  • One of my favorite songs from the 70's.

  • @bryantraleigh me 2...

  • love this!!!!!! take me back clavon06

  • I've said it once and I'll say it again nothing and I mean nothing stirs the emotions like soul music. Can I get a amen?

  • rievans57 AHMan

  • I feel like 1973 (without the hairdo). brings back such overwhelming memories of a simple time. great real music

  • So that's it...we don't get to hear anymore harmonizing? Not a bright future. Sigh. Good thing I have most of this music.

  • Classic soul at it's best! Check out what "Stone Harmony" does with it.

  • The good ole days! Great music!!! Great times !!!! I miss my friends that are long gone. We had some good times!!! !

  • this is a bad jam love it

  • @MrBigpapi01: I could never raise my kids to appreciate music that calls women bitches and hoes....so when you say all genres i can't get that. I teach my kids to strive for excellence in all things, and to me calling females bitches and hoes is not talent and certainly not music. We need to go back to the old time standard so we don't lose the ablity to produce music that uplifts, makes people feel good. Not music that promotes killing and violence. To me that is all demonic vibrations.

  • 29 this year and been singing along to this song since I was 10. Thank you Mom

  • Let's stop picking on the youngsters yall....it's our faults that we didn't raise them up on this quality music. If all they hear day in and day out....is that stupid rap crap then that is normal to them. We need to flood our homes with this era of music so they can see and feel what excellence in music should sound like. We must expose them to this.....because we will be gone one day and it is up to them to carry on.

  • @READY4REVELATION so true thats why my children can sing these songs cause thats all they hear in my car and around the house but they also listen to that other stuff but i gave them the roots of music.

  • @READY4REVELATION I raised mine to appreciate music of all genres, but I made sure that the classics were their foundation!

  • @READY4REVELATION I also raised my children to appreciate all types of music..not RAP. We went out town often, old school R&B was played in our vehicle. I would never expose my sons to the likes of such disrespecting women , adults etc..you get the picture. Now on another note, grown people will do what they want to..no matter how you raise them.

  • I am soooo lovin this!!!!

  • You younster's dont know nothing about this !! and never will.

  • @DirectionalDriller1 im 31 check my playlist (why you in my playlist bitch?) name of playlist.. my fam played these songs all the time.. i mean 2 death, thas y i knw them by heart! i love em!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Zulazulaz lmao! i didnt know id hear anyone from amsterdam where that rapper juelz santana and camronr always bringing up in their music... damn yall got a proud tradition in harlem and all of NYC, im in west oakland(aka harlem of the west) and always hear blacks reminiscing about the 60s and 70s , i was born in the 80s but its a damn shame things changed so much

  • The 70's was a great time for the music genre. Because of the many classics generated during this era it's hard to say any one song was your favorite. So much of the music of this generatation has stood the test of time. A compliment to the greatness of the singers and muscians who REALLY SUNG THE SONGS and PLAYED the INSTRUMENTS. MrGoldStander09 it's good to know that teenagers not only recognize but can apprecitate good music. The 1970's you had to have been there. What a great time!!!

  • If i had a million dollors........ i am 37 and wish i could go back to the time when music like million dollors was being played in the black light parties in your moms basement or in a soul club..... I cant so i just sit back and sip on a cocktail and pretend...........

  • Oooooh does this song caress and make ya feel good all over. Thanks Clavon06.

  • I agree with you @ nnjeri!!!!!!

  • @tutti1331... so would I... I'd part with 2 million dollars to go back!

  • This is such beautiful music.

  • I love this song and the way it makes me feel. This was music pure and simple at its best. No cursing, swearing or nasty lyrics. Lots of great singing and talent then. ... Jonesy ... remember the name

  • Why are you lying?

  • I'm being so completely honest ... my dad also sang in top shelf and tomorrow's edition

  • This is one of my favorite groups.I don't appreciate this.

  • There was nobody named Jonesy in the group! Maybe your father sang with another group. What is your father's real name.

  • I got some of those shows on 1 dvd that i got from a man at a baltimore flea market--click on my name to see 1 of those groups i would love to see the early Soul Generation performing those songs

  • This takes me back to parties in the basement, red or blue ligts. Good times growing up in B-More.

  • Hello people i was born in 1977 so i don't know nothing about s.o.u.l--but this guy put it on dvd for me with the performance of black ivory-al green-new birth-nite lyters-and harold melvin and the blue notes

  • hey if you have a dvd of soul you have got to make that available. It ain't fair to keep that to yourself. That is our history and heritage on that DVD dude. You got black ivory and soul generation, oh man. Send us a msg and let's talk brotha! That dvd would be a even greater classic then the soul train classics. WOW.

  • Hey cthe ,glad you know the originality about Soul a term that the music bizness allowed to be taken away from us due to too much cross-over.Some things were considered too Black by the Mainstream! They even had a Soul music catergory back then along side Pop,RB,Rock,Jazz.Ours is the only one that somehow got eliminated. We need to go back to our Roots and continue doing what we did to continue our legacy.Sing True Soul MUSIC!

  • alot of people that live up north should be thankful cause alot of those groups that are mention here lives up there--where i live its blues all the time and all that southern music its not 2 many people that can have a conversation to me about the Whatnauts, Softones, Skip Mahoaney & Casuals

  • Like newblackmusic I would love to see that DVD!You have a Gold Mine on your hands! That is rare stuff if I ever heard of any!!I would look into it,plus you can also benifet if you know what I mean!!

  • i got the dvd on my page so far i got Jimmy Briscoe & Little Beavers doing a rare song called ( Sugar Brown) its more people like New BIRTH--BlackIvory--Mandrill--Al Green and i think the Nite-Liters

  • if i remember correctly, all of the performances on soul were live...no lip singing. i remember seeing stevie wonder and i think the last poets..

  • The tv show "Our Street" was about a family I believe living in Baltimore MD. During the summer the show aired my whole neighborhhod was late for summer camp every day cuz camp started at 9AM and Our Street didn't go off till 9. • Just checking but in nyc we had a show called SOUL that used to come on PBS.

I distinctly remember the soul generation on there sing body and soul and million dollars. I remember because their steps were so tight. I think the host of the show was named ellis hayslip. I called the pbs archive butthey did not know of the show.

If anyone knows of this hit me back.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!

  • The show was called Soul! and aired nationally Wednesday nights on PBS-TV. The show host, the late Ellis Hazlip. This was a groundbreaking show for black entertainment. Unfortunately, many of the Soul! broadcasts are lost due to PBS having to reuse a precious broadcast videotape for the next show, as confirmed by the PBS Archive Department. RIP Ellis, many thanks.

  • Hey thank you so much for that. Yes it was a ground breaking and great show. We used to watch Soul and monty python and another black show , a soap opera called 'our street' i think it was out of boston. All of these great shows and no such thing as cable. At least now we have some confirmation thanks!!!!!!

  • I am in contact with Cliff of The Soul Generation, we will be talking today, I will ask him if by chance he or the other group members have that precious performance. The group is reuniting for another round of sweet soul, so more soul to come!!!

  • I remember the show "Soul" from when i lived in N.Y. back in the day and also I thought I was the only one that remembered "our street" I used to love that show

  • hey right on brother. Wasn't that great TV back then. We called pbs some years ago to find out about getting those tapes, the pbs archive said those tapes no longer exist.

Wow i guess that means we're getting really old.

Still it just goes to show that we must treasure our history.

    Peace!

  • I remember that show. I was telling my daughter about it. My aunt wanted to watch the Tom Jones Show and I wanted to watch Soul. Of course I won! (lol). I remember seeing Black Ivory, Soul Generation and Jimmy Briscoe and The Little Beavers. Ive always wonered why it never aired again...now I know why.

  • yes,yes,yes! I remember watching "SOUL"on PBS.

They featured all local soul talent in the ny,nj, and philly area. Thanks for reminding me of the host name.

  • a performance by the group would've been better

  • Much appreciated!!!!
