Also, I don't think she was a bad wife. She didn't lie to him to marry him, he knew way before that that she didn't want to have kids. And the fact that the writers had to put her laughing of him in this episode to try to prove his point at the end, shows that the reality is before that she hadn't really done anything bad to him. I hate how the woman is always seen as the bad one, because she knows what she wants and wouldn't change for a man, such a sexist society.
I hate all the hate against Cristina. People just don't really respect other opinions and the right a woman has to choose. Owen knew her and what she wanted, so it means what he expected is she was going to change. If he doesn't really love who she is and wants her to change then he is not better than how Burke was. And to the people who says that if she doesn't want kids she should have had cut her tubes, it's not so easy, that surgery changes you, it changes your hormones and metabolism.
@commentingize you're right. women have the right to choose. and she CHOSE to have sex. the problem with people today is they want the right to chose but not the consequences of those choices. She wasn't raped. Her life wasn't in danger. That philosophy irritates me more than anything. So no, I don't respect people who can't accept the consequences for their actions.

Women who are raped don't get the luxury of making a choice -- something terrible is forced upon them. Regular women who have that luxury should take ownership of their lives, not hide behind "escape routes" and easy ways out of tough situations.
Cristina panicked when she found out she's pregnant, like all women would. Although she did not include Owen when she made up her mind, she did tell him. Then guess what? Owen was pissed that Cristina made the choice and made her LEAVE THE HOUSE. If there is any time to change her mind, the time she waited to have the abortion would have been the only chance. BUT instead of nicely sharing his opinion, he refuses to talk to her. I like Owen, but I think he married the wrong person.
@starvvn Where you're wrong...Christina did tell Owen that she was pregnant and that she was going to abort and that there is nothing he can do or say to change her mind. I think it was a selfish decision and in a marriage their is no room for selfishness.

Instead of being angry at her BEFORE the abortion, wouldn't it be better to try harder to communicate? I agree that Cristina did not respect Owen enough in a marriage. But, after knowing her for 8 seasons, we all know she is not a person who understands feelings well. Her communication skills are really low as well. We can't expect anything more from her, character wise.
Even though Cris should have listened to Owen more and discuss more, there are many instances (like in 7x16) where they mention having talked about whether or not to have kids. Cristina is always really firm on not having a baby while Owen is brushing it off to later till she "come around".
To me, Cristina did talk, Owen just did not want to face the fact that he married a woman who does not want to have kids. EVER.
Nobody said a thing when they found out about Addison's abortion, and suddenly people are making a fuss over Cristina being so selfish for this horrible thing she did.
"A life that I envisioned for myself" <-- says it all really. If Owen loved and respected Cristina, why didn't he discuss his dreams and plans before he married her? Why didn't he include her in the building of them? Cris has always been honest about what she wants. He just assumed she'd come around and want kids, that she didn't know her own mind, and you can't build a marriage on hoping someone will change. They're both selfish people who don't communicate enough.
And I think Owen is the best thing that ever happened to her. He made her a better person and taught her at least some bedside manners. Obviously not enough......Cristina cares. Yes. But not about her husband. Not now. I know she loves him. But as she took him for granted far too long she maybe thought she neednt work on her marriage. But its time to wake up. She wont have a baby ever and he must accept it. And in return she should be nicer to him an help him to get over it.
@italoluder I agree with you, though, on she needing to be nicer to him. I think she's doing her best to support Teddy (only Cristina can help her), that's why she is inappropriate and crosses the line sometimes, I think she means well, but of course she gets it wrong sometimes, especially with him. She will realize that eventually.
Owen knew what he was getting into; she made it clear that she is a surgeon first and that she will not alter herself for someone else again after what happened with Burke. I guess he didn't think it through. QQ OWEN!
And for the record, I think Cristina is more caring than people give her credit for. She might not show it so much with Owen or her patients, but she cares deeply about Meredith, Teddy, and really cares about children, in a way that she doesn't take lightly the responsability of being a parent. She cares deep enough to not have them.
Christina is also a big hypocrite as well. she thinks she can do whatever she wants without any consequences or punishment. she makes a big deal of what owen did, but as soon owen yells at her b/c of her abortion. she says "cant we just forget about it?" you got to be kidding me, right.

@thehero817 For me, I think that when he took her back, when he accepted to go with her to the appointment, that was them taking the decision together. He's just taking it all out on her now that he's having second thoughts. All he does is resent her. Cristina has always spoken her mind. People say that she's the one who doesn't want to talk, but Owen is all the same. He never wanted to discuss anything. And she was open to it, but he never wanted to share. Just looked angry or left the room.
I'm on Owen's side on this one. He has the right to be frustrated and angry with Christina. she only thinks of herself and thinks she do whatever she wants and never include Owen in any of it. she had an abortion of their baby. that's just terrible. I know not telling teddy about her dead husband was wrong but as chief of surgery, he has to consider the lives of the patients. teddy and yang need to imagine in being in owen's shoes and what would they have done in his position.
Truth of the matter is Christina never once considered Owen's feelings in regards to the abortion. She just expected him to understand her perspective and thats it. I've been having a hard time liking Yang lately sometimes I feel like she doesn't deserve Owen.
When Cristina was mocking Owen, it was a little too much. He's still the chief and the fact that she can't be professional and takes her husband at work for granted is incredibly childish. She has every right to be upset with him in regards to Henry's death but the poor guy was stuck in a terrible situation and he did the best he could. At the end of the day, he is still her husband and she should've defended him and stand by him. I hope they solve this baby mess out soon. I want Crowen babies!

I love Cristina a lot, but I think she really should've discuss with Owen more on the abortion.
As hot as the pair is, I never think they are the one for each other. They believe and value very different things.
While it is unforgivable to kill a fertilized egg(6 weeks can barely count as a fetus), having a baby is much more difficult on the mom than the dad, so Cristina does get more say in this. I'm sure the abortion hurts Cristina, too.
It's a recurrent problem on Grey's since...ever I think. They have terrible sound editors.
There were episodes where barely could be heard what the actors were saying. And that is especially difficult to foreigner viewers. There were times I had to play the scene again again and again to finaly understand what they were saying. Maybe the english speaking's viewers don't notice that so much, like us.

Sandra Oh and Kevin McKidd are absolutely amazing in this scene. This scene shows what brilliant actors they both are. The fact that Sandra Oh hasn't won an Emmy for playing Yang is COMPLETELY NUTS.

It was TEDDY'S idea to let her operate on her husband. She even called her a robot. SHE decided NOT to tell her in the first place. Owen did not tell her because she was operating and he acted as CHIEF! But it was wrong of him to send his wife in. That was so wrong. But since Cristina does not give a crap about him the past months I dont give a fuck if they lied into Teddy's face. She is a stupid cow who had no scruple to tell him she was keen on him when knowing he is in a relationship.
Since season 6 I always feel like Yang is just waiting for him to leave her like the others which could be part of the reason why she will not relent with her devotion to Cardio. She knows her personal limitations when it comes to people (apart from Meredith) Which is why she never looks at the big picture or picks up on other peoples feelings.
C & O are both wrong/right. He knew she didn't want to have children before they were married, O just assumed he could change C's mind. C knew O wanted to have children before they were married, she just assumed he would accept the fact that she didn't and they would move on. They both rushed into marriage. There are some fundamental questions a person must ask his/her potential life partner before a wedding can take place and they didn't do it. They are both to blame for the mess they are in.
I could me wrong on this but am mad at owen. If he is so upset with Christina's abortion then why did he finally agree with her decision and even go to the preciture and hold her hand.

@9400lilly No, he admitted that they had the conversation before. It may not have happened on screen , but it was clearly stated that they had discussed it. He also clearly admitted that he was placating her until she "grew up" and changed her mind and she was clearly surprised that he wanted children during that conversation. Completely ignoring the facts that were shown on screen just proves my point about Cristina always being to blame, no matter what, for "Owen & Cristina" fans.

I love C, her ambition and unapologetic drive, which inevitably makes her selfish, and I love O, strong, emotional, loves with every fibre of his being but slightly naive. O hoped C would change her mind and C was arrogant enough to think that he would do as she said. In the end, the decision to have a baby must be the woman's.

I know this is true about Cristina, yet I am still a fan, because I understand what it is that makes her a selfish person. I don't know how you can be a fan and ignore this essential character flaw. It's who she's always been. It's like Karev -- he's an asshole undeniably, but you get why. It makes them less than perfect, and actually makes them more interesting and realistic characters.
@ActionAimz You know, it's funny that you had thouhgt about that bc sometime ago I did that comparization myself. And actually Karev doesn't irritate me so much bc I relate better w his motivation . Altough both characters are genuine, I think he has more altruistic motivations. He seems deeply arrogant and selfish but I don't truly think he is. @XsweetstarliteX we have the same thinking. Except that I think when there are two loving partners the decision always must be from both, bc the child belongs to man too. And that's why I always tell strong will young woman to think about marriage seriously bc not always is advantageous for woman. When you are single you can decide alone. When you're married it's not only your will that matters otherwise, it can invalidate the relationship.

She married HIM knowing full well that he wanted a baby, so when you make one accidentally, and still stick to an unwavering position, there are consequences to face or maybe at the very least you'd try to be a tad bit more sensitive. Very painful to watch but i'm glad they finally addressed it. C was moving on but O is still hurting. Everyone saying its C fault is wrong. No one is to blame, it';s one of those things that people should discuss before marriage but forget because they're head over heels in love. The only thing wrong here is the setting, they should've had this out at home, meredith and derek are fine but the whole damn hospital hearing this is not okay, especially when he accuses C of murder. I'm loving this.
When in season 6 (maybe 6x06), Owen said to Cris ' it's one surgery' and she answered ' it's not one surgery' or something like that. I remember that Owen came to his senses and tried
everything to redeem himself and help her. Started to invite her for complicated surgeries, offered help for her improve her lab skills and even tried to find a cardiogod to mentor her( though that this last one went very wrong) He tried everything in his power to understand her and make her happy. She stayed with him through his PTSD mess and went to therapy with him when he nearly choked her to death, screamed at her in public and would throw things around and scare her. She also put up with his Teddy mess and him lying to her about it. She also bought the house, that he kicked her out of, because he wanted it. He hasn't done anything for her i that relationship.

And a relationship is different than a marriage, for the rest of your life. He invited her to 1 procedure, which she never got to do because he gave it away. Any other time, he laughed it off. So what if he helped her in a skills lab once, he’s an attending, that was his job anyway. He never put himself out for her, like she did for him.

In fact I even really like these small discussions because it helps to think and ponder situations that not being real, may well open our minds to things that happen in life. @italoluder If I were her, I would choose my career over him too. She worked toward that her whole life. Her staying with him after he nearly choked her to death does count, especially when people keep saying how selfish she is and that she has not made any concessions. @TwinPower93 He went to therapy for himself because she left him and he wanted to be with her. That wasn't a sacrifice for her. No, it wasn't right for her to disrespect him, but I don't feel too much sympathy for him because, like she said, he created that situation. He made her operate on Henry, when she was too close to the situation to begin with, and lied to her about it, then forced her to lie to Teddy for hours. They have all disobeyed Richard's orders before, including Owen.

When she gave him back the wedding ring the very next day he fought for her, when she quit her job because she was traumatized, he did not push her and let her do as she wanted. so dont tell me he never gave in. @italoluder It isn't a concession when someone leaves you and you want them back, he didn't lose anything. IMO, She should have left him both times.She's the one who lost out on cardio surgeries while staying with him because of Teddy's jealousy, that's a concession. Jackson kissed Cristina, she pushed him away. He never gave up anything because he never knew about it. He had feelings for Teddy and lied to her about it. Also, he didn't help her by marrying her in that state.

@italoluder My take is that she never wanted to bring it up, because she thought that if she did, it would make it worse. I agree she's a bit selfish, but I think he's being much more selfish. And don't get me wrong. I get Owen. I get his overwhelming desire to be a father, and I get he's heartrbroken. I really feel for him, in a way. Amazing acting. This needed to happen and while it is going to be so hard for them to get through i KNOW they will. I think it is time Cristina fought for Owen as it is usually the other way around. Love these two!

I'm a Cristina and Owen fan! I understand where both characters are coming from. I'm glad that Owen let Cristina have it because he's hurting.. And I feel his frustration in which their marriage is so one sided. Cristina doesn't really understand that a marriage is a partnership.. It's good that Shonda is addressing the fallout between Cristina and Own in terms of the abortion. Derek's expression and sympathy when everyone heard what Owen said to Cristina was painful to watch.

Also, I don't think she was a bad wife. She didn't lie to him to marry him, he knew way before that that she didn't want to have kids. And the fact that the writers had to put her laughing of him in this episode to try to prove his point at the end, shows that the reality is before that she hadn't really done anything bad to him. Owen was pissed that Cristina made the choice and made her LEAVE THE HOUSE. If there is any time to change her mind, the time she waited to have the abortion would have been the only chance. Even though Cris should have listened to Owen more and discuss more, there are many instances (like in 7x16) where they mention having talked about whether or not to have kids. Cristina is always really firm on not having a baby while Owen is brushing it off to later till she "come around".
To me, Cristina did talk, Owen just did not want to face the fact that he married a woman who does not want to have kids. EVER.

He's just taking it all out on her now that he's having second thoughts. All he does is resent her. Cristina has always spoken her mind. Awesome acting, very touching and emotional scene.
I love Cristina a lot, but I think she really should've discuss with Owen more on the abortion.
As hot as the pair is, I never think they are the one for each other. They believe and value very different things.
While it is unforgivable to kill a fertilized egg(6 weeks can barely count as a fetus), having a baby is much more difficult on the mom than the dad, so Cristina does get more say in this. I'm sure the abortion hurts Cristina, too.

There were episodes where barely could be heard what the actors were saying. And that is especially difficult to foreigner viewers. There were times I had to play the scene again again and again to finaly understand what they were saying. Maybe the english speaking's viewers don't notice that so much, like us.

It was TEDDY'S idea to let her operate on her husband. She even called her a robot. SHE decided NOT to tell her in the first place. And that's why I always tell strong will young woman to think about marriage seriously bc not always is advantageous for woman. When you are single you can decide alone. No one is to blame, it';s one of those things that people should discuss before marriage but forget because they're head over heels in love. When she was struggling professionally, he made jokes about it behind her back. He did nothing for her during her PTSD, that was mostly Meredith and Derek. I don’t blame her for choosing her career over him, especially with all the crap she had to put up with. He's worse than Burke. At least Burke didn't marry her like Owen did, when she was emotionally unstable.

She forced herself on him when he was emotionally unstable. See? "What has he done for her professionally?" Started to invite her for complicated procedures when he realised she liked it, Helped her in the lab skills, put up with continued disrespect for him as head. And yes searched for a teacher w good intention...

@9400lilly She never forced herself on him. She made an argument to continue the relationship and then quickly realized that it was not healthy to. And a relationship is different than a marriage, for the rest of your life. He invited her to 1 procedure, which she never got to do because he gave it away. Any other time, he laughed it off. So what if he helped her in a skills lab once, he’s an attending, that was his job anyway. He never put himself out for her, like she did for him.

In fact I even really like these small discussions because it helps to think and ponder situations that not being real, may well open our minds to things that happen in life. @eporter84 Now, I totally agree that bringing Tedious was not his brighest move I always said that. But if If he did it unconsciously for himself, I think he did it consciously for Cris. As you see I can understand both sides.Though the "grew up" thing is a valid point against him and for me one of the most offensive things he said to Cris. Insinuate that she was childish bc she didn't feel then same way he did shows that he was the child. I think it's a very mature decision when well based.

@italoluder If I were her, I would choose my career over him too. She worked toward that her whole life. Her staying with him after he nearly choked her to death does count, especially when people keep saying how selfish she is and that she has not made any concessions. Its funny how I can give a long list of concessions she's made for him and the people who calling her selfish can never give me any concessions Owen has made for her, other than the one he just threw back in her face.

No, it wasn't right for her to disrespect him, but I don't feel too much sympathy for him because, like she said, he created that situation. He made her operate on Henry, when she was too close to the situation to begin with, and lied to her about it, then forced her to lie to Teddy for hours. They have all disobeyed Richard's orders before, including Owen.

@eporter84 when she offered him to teddy in season six, he forgave her. When she gave him back the wedding ring the very next day he fought for her, when she quit her job because she was traumatized, he did not push her and let her do as she wanted. so dont tell me he never gave in. Owen might have had feelings for Teddy but he NEVER touched her. While Cristina kissed Jackson. And was grateful Owen married her, because: I dont wanna be alone!!!! I cant sleep when you're not there! EYEROLL!!!

@italoluder It isn't a concession when someone leaves you and you want them back, he didn't lose anything. IMO, She should have left him both times.She's the one who lost out on cardio surgeries while staying with him because of Teddy's jealousy, that's a concession. Jackson kissed Cristina, she pushed him away. He never gave up anything because he never knew about it. He had feelings for Teddy and lied to her about it. Also, he didn't help her by marrying her in that state.

@italoluder Clearly, having feelings is worse than drunken kiss. But then again, why are people competing over who's been the faulty one? They both are flawed, and sure, they have some issues. Still, I can't figure out why would people condom Owen's words to Cristina. I don't feel this is about Cristina making a concession, I think it's about Owen respecting the women that she loves and that he chose. He has a right to be angry, but this is like he accepted, but never respected her decision.

@italoluder My take is that she never wanted to bring it up, because she thought that if she did, it would make it worse. I agree she's a bit selfish, but I think he's being much more selfish. And don't get me wrong. I get Owen. I get his overwhelming desire to be a father, and I get he's heartrbroken. I really feel for him, in a way. BUT, he's willing to put their children to misery, and keep her wife in a spiraling self-loathing circle, as long as he can fulfill his need and be happy himself.

And I also feel that Owen has been subconsciously trying to punish Cristina for random things since the abortion. He could have managed the Teddy situation different, but he made it that way for a reason, that even he doesn't understand.

@robbinwb701 I AGREE totally. It doesn't matter if he knew her position before they were married. She DID get pregnant accidentally and she knew how he felt about it. Yet she is still unable or unwilling to acknowledge the affect on her husband -- and inadvertently has been pouring salt into an open womb for weeks. Owen let her know in the only way she could hear it. I am not interesting in keeping score of past rights and wrongs. In this case Cristina's behavior is selfish and insensitive.

Because its all about kids and the fact Owen wont have any with Cristina. I was no Cristina fans in the past months. But it touched me to see the guilt in her face. And that she spoke it out. Afterall a woman who does this to her hubby doesn't feel much for him. After her, have aborted her husband's baby right there infront of his nose, I'm very suspicious of all her intentions. I'm a Cristina and Owen fan! I understand where both characters are coming from. I'm glad that Owen let Cristina have it because he's hurting.. And I feel his frustration in which their marriage is so one sided. Cristina doesn't really understand that a marriage is a partnership.. It's good that Shonda is addressing the fallout between Cristina and Own in terms of the abortion. Derek's expression and sympathy when everyone heard what Owen said to Cristina was painful to watch.
