  • there is no evidence that these tests can improve instruction and student performance, or even accurately assess reading fluency. These tests are unvalidated and potentially damaging. I'm seeing students who have made great gains in words per minute read and have no understanding of what they are reading. We are teaching students that reading is a race.

  • The child should be timed and also saying capital 'T' or lower case 't'. It is not a true representation of the DIBELS.
