesnt exactly mean better games. I'm waiting for my copy to arrive next week along side mega man zero colllection, cannot wait! :O

  • I LOVE this game. I'd go for DQ9 then FF13 ANY DAY. Battle music is <333. Especially when you need to grind for that special boss. Keeps me goin' man! Played since 10pm-6am once! LOL.

  • I love the battler theme! This is how random encounters should be like in RPGs from now on!!!!

  • I cannot understand why SquareEnix decided to change the logo design for the game.

    I miss the T Sword

  • Dragon Quest 9 is awesome. This music is pretty cool in my opinion. I also like the boss music. The final boss music is my Favorite, though.

  • I've heard this around 1600 times....

  • wow i just heard this song for the 1,000,000th time! :D

  • Lmfaooo. BEST. THEME. EVER.

I actually run into a monster on purpose to hear this song.

And I never get bored of it, lol. XD

  • The coolest boss for me was Lieutenant Hootingham-Gore.

  • @JasonBurrows1989 King Godwyn was quite a pain for me, but my favourtie bosses are the ones from grottos (Equinox and Nemean)

  • @tictacmint I used the gritty ditty skill on his ass. raises your attack alot.

  • @GRH235 how do i get gritty ditty? i need it to fight corvus.

  • @brentcoltsfan You have to complete the minstrel quests in Alltrades Abbey. Talk to the ghost guy in the bar on the bottom floor. You'll need a level 40 minstrel in your party to get the last quest he gives you. Once completed, you'll get a book that, when held in your inventory, gives you the Gritty Ditty ability. Hope this helps!

  • @Raimu589 EVERY TIME!!!

My strategy in DQ9 is get all guys that can use claws or swords and use Hardclaw and Metal Slash respectively. It works almost all the time.

  • are u gonna upload the boss theme? im yet to find a version that actually sounds like the real thing.

  • This is the soundtrack to my nightmares.

  • dragon quest ix kicked a**. sure the game itself was pretty easy but man, Legacy bosses. Talk about old school. every final boss from DQ 1 + 8, as well as Baramos, Estark

  • dragon quest and mario galaxy 2! best two games I have played this year so far

  • It must've been hard to create a song that you'll hear so much and not get annoyed with, but the composer did a brilliant job.

  • The Metal Slime flees!

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • @Riamu589 OMG I NO RITE

  • @Riamu589 YEEESSSS!!! EVERY TIME!!!!

  • @Riamu589 lmao

  • @Riamu589 Im hunting Metal Medleys like a crazy motherfucker right now xD

  • Digoass has collasped!

    The party is wiped out.....

OHH NOO!! HE GOT KILLED BY A SLIME!!!

  • Digoass cast Kafrizzle!

  • This song is called "I Won't Lose" in case some of you are wondering.

  • A Dingoass drew near!

  • Any real musician should be able to comprehend the melodic brilliance of this song. It's a progressive masterpiece. Easily one of, if not THE best DQ/DW battle theme.

    Maybe tied with IV's... MAYBE...

  • Game: "The enemy are defeated."

    Me: lol wut

  • @Xero2021 I don't know about anyone else, but the grammar mistakes killed me a little on the inside every time. I got used to it, but still... We didn't need a direct translation, we still need it to make sense.

Imagine my surprise when they were playing it on Nintendo Week and even there the camera caught "The enemy are defeated." So obviously Nintendo must have noticed it...

  • @Flameclaw123 That's proper grammar, this topic has been discussed several times. Look it up.

  • @ FlameClaw123

Does it say 'The enemy are defeated' even when you only have a battle with a single monster? Because 'enemy' can be used as plural when using old english.

  • DQ battle themes seem to be getting more coherent, not saying that the previous ones weren't, but there was a certain rhythm that they didn't follow. Love this!

  • I'm going to get this in 3 1/2 days!!!!

    YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!

    =DDDDDDDDDD uberhappytime!!!!!

  • this is sooooo catchy OMG. Best battle theme in the series for me.

  • When I first heard this, I thought "Eh...lame."

Then after listening to it a few dozen times, it's become probably the best battle theme in the series for me.

Funny how these things turn out.

  • @chocobunneh Haha, I had the same situation as you. It's growing to be my favourite too. If only they had the orchestrated/symphonic suite music packed into the game rather than the traditional synth output, it'd be even more epic.

  • im getting it for my b day august ... yay and a slime plush toy to go with it

  • Dear lord this is so catchy.

  • @jered91 Or, y'know, they might just have a different opinion.

  • Awesome music, oh man, am so looking forward to this game, gonna be getting it most likely after my trip to Ohio.

  • Great melody but... why the low quality sound???

  • More Dragon Quest-y compared to VIII in my opinion. I really like this one!

  • This song has REALLY grown on me since i first heard it.

There are a couple of minor things about it that i would tweak (like its ending), but overall it is pretty incredible.

  • Sugiyama Kick Ass, We NEED DQ IX IN AMERICA NAOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • @HellMaynard Ah... Such a great release!

  • When the hell is this game coming out in the west? Japan, you've had your exclusivity for long enough!!! I NEED THIS!!!

  • Is this soundtrack composed by Koichi Sugiyama? It doesn't quite sound likes his usual work.

  • Go listen to the synth version of the boss battle theme from Dragon Quest 8 if you think this doesn't sound like his other works.

  • Hey My Friends !

In My Opinion this is one of the bests battle Themes of all rpgs ( Top 10 Certainly) listen again that song and look to the addction of gorgeous bass and powefull drums !!!

    FOR ME IT´S PERFECT!!!!!

  • Yeah, I also love the new battle theme. Especially the bass line is great, reminds me of old RPGs like Chrono Trigger which also had great bass lines in their songs.

  • Perfect That´s the spirit ! Chrono Trigger is a good example of nice bass lines You have a good memory !!

Reminds me Final Fantasy V too!!

In Time, Koichi Sugiyama and Nobuo Uematsu Two Monsters Of Game Music!!!!

  • U Forget Koji Kondo

  • @samoa92

I think Kondo is one of the legendary greats of all time!!!

  • is this game going to be for the ds or something?

  • yup only reason i bought my ds along with tna: cross the line & pokemon heart gold & soul silver

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with you on that, to me it doesn't have the same charm as the rest of the series battle themes. But I think the new overture and pub theme totally compensate for that. Koichi Sugiyama never fails do deliver.

  • Comment removed

  • This song's more catchy than the battle music in VII!

  • Wow, this theme really sounds great. I love Sugiyama's composing skills.

I hope it will soon be released in Germany. :D

  • I just finish this game last week.(It's japanese, so I can't read.) Lucky Emiru did the walkthrought. THANKS, YOUTUBE

  • Screw Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest IX is gonna be the best game of 2010.

  • You're kidding. DQ VIII kicks ass.

  • I got bored once I got the boat. I'm going to give it another chance sometime, but I didn't like the battle system and story all that much. It had nice visuals and music though.

  • I was hooked from the start. Once you beat Dhoulmagus is when the true game begins.

  • @1337BleachFan You know Mema, right? (JessicaAlbert13) ???

  • @MsNonoe

Not including America, Europe & elsewhere, in Japan alone Dragon Quest IX sold through 4.26 million copies to end the fiscal calendar. Conversely, Final Fantasy XIII sold 5.55 but that includes all territories -- in Japan alone it only did 1.85 which is HORRIBLE for that series. FFXIII has been something of a disaster for SquareEnix lately because it's been sucking worse and worse whereas DQ remains consistant no matter what platform it's on (as evidenced by the NDS).

  • @KarateCop Yes my friend but you must consider a few factors you did not.Ppl owning the ps3 are much fewer in Japan than the ds,even though ps3 is doing great in comparison with the xbox.Thats why the sales figures is 1.85 million in japan. If ff13 was released on the ds you would see almost similar sales(not so many,DQ is the king in Japan).Or better if ps3 was like ps2 in sales, then the ff13 would sell more than 5 million there.

  • @VFellhn

The simple fact of the matter is that DQ has been the most consistant top-seller in Japan whereas FF has been sliding down the scales farther and farther. FF simply isn't the same (great) series that it used to be, whereas DQ has retained its formula to a T. Same producer, same director, same scenario writer, same composer, et al. They may as well have killed FF off when Hironobu Sakaguchi left and Nobuo Uematsu got lazy. There is no comparison -- DQ blows FF out of the water.

  • @KarateCop, they're also different kinds of RPGs. Final Fantasy tends to get rather angsty, whereas Dragon Quest stays relatively light and cheerful, and isn't afraid to stop taking itself seriously (being made temporary King/Queen in Dragon Quest III was awesome). I wonder how much that has to do with it, perhaps Japanese gamers are starting to get sick of the constant whiny angst factor of Final Fantasy?

  • @geekymarianne

I'd say that the Japanese gamers tend to enjoy the whimsical fantasy setting, the top-notch writing and the consistant gameplay/soundtrack. These staples ensure that DQ will maintain its popularity. Today, FF lacks distinction from other similar RPGs and is no longer the benchmark -- it no longer sets a standard for others to follow -- unlike I-VII. There used to be a clear difference between FF and other RPGs of the bygone era. They set a high benchmark which has since fallen.

  • @KarateCop, I like the whimsical fantasy setting too hehe... While I enjoyed earlier FF games (like 1-7, 8 was a bit meh, I haven't played 9 but I hear it's good) they just seem a bit repetitive now. And while I enjoyed additions such as the Active Battle Timer used from 4 onwards (with visible bars in 5, yay!), their battle systems just seem kind of weird and convoluted now. With Dragon Quest, I know I'll get a good, if slightly old fashioned, battle system, and a fun and cute world to play in.

  • @geekymarianne

FFIX is decent but not as good as previous installments. Square's problem is that they keep trying to reinvent the wheel to compensate for lack of depth and a lackluster soundtrack but, as you said, it just becomes too drawn out & convoluted. The character designs are all custom-tailored for cosplay rather than basing it off an interesting plot along with an imaginative world. Also, the lead male is always designed like a metrosexual. What a turn-off.

    The charm is gone.

  • @KarateCop, I did enjoy the remakes of Final Fantasy III and IV on the DS, hopefully they'll remake V and VI, especially V with its fun job system (and fun music), on the 3DS. For Final Fantasy to have any chance of restoring its previous good name, WE NEED 3D BUTZ!

  • @geekymarianne

FFV didn't have a great soundtrack. Both IV and VI decimate V in that department. To restore the FF franchise would be nearly impossible at this point. As I said, most of the original creators are gone. Even if they could get Nobuo back, he's simply nowhere near as good as he used to be. They'd need a producer who demanded a certain level of quality and a director who could do likewise.

  • @KarateCop Well even though FF changed its formula in the last 2 games it doesnt mean that they are bad in any way. They are just different.I prefer this situation cause,if i have the mood for the more traditional,i play my beloved DQ,if i want some new mechanics i insert FF13 or 12.Uematsu didnt write for FF12 but then again Sakimoto for me is the better composer so it didnt bother me.Evolving and staying traditional are both good things if done properly.

  • @VFellhn

It's funny that you said "new mechanics" since there's nothing really new or revolutionary about the play mechanics of FFXII-XIII. Sakimoto is nowhere near as good as Nobuo used to be. You may say "that's a matter of opinion" but most people seem to agree with my sentiment. There are plenty of opinions given about the new soundtrack and most people think it's dull. When it comes to "what FF used to be VS what it has become" dispute, it's not even a contest.

  • @KarateCop What are you talking about man? When talking about the battle system of those games, yeah they are completely new and fresh(different anyway).dont get me wrong i love both franchises equally.Uematsu is great but you should also check Sakimotos other works like valkyria chronicles and Vagrant story.Im a proffessional musician so i know a little bit more than most ppl here about music;)

  • @VFellhn

Sugiyama is definitely one of the best, but the best? I don't know. He's definitely top 3 and one of the most consistant.

FFXII-XIII have new/renovated battle systems for the series itself but aren't groundbreaking. Sakimoto was good way back when but is no longer anything special IMO.

P.S. I'm also a musician but that doesn't necessarily entail being more knowledgeable than anyone else, except maybe in theory/counterpoint. Still, my opinion is not "superior" as a result.

  • @VFellhn

As a matter of fact, while composing, I've found that theory doesn't really add much of anything. From my experience, composing good music is not a matter of breaking down particulars but rather the result of inspired creativity and a having a good ear.

  • @KarateCop Sry for answering so late. Its true that inspired creativity and the good ear are the keys to great music but just having those are not enough. You just have to have the tools too and to me Sugiyama is by far the most experienced and trained(not sure is the right word)composer and the most gifted anyway.Sakimoto coming second.Dont get me wrong,i love Uematsu's music.i adore it actually.

  • @VFellhn

Well what do you mean by "just having those are not enough"? A highly creative imagination and a good ear always take precedence over any formulative theory. Experience is of course a necessary prerequisite -- as the saying goes, "Skill to do comes of doing." It doesn't matter if the composer has just a simple MIDI program or a million dollars' worth of equipment. Bach wrote masterpieces with nothing more than a few sheets of manuscript, a pen and his unique imagination.

  • @VFellhn

No matter how much formal training a person undergoes nor how many instruments/equipment, a composer only becomes good through much experience and practice, and having a good ear (e.g. sense of timing, melodic shape, harmonic motion, etc.). There is no substitute. You could train for a decade in the most acclaimed music academies and still be an incompetent composer. Being a good composer has nothing to do with education and everything to do with a good work ethic and persistance.

  • @realw0rld , come on don´t act like a child please

  • @realw0rld , Did you know I have never played DQ ;) I'm talking about you making a comment because you're comment is marked as spam and calling people assholes with it. Even though it is your opinion, you got to think about it that people might be offended. And respect that as well.

  • @yiffenstijn Never played DQ! Well, no wonder your so grumpy all the time, you gotta' play one now! X D
