@USMCSgtderf Nope. We are nothing to the nurses. Like I tell everyone...the nurses get all the glory, we get all the bedpans. I was going to become a nurse. I worshiped the ground they walked on. Til after I found out how they feel about cnas. I know all RNs are not like that, but alot of the ones in the hospital that I work at do.
@ AFORNIX: This video is well done!.... and yes, on my unit we do wash our hands and/or use antibacterial wash EVERYTIME we go into and leave a patient's room. Sorry to see you are so jaded....be part of the solution vs part of the problem! Encourage the students, don't throw cold water on their enthusiasm! You go nursing students!!!! Did any you guys bring an emesis basin? I'm about to hurl after watching your "video." Oh, and by the way, nurses RARELY wash their hands when they enter a patients room. It's cute that you learned that it in school, but it doesn't happen out there in real life. Wait till you guys get out there--you will HATE being a nurse with all the miserable patients, co-workers, and doctors you have to deal with...
As a nursing student who has a Littman and wasn't a CNA before school I will tell you I look at it as an investment. I will hear more with my good (albeit pricy) stethoscope than I will with the 10 dollar pos that was in my Nursing Pack.
@USMCSgtderf cool video guys! i like it its funny im hoping to go into nursing school but idk its tough my mom is a nurse but she did great at nursing school and i had surgery recently recovered really well but hopefully this will be my last surgery for a while by the ways i loved the blood pressure cuff design at 2:07 it was cool
Can someone explain to me why first year students are buying Littman stethascopes?! I'd think that would be something worth investing in when you actually pass the state exam? Or did you get them really cheap?

Just a small investment compared to all the other expenses of nursing school. Can you imagine trying to learn to ausculate heart and lung sounds with a crappy steth? My instructor will point out something to us on a patient and I end up loaning my Littman to fellow students so they can hear what he is talking about because their cheap ones don't pick it up.
Very well done. @orion- We still do vitals and everything else at our hospitals unfortunately. We don't have any cnas. =(.
