such a great performance of a really incredible piece. i have always been astounded how caryl churchill can give us in 20 minutes the emotional impact that other playwrights cannot achieve in 2 hours.

The city of Liverpool decided last week to cut funding for a cultural festival featuring the highly controversial play "Seven Jewish Children." The move came after the festival's producers rejected the inclusion of a response piece.
Since its February debut, Jewish leaders have condemned "Seven Jewish Children" as anti-Semitic.
The people who think this play is anti-Semitic are kidding themselves! This a brilliant play and they're just saying that to silence criticism of Israel. Cowards!

I think this play amplifies an almost unconscious mindset that pervades middle eastern politics and culture, whether Jewish or Palestinian; that mindset is based on fear, and not solely on hatred (which is a biproduct of fear)...both sides of the conflict have suffered horribly... and to say that this is anti-semetic is mostly wrong, it is, if anything mostly anti-Israeli...the hubris and hatred it reveals as an Israeli trait is discomfiting to be sure, but it is true, just as it is true in Gaza
