Joe, once you get to your level (which i assume you have been at gor over 10 years) what does your practice routine consist of, or is it mainly juat keeping your touch once you know all the strokes? Im a young aspiring Victorian billiard player. Do yo think having a set practice routine and setting goals for each exercise etc is the best way to go? Im a regular 40 break player in our league down here. Thanks in advance
@S7R31F Yes, I do have a standard practice routine which always starts with the standard long loser from the blue spot. In my routine I have all the standard half balls with other basic billiard shots and also I do potting practice of the spot. I do think that having set expectations/goals in a practice session are important. Good luck.
hi,i was told that in english billiards if you pot the yellow or the other players cue ball,it statys in the pocket till your finished scoring points on the red then it gets put back on the D,is this right?
Very interesting. I've never seen this game played before. We have different games that we play on pool tables here in the States such as 8-ball, 9-ball, Straight Pool, and One Pocket to name just a few. Are there other games that you would play on that table besides Snooker and English Billiards?
which form of billiards is this? i didn't realise you could pot a ball if you prefer instead of cannoning against the other ball. i don't really understand the rules i don't think
@BaToScAp227 the idea is to use the white to hit off 1 ball, and cannon the white off and hit the other ball (hitting 2 balls), you get more points for it if you hit the cussion first :P
Incidentally he does a huge amount of work with players simply for the love of and to promote the beautiful game. I am certain he is posting this video not for personal aggrandisement but to encourage players and demonstrate superb skills, oh and if you want to see something special ask him to direct you to the link where he pots the colours one handed. You need to learn to charge Joe!
The player here is being way too modest just saying he plays in State and National leagues. Any Australians will recognise him instantly as our multiple national champion and nine times NSW State Open Billiards Champion. A fine coach, a dedicated professional and one of the nicest guys in the game. He has been a shining if somewhat modest ornament to the game in Sydney for a generation. How he does not respond to this gratutitous criticism from self-professed experts is beyond me. Salute Joe.
the control you had in that break was immence, making breaks in billiards looks so easy once your opponents ball is on the bottom cush below the red. but it takes massive concentration! so very well done! :)
just watched it again and that is some slow table, still a good break, but if i played a lot of those top of the table shots on the table i play at god no way could you keep the red up there
hi m8 not bad play on a decent quick table tho and u wouldnt got some of them but as im a proffessional and a coach u kept good control nearley all the way through the break
leewatson, ur not a pro or a coach. if you was you would of played me or iwould no about you, but no. and y do you think a fast table would make it harder!! and do you not think he would adjust his shots if he was on a different table?? muppet
Yep nice break ace. The table u play on looks on the slow side, far better 4 playing billiards in my view ie u have more control over cannons, especially drop cannons. On fast tables the loosing hazard game is the best scoring method. Who do u rate as the best player u have seen play paulsy?? U no any players over here??
Thanks 'istabraug' I agree with your comments, i have a good billiard break on one of my clips made at the same club. As for who I rate as the best player, please elaborate 'snooker or billiards' and do you mean now or of all time ? As for me I haven't played any great players, I have never been to the U.K. though I believe Geet Sethi is coming to Sydney pretty soon and maybe Geet and I might get in a game.
If you tried a couple of in-offs before that cannon you would have crossed 200 easily. Nice clip. Have you seen any online table where they play the three ball game? Or a software. Like you I need to play alone here in the middle east. No one plays the three ball game here.
excellent great control, was it not better to pot the red into the middle rather than play the canon and lose position although you will be disapointed not to get that last canon, but its great to see you keeping billiards alive

There is a limit to how many cannons you can make before you have to make another kind of scoring shot. That's why he does it like this.

that's good... keep the man running around.... he should lose some weight if he keeps playing this game...

@wjship As far as I know English billiards and snooker are the only games played on a full size table (12'x6')

is the aim of the gam eto pot the white then? i am used to snooker where you try not to pot the white and do not know how to play this game?
