In a shoot-out something needs to indicate when the kick is finished and over. One of those is when the ball ceases to travel in a forward direction.  The ref called it wrong.

In fact France going out on penalties is 86' world cup I think had the ball come off the post, hit their 'keeper's head and go in. Goal allowed.

If this were a penalty SHOOT OUT, then the ball would be "dead" because it was deflected forward by the keeper.

No, dude. Just because the ball touched the keepers hand and was deflected forward (or any other direction) doesn't make it a dead ball. According to FIFA rules (Laws 2 and 9), a ball is only dead either from falling outside the playing boundary or by referee stoppage. Even a handball, technically, is a live ball. It is only dead cause the ref calls it so after spotting the foul. The ref never blew the whistle 'cause he saw the ball still rolling forward. Great call on his part.

The referees ruled that the goal did not count because the forward momentum of the ball was stopped. I wonder how this is different. i guess the ball came back on its own.

Actually, "real professionals" in a SPORT would not ALWAYS keep their head in the game. For example a touchdown in American football, they always celebrate. A home run in baseball - celebration. Goal in football/soccer - celebration. 3 point shot or 100% free throws in basketball - celebration. Goal in hockey - celebration. Hole in one in golf - celebration. Think of any other sport, and there is celebration involved in it all. Showboating is a form of celebration. Good try, sir.
