  • He mentions the word cool a lot.You can't make something cool for the sake of it being cool,I mean don't get me wrong I like Zack Snyder and Watchmen (it stands good as just a movie), but he should really concentrate more on the story more than trying to add cool elements. You can't really make something to Be Cool it's gotta come from itself otherwise it's just gonna feel forced (like Boondock saints (that sucked)).

  • anyone who doesn't realize zack snyder is a genius director is a fucking retard. THE FUCKING MARS SCENE

  • I hope that superman has some kind of "real" content in it. If superman: man of steel is going to be that good it has to have some profound content, otherwise he will only stop bullets and stuff like that which is boring in the long end. I think batman is easier to have a great story because he is very mysterious and he has a dark past.

300 was good but not so much for the story line and watchmen was really good but a little bit to hard to take in.

  • Thumbs up to Zack Snyder for not selling out or compromising the integrity of his film for some box office numbers. Fuck what the critics say and most of the people downing this film have never read the book and care about nothing but a shallow Spider-Man type stereotypical superhero flick.

  • Zack Snyder is directing Man of Steel (Superman reboot). two words.... FUCK YEAH!!

  • @MegaMaverick1994 Two words Fuck No!

Snyder has no depth to him and that seeps into all of his films. He doesn't know anything about character development, story progression or keeping suspense and dramatic tension. He would be good at directing advertising shorts but nothing more.

  • @ImaginedWriter i thought watchmen was a really good movie..i havent seen 300 and i have no interest in seeing it,dawn of the dead was ok...i saw sucker punch and it was fucking awful..but i walked into watchmen with no backround of the charaters (i didnt read the comic novel) and i actually gave a shit about the charaters in the movie and the whole 2 hours and 40 minutes of watching i was never bored...i enjoyed it much more then The Overrated Dark Knight thats for sure

  • @marsdemartini... You retarded? Have you seen 300, Watchmen and Suckerpunch.. He's one of the most smartest most original directors ever... Go back to watching Twilight kiddo.

  • Comment removed

  • zach snyder one of the most underated directors thumbs up if u agree

  • Did anyone else watch this to compare it to Mark Kermode's impersonation?

  • @username666ization exactly my friend!

  • @username666ization sure! I'm watching it only because it was on the page with kermode's review of watchmen. he's not that far off actually ;).

  • Zack Snyder, Pure Genius

  • If zack had directed X-men origins wolverine , the movie would be much much better

  • Moving on about the "BEST MOVIE EVER vs WORST MOVIE EVER" debate...Holy shit, Snyder is hot! That guy could be one of the 300, look at that fine piece of ass! Man, when you main "director" mental image is Old-Guys-with-ugly-beards-screaming, this beefcake is a nice change of view!

  • It's the guy from beauty and the geek!

  • This movie makes marvel looks like pussys! Fuck you Spider-man!

  • I hate how people hated this movie because they expected it to be some ordinary comic/graphic novel film like X-Men, Spiderman, The Dark Knight, Hulk, Sin City, 300, etc. This movie is so much deeper graphic novel, and Zach Snyder made this movie so well. Not to mention, loved the changes Zach made to the film. Very underrated. This film is my #2 favorite comic adaption behind The Dark Knight.

  • @Josh0473

They all have their credits...be a fan of comics and admit it...asshole.

  • @SidNightWalker I am a fan of comics........why are u callin me an asshole?? I don't know what i said in my comment that seemed hostile to u.

  • @Josh0473

    Whups,I retract my comment.

  • i think the fact that he took watchmen and MADE it into an actual movie is amazing, even if the movie was meh

  • Zach Snyder: "racist, me? Nooooooo! Just a little sionist who works in Hollywood... We find in the USA what Pharaoh, Rome, Babylon, Germany,... refused us; to be the masters!"

  • I love Zacks work Dawn of the dead STILL gets plenty of play time on my dvd player and is STILL fuckin awesome and 300 is probably one of the best looking movies ever.

  • one of my favorite movies and graphic novels, if you think he did a bad job your either an idiot or you never watched it.

  • I love this movie, but something just occurred to me, Isn't it funny how they used Cgi to get the 80's look. HAHA

  • damn i love this guy

  • This guy hasn't made a film that's any good EVER. All of this crap is cliched shite. Same old shite all the time from these hollywood people.

  • @MrDarcyzPP its easy to hate, why not go out and do a better job?

  • @mrshef666 ok, give me $100million, and I'll get back to you :P

  • After I first saw this movie I had to rewatch it instantly.

And I haven't even read the books.

    ...It's that good.

  • zack is a fucking genious

  • I think this is a brilliant film, and I admire Zack Snyder for sticking to his guns and making an adult R rated movie, a period piece, and being true to the graphic novel in its most important aspects. One of the young directors who I look forward to seeing more of their work in the future.

  • Zack gave the best movie in terms of accuracy one possibly could with Watchemen. Minus the alien squid. I thought the movie was only OK, but I have to give the guy props for putting out a movie where the best I could do was nitpick about substantive problems with it, even if I thought all the slo-mo was silly.

  • i was so pissed that msn recently put this movie on its top ten 2009 bombs

  • It was.

  • this is a brilliant film, finally a comic book movie with substance

  • His my favorite directer I hope forrest fire101 will be as good as him!

  • watchmen was good, very realistic. But not as good as the dark knight or iron man! But I'm still a watchmen fan!

  • Are you kidding! Watchmen (book) was like a movie script!

  • i didnt enjoy the movie but i can see why casual movie goers like it. it was good at face value i guess but not much else.

one thing that annoyed me was how they made Ozymandias to be such a cardboard cut out villain and made Rorschach admirable. it was a real dumb down of the characters, bit of a shame really.

  • wactmen imo owns is waaaaayy better than any other superhero/comic book film out there, with the exeption of Batman begins, The dark knight, and Iron Man, but all others from x-men, spiderman and even hulk dont even come close, they may also be good, but not on the level of watchmen. =]

  • Nah. The Spiderman Movies were great. Something completely different to this though. There is no comparison.

  • so, this is the mind behind '300' and 'Watchmen'... so talented... so good looking!

  • ... wouldn't call it a mind.

  • So vapid...

  • I wouldn't say "vapid" is the word. It's not that he lacks energy.

Perhaps uncharismatic? Unsure? I mean, take for example 6:22, where he's like "moviegoers have a lot of superhero knowledge now that...um" *long pause*

It reminds me a little of the manerism of Obama, where Zack takes a lot of time in the middle of sentences. However, Obama seems to have something important to say after that, and Zack says "...is ripe for Watchmen to sort of... you know, deconstruct." :-/

  • I tend to use vapid more to mean mindless, boring. Dull, tedious.

He's a bimbo, I guess you could say.

  • @Jcolinsol Is that how YOU use it? Well, try using it with it's true meaning, then you'll be understood and won't have to explain all of YOUR definitions, and you'll be understood more widely without pauses for comprehension and questions.

  • @MrDarcyzPP

    Heh heh

  • @kvn8907 Wow, what a silly twat you are.

  • @MrDarcyzPP Hey, I'm not the one posting mean responses to five months old comments on YouTube.

  • Zack told us at the live screening he's cameod' as the heli operator on the MG which i never knew, it's a cut scene from the theatrical :P

  • You guys are so fucking close minded. Zack sticked to the book so fucking close you cant expect panel for panel shot from the comic book because of couse. "its unfilmable" but this is fucking great.

  • Can someone please explain to me why the Dr. Manhattan cover-up doesn't work? Yeah, the squid was awesome, I agree. I would have loved to see the squid kicking ass in the movie. But framing Dr. Manhattan was a great alternative to get the same result... Ozymandias getting away with it. Point is, they were both great endings, which is better is a matter of personal taste... but seriously... it's nothing to get too upset about.

  • he is my favorite director, thanks of "Dawn of The Dead (Remake)"

  • same right here

  • Framing Dr Manhatten made zero sense. It just didn't hang together...

  • is funny

  • the worst movie? are you fucking kidding me? if you think he did a bad job of that book which has been attempted 3 different times to be made into a movie, then you obviously don't get the overall message and point of the book in the first place

if it was done by any one else it would have been fucking terrible

  • At least Gilliam's version would have been pretty.

  • @symbiote001 I would have no idea whether he did a bad job "of" a book...I simply think that this film is like any other. People seem to look different, but they're not, people seem to do different things but they don't. Nothing new here, just effects. The implications of human nature are all the same. That's just juvenile...and this guy's a pig like any other hollywood craphole producer, writer, director, etc.

  • @symbiote001 agreed this guys an idiot

  • ive read the book as soon as i watched the movie. and im with zach. the man knows what he's doing. i think we can offer opinions but we have to admit he pulled off incredible work as a fan and director. i loved the movie!!!

  • I'm his brother rely Im Jack Snyder

  • i hugged his kid!!!

  • Dude his kid was on my basketball team

  • snyder is not even close to an inspiration. he's yet to make an original film. he remade dawn of the dead and apapted 300 and Watchmen. let's wait and see what he does after before we call go calling him an inspiration.

  • go to his IMDb page, he has a couple of movies he is set to direct, which he writes the screenplay and original story's

  • Why he's way way better than Michael Bay, his movies aren't original but he's still one of the best filmmakers of this era.

  • He's only made three movies: one which was pretty good, another which was very good, and then another which . . . well the less said about that one the better.

  • both of them are bad. explain why they are the best. please do that.

  • I never said Michael Bay was good, I strongly despise him. Snyder hasn't made any original films yet but he knows how to adapt a graphic novel without ruining it, that's my opinion. He'll never be as great as the more classic kind of filmmaker but compared to the well-known filmmakers of today, I personally think he is one of the best next to Christopher Nolan.

  • i completely agree

  • If so,I'd prefer to go to your funeral first....Get it?......... Audrey D.

  • zack snyder is an inspiration

    you try directing movies

  • I completely agree... the people that make vulgar comments have no clue what it actually takes to pull it off. I like all his movies. Even if their not his ideas. ARE YOURS ANY BETTER STUPID TARDS!

  • Buy his movies, dont download... he deserves the money.., he is a great movie maker.. watchmen and 300 are the 2 greatest movies ive seen.

  • That man has a real future in film. I think he will soon turn the film world on its head. He is very talented.

  • New superhero movie phenomenon??? Superhero movies have been popular since the 40s...the recent wave is just a renewed interest by the culture, and MORE investement by hollywood, not NEW

  • He looks just like Christopher Lambert from the first Highlander Movie back in the 80's

  • and yet he was the one who wanted to mess it up... honestly, this was an awesome movie for a book that could not be made...

  • Am I the only one reading fatigue out of Zack? I think it's been a gruelling process, getting the movie out.

And what did he miss? Well, IMO to stay true to the original material, all through.

If there was something to learn, from the original watchmen comics, it's that You shouldn't trust what they are telling You.

  • awesome movie! watch the full movie on vioku. com

  • No, go out and see it in theatres. If people watch it online, box office goes down. If box office goes down, no studio will want to make a movie like this again.

  • i know! especially THIS movie. imax even better. 3 trailers for it were sick too.

  • probably one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. The Watchmen is a deep and complex graphic novel, and I felt that he did the best anyone could do. Obviously it's not going to be as good as the GN, but it is a very good representation of it.

  • Only the feeble minded wont be able to understand this movie. I have agree, I loved it.

  • the movie wasn't bad, but it was a bit confusing for me

you can watch it on vioku. com

  • One of WORST and CRAP MOVIE of the decade...

Mutton dress as lamb, shiny hollywood money making machine try to juice some money from the graphic novel cult statue... SHAME. The fan must know just because the movie title is 'Watchmen' and it's try to adapt the graphic novel very closely, it doesn't make this movie any good. What work on the comic doesn't always necessary work on the film. Biggest problem is how the movie unfold and deliver by Zack S. has become such a boring joke.

  • Time to get some sun nerds.

  • P.S. Fallenprey?....WTF? Rorschach had to go, unfortunate as it is I know but Rorshcach doesn't see the grey areas, just the straight cut black and white (hence the mask)......he had to tell the truth, it is his moral standard even if it did bring about armageddon, ....which incidentally could've still happened had his journal been published. He knew when he walked away that they were his final moments but to stay and agree to keep quiet didn't agree with his moral standards. VERY noble death.

  • aahhh.....Fanboys are such dickheads. Yes I've read the novel and agree that it is probably one of the best ever written and consider myself a huge fan. The movie fucking rocked as novel/movie adaptions go. Yes changes were made but honestly.....the squid thing was fucking stupid, glad he turfed it. Other changes apart from that were minimal and were basically scenes that would've dragged the movie into boring territory...EG: Going to Rorschach's place to get his second uniform.

    Grow up retards

  • The fans must know just because the movie title is 'Watchmen' and it's try to adapt the graphic novel very closely, it doesn't make this movie any good. What work on the comic doesn't always necessary work on the film. Example the slow motion sequence on some fighting scene especially the big fight at the end, only enhance some actor inability to fight. And why change the graphic novel ending???? After all of that....

  • How was it fucking stupid? Made better sense then manhattan attacking them and then LEAVING If he leaves the universe how the fuck is that gonna stop them from fighting again? This movies shitty ending that was pulled out of this directors ass is fucking stupid

  • All I know is that they killed the best character in the movie! That has to be the most stupid thing ever done in any film. Every "hero" sucks in this film.

  • This idiot made Dr. Manhattan into a champion body builder. He took an ending that worked for the comic and for science fiction and just about worked for every reason except that someone wanted to get "creative" with Alan Moore's book.

How do these guys get paid to make this junk?

  • this movie sucks donkey balls!

  • TO add, and address Watchmen69, Dr. manhattons voice sucks, and the ending won't have the monster, it's just a bomb. The pivotal part in the movie, in the meeting where Adrian Veidt decides to plan chaos in New York (not Moscow or everywhere else), trimmed down to 2 minutes. No Rorschach burning the man and chopping up the dogs. Means Almighty Alan moore was right, you can't make The Watchmen into a film.

  • this guy asks weird questions

  • Who cares man whoopty, fuckin doo if it was not a monster. Who cares. Alan Moore was wrong, the book is filmable

  • @jan9339

next time listen more carefully. he said the original script was about -modern times war on terror or i dont know what- and that he tried to bring the original book/ideas back in the movie

  • ahahah he cant even explain what the comic is about ?, 'modern times war on terror i dont know what' ? , you could just say looking at the super hero in a diffrent perspective giving them a human quality creating a different mind set.

  • Some people just don't interview well. He's quite apparently one of those people. It says nothing about him being at the head of the film.

  • Absoulutely correct.

  • Hancock was terrible.

  • 05:12 dumbest question ever

  • by the way, if you smoke a bowl and watch the trailer, you will feel shivers down your spine because it looks that good!!! :D~~~~

  • 15ths the charm

  • apparently it is highly recommended to read the comic book before watching this movie. it makes the movie have high expectations an apparently, the director makes sense if you have read the comic book because it's THAT engrossing!!!

i've not read the comic myself but my boyfriend is a fanboy. lol

  • this dude doesnt seem very into the interview

  • Interviewer seems like a complete spaz.

  • To the person who said "What does superior mean?" I hope your joking, if not, ARE YOU SERIOUS?

  • no, Ive read the script, it OWNS! it's awesome. It's exactly like the comic

  • can you bootleg me the script? pleeeeease!?

  • Im thinking the movie it self will lack as far as story goes because it's been cut down from like 3 hours so, the directors cut should make up for that.

  • zack has a lot of enthusiasm. kind of like tarantino

  • A 3-hr commercial for the comic. What a great way to put it.

  • for some reason it really ticks me off when someone says "the watchmen". it's "watchmen". just "watchmen".

  • get over yourself...I'll call it "the watchmen" all day...and I've read the book...

  • BOOOOOOO.

    :)

  • 4 hour Mvie NAOOO I WANT IT

  • zack basically said watchmen is completely superior to hancock

  • lmao it is completely superior to hancock

  • wat does superior mean

  • it meens so much better,

o ya get your own name btw zac efferon is takin

  • kittens die every time you talk, keep that in mind.

  • when you think about it hancock and watchmen are similar in certain respects, such as placing a superhero in a real world and examining its rammifications. The only difference is that Watchmen is awesome.

  • Oh god, now I can see why one of the posters below me hate the reporter. Comparing Hancock to Watchmen is just plain stupid.

  • this reporter is pretty stupid. can't say why but you'll see as he leaves Zack with difficult questions which seems pointless to answer.

  • id rather watch the movie at 3 hours.

  • Zack Snyder looks like he aint to happy with watchmen, was i the only one who noticed?

  • What exactly did you notice? Maybe its just stress.

  • yeah youre right it may be stress, but he looks a little unmotivated about this film

  • i know they need to shorten it up to make it more enjoyable for the average movie audience, but i hope the full 3 hours is available when it comes out on dvd, and i don't mean deleted scenes sans special effects in the bonus features. i want a fully complete director's cut. that would be the best thing ever.

  • Absolutely. For the fans. They (I know I would) would love it.

  • why didn't this motherfucker direct The Spirit. Frank Miller don't know what he's doing.

  • indeed

  • LOL! That movie was hilarious! Of course I'm not a huge Spirit fan, so I have no idea if it was supposed to be funny or anything... But I found it enjoyable.

  • I enjoyed Dawn of the Dead and 300. Zack Snyder seems to be very good at what he is doing and makes alot of smart choices.

You are all going to hate me for saying this but i enjoyed the remake of Dawn of the Dead more than the original, far more realistic.

I couldnt stand Gearge A Romeroes diary of the dead, it turned out to be just another horror movie.

  • I've looked at a few videos with Zack Snyder talking about this movie, personally I think he's stupid. Plus his voice sounds stupid and he looks stupid. He's just not the powerful figure of a 'real' director. He says 'urmm' alot and really loses himself in his speech. But still I can't wait to see this movie, really excited.

  • I actually think the opposite. The fact is that most of these sort of interviews are rehearsed and heavily cut. This one seems to be more improvised, which means he's had less time to edit the truth. I think it's a better interview because of that. The concepts of this comic are hard to explain, so the 'urmm's should be expected!

  • Why don't people just look at this as a movie? this won't be exactly like the book, oh well, just look at it as a movie!

  • Because they claim ownership of every bit of their childhood. For some reason they belive that only they can deciede the TRUE interpretation of a piece of pop culture they were exposed to in their youth. What is ironic about Watchmen is of course that it was originally pitched as reinventing characters from old Charlton comics!

  • let's say for instance that 300 and dawn of the dead were terrible movies (i actually would say that both of those are near the top of my fav list), you cannot argue tho that those movies were poorly directed

to say that they sucked based on content is to attack the source material 300 shot for shot was almost identical to the novel, same with dawn of the dead to the original

with watchmen perhaps a little variance in the translation to film is what is necessary to preserve the story and tone

  • Admittedly, I'd prefer the squid ending. I loved the ending of the graphic novel, and would love to see that big, bad ass alien on the big screen. But a lot of branching plot threads in the book dealt with the foreshadowing of the squid, which, in the movie, if they want time for all the character exploration and shit, it seems like it needed to be trimmed to fit in a two and a half hour movie. And the ultimate result of the new ending remains the same from what I've heard.

  • You know... I'm having trouble understanding this rabid protest of the movie. It's not like when the movie comes out that book is going to disappear. It'll always be there for us all to enjoy. But yes, I'm excited about the film. It looks pretty cool to me, and almost spot-on with the comic from a visual standpoint. And the squid ending was never in any of the scripts. Nor David Hayter's, which Moore himself said was "as close as [he] could see anyone getting".

  • you must be damn stupid of you think ill sit through watching these trailers till march and wont grab my money to see this. youve gotta understand kiddo people not just fans but general public loves superheroes now. and especially since superhero movies are now amazing.... there is no way people wont wanna see this....the trailers are amazing as well. and as spiderman 4 shows a couple of good trailers will sell your movie hard no matter how much it actually sux

  • I am so sick and tired of hearing people complain about how bad they think Zack Snyder is doing. People complain about the sense of realism the artistic style of the movie. What exactly about it looks horrible. I know they changed the ending, thats no to say that it will suck though. If you remember, the original script by David Hayter wasn't even't set in the time frame that the book was. Zack didn't like that, and so the script was rewritten. What wrond with you damn people!!!!!

  • alan moore and dave gibbons have been heard saying that they thought the ending to the book was a little weak, so if that's the only part the movie he is changing, i'm not going to complain.

  • i dont think they should change it, it was a revolutionary ending showing that the "good" guys (ie: rorshach (did i spell that right))

    do not always win

i mean the good guys won, but the main character (in my opinion) died, it was unheard of at the time

  • I don't think the ending in the book was that weak. It was fine and unique in its own way. I'm not sure if a nuclear blast would be much better.

  • oh, i know, personally i loved how the book ended. and there not changing the fact that the bad guy gets away with it, they're only changing the catastrophic event.

  • FUCK Zack Snyder.

You can't change the ending of a comic made over 21 years ago.

  • When did he say he changed the ending?

  • A few days ago. But I dissagree. Unless you bought the rights to make this movie yourself you DO NOT OWN IT! Its like insisting that all the houses in your neigborhood have to stay the same color as they were in your youth. You do not own pop culture. Hell even Moore didn't think it was worth much when he made his money selling the movie option rights for works he owned.

  • well, the desicion was made b4 he had his say, i read somewhere.
