@meliut000 A good rule is to replace them every 10-12 months. It depends on how many hours per day they are used. 10-12 months though is your average.
So I was curious because I have a 36 gallon tank and was wondering what would be more practicle for my water changes, a trash can or just one those five gallon buckets.
@meliut000 That really depends on how much water you want to change. Some people change 25%,50%,100%. I've always just gone with 5 gallons. On a tank your size 5 gallons is a good amount to change. If it were say a 90+ gallon then a brute trash can will come in handy as I'd change 10+ gallons. Hope this helps. It really comes down to what you find works for you and your system and how frequent you do water changes. I do 5 gallons every 2 weeks.
Nice and informative video, question I mix my water with salt and check it so I get the right gravity then I just dump it right in the tank. Is that bad cause you live it running for 24 to 48 hrs, how is the PH work ? thanks in advance and keep it up.
@NaTiVoWeB Some do it exactly the way you are doing it. If it works and you see no ill effects no need to change. Allowing your water to mix longer stabilizes the ph and also ensures there are no salt crystals that have not desolved. Allowing the pump to run longer brings more oxygen into the water which will give you a higher stable ph level. What type of salt are you using?
where is part 2? very good guide, im new to this and im learning through youtube videos before i buy a tank
