  • Just fthrow to SH dair? And it works?! Where has this been all my life? :o Is the timing/spacing different for other characters?

  • the difficulty of brawl! balanced shit:3

  • dude. u should stagespike, or spike them again when they try to recover insted of edgehogging. first of all it looks much more sexy, and u don't have to edgehog them. (edgehog is tew gay)

Some nice footstools tho (Y) :)

    I like the vid.

  • does this work on the whole cast or just certin ppl

  • just the characters I've listed in this video

  • as soon as you took me off the ledge i'd air dodge and B+UP smash with wolf and then ledge guard you.. o.o

  • show me a video response proving that you can do this and I'll accept your comment. Otherwise STFU

  • i don't have a wii. i have a gamecube, spiking is a little bit more difficult in brawl i'll admit, but it's not as hard to dodge as it is to do.

  • then dont comment that you dumbs***

  • @thomasdfghj1

You're about 3 months late to be starting an arguement, you fuck.

  • @thex0913

im pretty sure this would be too unexpected. But after 1 time, i dont think it'll work again -_-'

  • @bloodizraw

You'd be recoiling from the throw, you couldn't air dodge. Even if you could, you can't cancel an air dodge with an attack. B+UP smash isn't a move, it's either B+UP or up smash. And Marth wouldn't be off the stage, so you couldn't ledge guard, also, the term is "edge guard". I hope you don't take this negatively, I'm just pointing out the flaws in your statement :p

  • That will only work to noobs beucase with real players u need to be faster beucase someone will not let u do that for free u will have to catch him up and thats not easy with me =D

  • naw pros with marth have done this..

theres even a video with some guy just recking ppl with it and showing which characters will take the effect

  • nice. If you can you should post that video link here. So people can stop being idiots and trying to disprove this without running any experiments

  • and do the foot-stool-smash. you'll live and give them no chance to live. never seen any of these tricks work against a flyer. proving, it isnt 100%. a little more time, and you'll learn better tricks.

  • yeah, I totally agree. I just recently learned about it and it seems to add to the effectiveness to this techinque. I agree with you. This does not work with flyers. This only works on the characters I showed here. It especially doesn't work against floaty characters like samus.

  • well, all in all, it is a good trick. just not 100%. yeah the the trick i typed earlier. i'm too lazy to copy and paste it lol

  • no offence, but i will pwn in a spiking match with marth. use his forwardthrow; pivot dash throw behind the enemy, short hop up, not moving to the enemy, and spike. it's harder, but harder to escape.

  • you should do this with a friend because in training mode there is no stale move decay

  • Ken Combo is mutch cooler (-^.^-)

And i think a normal player is intelligent enough to doge it....

    but nice technique

  • shut up noob. There is no ken combo in brawl. There is no traditional form of combo in brawl to begin with. Also you can't dodge this while you're at 0%. After 15% you can DI away from it.

  • has there ever been traditional forms of combos in smash besides the moves that hit multiple times? to me its just a matter of opinion of what a combo is... brawl def isnt for combos of any type really. melee is so much better

  • Also on pokemon stadium(melee) Marth can intercept while they're under the stage if your on the edge, the same with wolf and diddy.

  • except a good fox would shine and wait for your frames to be gone on the ledge :D, but then again with the dolphin cancel edge grab thing i guess thatd still be difficult D:

  • will this only work at under 10%?

  • yeah. More than that and they can DI past it.

  • wait a sec, what happened at 5:11?

I heard a spike sound but it looks like ganon cancelled the momentum.

  • no! fox!! :(

  • what controller do u use?

  • ...

  • I've been looking for the 0-deaths on fox/wolf/falco recently and finally found them! This is an amazing demonstration. I didn't know about the sheik footstool.

  • Mann i still remember the first time in good old melee i played as marth i meteor smash my freind

  • those were the good times...

  • yo this is elementry stuff..no offence..its good though

  • of course its elementary, but people still need to know how to do it properly. it was like when everybody tried to copy sethlon's falco and CG to dair but sometimes got the timing wrong. People made videos. To be honest, there isn't really anything technical in brawl. This is about as advance AND elementary as it gets

  • dacus with sheik is harder than anything i tried in melee.

  • Or, if you time it right, footstool jump him.

  • I think when Dedede recovers like that (before he does his Up+B) you should do another spike on him (just make sure you grab the ledge first and then press down and then quickly press up and then dair).

  • mmm. Sounds good maybe you should test it out and put it on the smashboard forums. Im too busy at college right now.

  • Lol, same here, I'm a college student as well, and I got about at least 20 pages worth of typed paper due overall in the next couple of weeks for the courses I'm taking (the pains of being an english major). Good news is the semester's almost over after those next couple of weeks.

  • Anyways, I would post it on smashboards, but it seems you covered the main aspects of the whole chain spiking business with Marth. Just saying, because if you have a character with multiple jumps like that whose trying to recover from that position, I think it'd be best to spike them again with Marth to give them an extra push downward so that not only would it give them less recovery options, but less of a chance to recover at all.

  • marth..is so much better than just spiking

  • I like how you jump to conclusions. Very astute of you. Guess I'm wrong for believing that a fight should go on until your opponent has no chance of recovery. Or maybe I just like a fight to not be decided by a pussy move like a ledge-grab. I mean, you didn't even spike your opponent. A ledge-hog that leads into a spike, now that I'll respect. But a pussy ledge-hog that results in a win is a disgraceful win at best. (continued in next reply)

  • Spiking out of a ledgehog was always just sort of showboating, the way I've seen it. Yeah I know, being edgehogged is a pretty lame way to get KO'ed, but matches where you can't KO your opponent until about 180% gets kind of boring after a while. There's no honor in a video game. If both players agree to "no ledgehogs", awesome. There's no shame, nor is there any honor in winning a video game. You win, then you win.

Besides, it's all in the name of fun. If you CAN do it, why NOT do it? o_o

  • I see your point but you only really need to get them to 80% to be killable. Anyway, there's no honor in games because developers put in things like c-stick smashing and making you invinicible for a second when you grab the ledge. If they'd left you vunerable, there'd be no contention here.

Shit, what time is it? 12:50a.m? I think I'm done for tonight. If you wanna brawl sometime send me your F code. Dunno mine off the top of my head or I'd post it here.

    Laters.

    Note: C-smashing blows >_>

  • hey its part of the game. if you dont like it then dont do it! but i plan on ledge hogging all day as well as spiking!!! if you dont do it youll never get very good

  • People still read this? Dude, this conversation's a month old. Drop it. I have.

  • i love you

  • Umm... Thanks?

    I love you too XD

  • Ledgehogging is such a pussy move.

  • Ledgehogging is the smart thing to do.

If you don't want to ledgehog your opponents because you think it's cheap or dishonorable, nobody is stopping you. Just don't whine when someone who knows how to play the game ledgehogs you and wins the match.

  • "Know how to play the game" like a pussy.

You left out that last part.

  • If you think the only way the game should be played is to bash your opponent senseless until they fly offscreen, go right ahead. You don't have to outsmash your opponent all the time. Utilizing these things to someone's advantage makes a good player, and good players are respected. The idea is to throw your opponent in the greatest disadvantage possible. You're probably just ticked because you get ledgehogged a lot.

Everyone just stop shielding and dodging. It's what pussies do. Amirite?

  • Don't suck and you wont have to worry about being killed by them

  • 1) Who the hell invited you to this already dead conversation?

And 2) Go fuck yourself :D

  • lol lol lol simple enough

  • From what i can tell you just front throw run after your opponent and do your Dair right?

  • yeah. Again though, they won' be able to DI the first two throws. After that this won't work

  • so you just dash throw and then spike him and stage grab? seems fairly straight forward.

  • SO wait, you can't spike on Brawl unless it's tipped? Was it like that on Melee?

  • Yes it was.

  • spiking seems to be more difficult now... =\ maybe they made the sweetspot smaller. cause i know in the back its bigger than front

  • that's what she said!!! I had to do it...

  • I play Marth a lot, but I rarely land a spike on my good opponents, like by bro.. :S He seems to airdodge or DI out of it like 95% of time. I think I should really practice to do this combo with a perfect timing, it'd be a killer! :)

  • you really don't need to practice this... It's just throw to dair fastfall then dolphin slash to stage spike and hope they don't tech

  • I know what it is..

  • You have to tip it. Marths attacks have a sweetspot. When you hit the enemy with this sweetspot with a down aerial attack they get spiked.

This sweetspot for the dair is bigger at the back...so try it facing the stage if it's too tough at first.

  • how long would it take to master that

  • not very long. They got rid of his coolest spike and that was hard! This one doesn't take very long though.

  • The spike can be airdodged I'm pretty sure

  • Nope, not if you're near perfect with the timing. I've checked in training mode via the consecutive hits thing.

  • yeah it does work when they DI because while you F throw them you take advantage of that tiny hit stun (when they are flashing white). Plus after two throws you will see that they will be easily able to get out of the f throw when you try to grab them again by DI'ing or air dodging

  • does it work whe they're DIing o.O thats the problem xD
