i suggest everyone cross the couloir as fast as you can so less chance that you will be hit by rock or avalanche. last time we just ran over with minimal safety and it was better that moving slowly.

When I cam back across the couloir i didnt wear crampons and just held the wire. Saw some other guys who had climbed Mt Blanc in 1930s style gear doing the same thing.

Went across this in August 2007 - great fun. Not as much snow or as steep looking but plenty of rockfall all the same. Gouter ridge is a fun scramble. The snow plod above the Gouter is just boring, but this was fun

Climbed Mont blanc in 1999. Not a climber, just a hill walker, I set out alone but joined a group of 3 german climbers. One of them was hit by a falling stone in the GC and had to be helicoptered off. I went back into the couloir to help the bloke out. By way of thank, the germans let me join their rope, which was as well. Would never have had the strength to make it alone. Looks steeper than I remember, and we didn't clip onto the cable. Great vid.
