I grew up with a sheltie and they're the best breed out there. Great companions, very smart, wonderful fur, very friendly, great with kids, and so freakin' cute! Please get a sheltie if you are thinking of getting a dog. You will NOT be disappointed.!!!!

My sheltie loved to exercise so I'm sure it will jog with you. They were meant to herd animals so I'm sure one could keep up with you! As for chasing a ball/toy, they love it. My dog didn't take a specific interest in tons of dog toys. All he needed was a ball and someone to throw it. he also loved chasing my family around. we would take turns running away form him and when he caught up to one of us, another would start running somewhere else until he caught up again.

Shelties are adorable AND brilliant. Only bad thing is that they shed like crazy. Otherwise, my family would get one. At least we're getting an cute and well-behaved Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Golden Retriever mix! I can't wait!

Your dog is adorable. I have a shelti-poodle mix and he is about 4 now. He is stubborn - we could never teach him any tricks. He's really smart though. I think he understands English sometimes. He is a barker, like when anyone comes to the door, but otherwise he's really loveable and very affectionate. If I'm upset and crying he'll come over, snuggle up to me and give me kisses. I love my dog.

All shelties are not expensive. They sell for about as much as any other dog breed would. And they don't shed alot if you brush them out daily for a good 15 minutes. And not all of shelties bark all the time. It says that in all of the breed books "that they bark alot" but not all bark alot.

I think some breeders with thorobreds (I spelled that wrong I'm sure) can get a little much with their prices but the ones with good reputations know the price point and are usually competitive. We've used the same breeder now twice and very happy. We're on our 4th one and each one has brought so much happiness and love. I'm bias to the breed and always endorse people to think of the miniature sheltie or sheltie first.Brush them and their fine! Train them and the bark is lessened! ha.

my sheltie was only $50 but i live in a small town so that probably makes a difference. mine doesnt shed all that much besides in the summer but you can brush them out REALLY good to prevent most of that. and in an apartment, there shouldnt be a problem with barking. hope that helps =)
