You will notice that most Pro Bass players hang their bass this high or higher.

i think its mainly done for slapping but then again in Jazz and Proggresive metal and stuff hanging bass this high is common.

Awesome dude, you killed it! Harry would be proud... For everyone saying your bass should be lower, wrong! With the bass up high you can reach all of the frets more easily, tap, sweep, slap & pop and play scales more easily. This is especially true on a 5 or 6 string...try doing a 5 string sweep above the 12th fret with the bass at your nut sack and tell me it's easier.
