When C. S. Lewis wrote this book, I suspect he was a good moral man, but not quite yet a true Christian...where Jesus Christ is much more than a moral code. Perhaps this stepping-stone pattern of giving our heart, mind, and soul over to God's control is similar for a lot of us. The amazing mystery is that God chooses us first, and draws us to Him while we are yet rebellious. Like C. S. Lewis, we too can grow in grace as we submit to God's authority....and are surprised by this joyous love.

ROFL. If you think C. S. Lewis was a genuine Christian then you would have to be the most blind person on the planet.
He was well known to be a part of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and hence a Luciferean Gnostic.
He was very rightly latently beinging stupid Christians into the light of Lucifer, for Lucifer is the ONE TRUE GOD.
