Nope. Not equally dangerous. It's a lot easier for a fucked up person to just stop with their car & pick up a hitchhiker (he has control over the car, can lock the doors,...), than to go hitchhiking & hoping someone -who's alone in a car- will pick him up.

And there always fucked up people in the world, if you think like that you better lock yourself in. Most people (almost all) are just friendly, goodhearted people. If everyone would think like you, it would be an asocial, grey world.
