He was using the side of the hill to push against to dig ruts for his tires. This way when he reversed the ruts he dug would give the tires ruts to help hold it on place. Other wise it could have rolled over back wards. If you watch the video again you will see the ruts let it balance plus they cut the edge down a bit. He knew what he was doing seen this driving before. Cheers

Four corner tank tracks, combined with high ground clearance, would have achieved that maneuver but, then you would end up with a vehicle with far less speed on flat terrain or roads.
