fiico! senti ma quella DI per poter usare il simulatore di cassa devi alimentarla o è solo passiva?

@Poldo77miticu no va alimentata, ha il vano batteria ma io gli ho fatto un adattatore dall'attacco della pila a 9v alla comune presa per effetti di tipo Boss, così da poterla alimentare come il resto della pedaliera

@rafport uhm..interessante...sto valutando anche io di prendere un DI...avevo visto la demo del palmer PDI09 che pare essere fantastico e pare non aver bisogno di pila...Questo ultra G pare cmq fare il suo lavoro anche se costa molto meno..

@Poldo77miticu C'è una cosa importante che il Palmer non fa, ed è quello di fare da DI box e basta senza simulare la cassa. Se vuoi usare ad esempio altre simulazioni di cassa (metti plugin, vst, quello che ti pare) ma anche se vuoi solo fare un raddrizzamento del segnale prima di entrare nella scheda audio (e se non hai schede davvero di livello elevato, serve e serve pure molto!). Il Palmer è passivo perché di fatto interviene cancellando le frequenze, tipo un tono. Questo lavora diversamente

@Poldo77miticu non sto ovviamente dicendo che non vale nulla eh! Dico che è una cosa diversa. E comunque questa DI-Box ha una ottima reputazione, a prescindere dal costo l'ho vista usare spesso nei service di vari concerti. Io credo che le emulazioni di cassa hardware, con circuito, son destinate a sparire visto i livelli stellari che hanno raggiunto altre soluzioni modeling o a impulsi, quindi trovo più utile il ruolo di vera DI-Box piuttosto che della simulazione di cassa.

@rafport Capisco...io la userei olrte che per registrare in saletta anche come alternativa al microfono in modo da andare in diretta sull'impianto... nn ho idea di quale sia la migliore per questi scopi...Poi boh alla fine per regisrtare a casa uso guitar rig che secondo me è un ottimo prodotto

@Poldo77miticu visto il costo davvero abbordabile (specie online, a cagliari l'ho pagato almeno una decina di euro in più) io ti direi di provate questa DI-Box della Behringer. Secondo me vale più di quel che costa, e hai modo di vedere se effettivamente il suono che ne viene fuori ti aggrada (scordati il livello di complessità della risposta dei coni di Guitar Rig, ma pure col Palmer...). Magari te la provi anche su Guitar Rig prima della scheda audio e noti che suoi singoli recuperi armoniche

@Poldo77miticu per un esperimento ci stanno, secondo me una DI Box serve, è di quelle cose che magari ne fai a meno ma tendi a sottovalutare. specie con i singoli prima di alcune schede m-audio che ho (ma anche di ampli modeling tipo il cube) fa davvero un suono nettamente migliore. con la focusrite no, ma manco lo peggiora. e poi ci attacco gli ampli a manetta per profilarli sul mixer. se li vale :)

@rafport @rafport io non ho mai avuto DI, per anni ho avuto la GT8 ma attaccata al mixer non era molto convincente, l'ho venduta e ho preso il GR con la pedaliera /scheda audio dedicata e il suo lavoro lo fa egregiamente, l'unica cosa e che dopo averla usata in alcuni live causa vibrazioni ho perso l'HD del pc:-(

@Poldo77miticu ahia, si gli hard disk partono in posti dove ci sono vibrazioni... la di-box è comodissima, perché esclude tutto il discorso acustico e ti da già un suono di valore e impedenza adatto al mixer. d'altro canto rispetto alla simulazione software avanzata, un emulatore di cassa a circuito non ha certo lo stesso livello di articolazione (anche se alla fine ti basta che si senta decentemente, cosa che spesso non è!) e non hai tutte le rogne tipiche del microfonaggio.

I dunno if anyone said it or not but why not double track in your recording software and use both the mic and the DI?

@feet2oofast thank you, yes mic and di can be mixed (di box can be use like another mic in fact), my purpose was to listen and compare two solution. beware to put in same route, because if for example you use a digital effect on just one in the chain the two waves will be not in correct phase (can be even nice, but just if you seek that effect)

@rafport haha sorry for the mistake. I thought you were trying to find the best sound and simply didn't know if you had considered recording that way :) I have been for quite some time and enjoy the clarity of the DI and the warmth (and versatility) from the mic. Great sound friend.

@ksqjdfghklqz micing is very nice, has maximum personalisation and vitality (a bit move in a mic or a change of mic can do all difference it can be imagined) and better performance if you use good stuff. anyway need space, volume and some skills, it is easy get an awful tone (maybe easier damage a good tone than get). a di box can be a nice solution for use your real amp (maybe with a loadbox) and results can be nice, it depends. sometime is better an easier way, and this is easier than mic :)

@efunkelist thank you for suggestion, it was one of my future try. i'm obtaining very interesting results with real stomps into amplitube with a good audio interface. i discovered on my recent experiment who the pod xt damage the guitar singal a lot, the difference in performance bethween pod and an example my black box m-audio is much bigger than i supposed, and tone richness is lost for a big part. i'll try the send of my amp in front of my audio card (or maybe with di box without spk emul)

I like the di clean and hate it dirty. Try off center and 15cm away from gill with mic. Right between the cone and center with a little more cone is normally a good place to start. Stereo micing will always sound better overall. So if you have a Ribbion mic try the same thing on the other side but angle with the speaker and have it be more center. Enjoy finding the method for audio capturing its a lot of work to get the sound you want! -PK

@pastorkev777 thank you for suggestion, for this try i put mic just in the middle to have a start point for some comparation. i'll spend time for sure over it but i'm evalutating other choice (i'm trying modern modeling programs too, i'm an early pod xt users and i dont notice how many step ahead the modeling did, and line6 even with x3 seem quite a follower just now). anyway i'm thinking about buying a decent condenser mic too
