Nice guide... but just for your information, Lagarith Codec will work under 64-bit software. You'll just need to use the manual installation. ;)

I'd recommend you use 1280x720 so it fits perfectly in the youtube 720p player.

If you use 640x360, the aspect ratio still fits ok but youtube will upscale it to 855x480 and use the 480p player.

Any 16:9 ratio will work well. But 720p seems like overkill for simply recording your desktop.
