is it just me or does every band at every point in Johns career have to cater to Johns inability to remember the lyrics and his complete lack of timing?!?!..and I say that as huge John fan!!
ya only its not "she lived in a tree" its a whole name of a person..
I can't remember how the last name is spelled exactly but its like galligenistri or something like that..
It was a real person one of the first to actual get a legal abortion (they used to be illegal) and that pissed Johnny off so he made this song about her..
no you should stop giving a fuck and absorb what he is trying to say (its not ur interpritation that counts like in bob dylan songs)he clearly is saying its neither, he is saying that it is diffrent in diffrent situations, abortion can be good and bad
its great how none of the idiots posting on this forum even know that out of "these guys" the lead singer is johnny rotten... what a shame that with all of this musical authority no one posting even knows their history
pardon me...it absolutely sucks, actually. i wish schools taught a history of punk rock class so that kids could actually be informed on that of which they pontificate. but no, to answer your inane question, i could care less about how i look. we are, after all, on the goddamn web, and no one can see me...
I saw this concert on a MTV special called Rock of the 80s. The band was at their prime. I would love to see the other songs they performed at this venue posted as well.
I'm not completely sure when this was made, but it is identical to the last show of theirs I saw, in DC in 1984, the "Going Over To The Other Side" year. I remember being surprised when they did this song, because when I saw them two years earlier, it was very anti-Pistols, no dyed red hair, minimalist showmanship, etc.
This was definitely not done BEFORE 1984. There aren't even any original PiL members there except John himself.
hehe, yeah I suppose the Sex Pistols had a lot of shitty gigs technically, but that didn't really matter because they were fueled by adrenaline and the energy level was so high!
but this was before, say, mid 77. they really sucked when sid joined, and the more heroin he injected they more they sucked.
No they're not, they give people the ability to have more control over their life, if circumstances don't go too well. People should have the freedom of choice. Johnny himself said he wasn't making it in anger over her having a abortion, he made it because she was batshit crazy. (she supposedly brought the foetus to a gig) He has actually publicly stated that people should have the freedom of choice over the issue.
yeah, I totally agree with you on that one, but I think that they actually did this song pretty well (at least better than other Sex Pistol songs they did live).
Lydon is a real genius. With Pistols HE invented an image and a very influential music style. With PIL he composed one of most original and influential music. And he made very Big Money but is it wrong? "Big Money" i think is like addiction like drugs and alcool :-) God Bless John Lydon
fab, my comment was meant for the comment above mine, (the one about big money, I think johnny rotten starved some here and there, his big moneys no skin off my nose) but I prefer to think of him as my muse and an important inspiration, not jesus, but he can be your jesus.....
I don't think Rotten is Jesus, it was only an answer to your comment of disagreement. My first comment was only a consideration about his career and his influential style directed to the people that blame him about his popularity. Nothing more
No, he didnt ivent an image. of coyrse he wasnt pushed into it, but there was something more than just John's imagination. Vivienne Westwood, for example.
first time i saw pil singing a psitols tune. i think it must be around 1983 or 1985. the band seems to be the same than the live in tokyo tapes. am i wrong ?
And, yet, they always seemed to do a cover of "Anarchy In The U.K."...
And Lydon was supposed to have left the Pistols for good after their final show at the Winterland Ballroom, and, yet, in '96, BAM! Sex Pistols reunion!
If I may continue, how about leaving your ego behind when you're leaving COMMENTS ON YOUTUBE?!?
Oooh, I'm so scared of the keyboard badass!
Seriously, fuck off. It's people like you, TrapperMillan, ones who take what they hear for exactly what it is, who are so fucking afraid to think outside of the box, you're the people that bands like PiL and the Pistols were rebelling against.
And, leaving something behind doesn't mean forgetting it. What fucking harm did playing this song ONCE do?
at first I thought he was making fun of Flipper over the 'Public Flipper Ltd.' thing but he was just talking about the dolphin.

There isn't anything great with this clip AT ALL!
John sings fucking horrible and the band sounds really really tired, the very opposite to how the Pistols used to sound.
I really love PiL though, put I suppose this was their poorest incarnation.
