Hey, it had been 25 years since the area that was hit by a hurricane Ike had been soaked and it was said to be a catagory 2-3 which is kinda low...by hurricane standards. I think that most people were surprised by it and at work you are expected to stay to the last minutes etc...after a certain number of times of getting false alarms, and hurricanes going the other way, one grows complacent. Lots of people from Texas are from someplace else and do not know what a hurricane can do. Stupid? No.
Some people don't trust the police and other authority figures to protect their best interests and their homes, etc., so they'd rather stay to prevent looters, etc. It's not the best of choices, but I can understand it.
ok. i can respect that but if they don't want the police's help in gaurding their homes they shouldn't be calling 911 to be rescued now. I'm sure some aren't asking for help that don't trust the authorities but those that are all of sudden have a change of heart? Again, after what happened in New Orleans a couple of years ago i understand what your saying. I just hope those that are asking for help weren't the ones that stayed cause they didn't trust the authorities but instead are just stupid.
