The loco is live steam fired by butane gas. The one in this video is controlled by 2 channel radio control - one servo opens and closes the steam regulator and the other controls direction. It is made by a firm in Doncaster, England called Roundhouse Engineering. Another company, Accucraft UK, make similar manual and radio controlled steam locos. Have a look at a website called track-shack. They sell the locos and they start from about £400. Best wishes, Keith
I think you need to have a snow-plough with a sharper 'cutting' angle, so the snow is pushed to the side rather than over the top, because as it is now the snow is simply mounting the plough and weighing it down, where as it should really be sliced and thrown to the side.
i scratch built the snow plough without any drawings but with an old photo i had on a plough sat at Immingham engine sheds.
I have to say that it looks very good since Keith has repainted it after an incident involving it being on fire on my cooker.Thats another story lol. I have to say this is a graet piece of video Keith.
nice operation your live steamer works very well, i ve notice that alot of live stemaer are kind of spotty wheni comes to moving the same speed for lond didtances
yeah brilliant for snow, looks loads more realistic in the snow then anything else, Watching garden railway snow videos, are really begging me to start a garden railway but theres never any snow really in Britain anymore is there?
Great camera work - really enjoyed watching this. I've just bought a lady Anne second hand so it's great to see how powerful the little critters really are! Must have been a satisfying operating session.
this is one off the best pieces of snow clearing i`ve seen since watching Murder on the orient exspress. The snow plough is a great piece of engineering.
I leave them set in the correct position before the snow falls. If they are frozen up I use a little warm water. Thanks for watching, Keith

What do you use to control the speed and direction of the train? I want to get a live steam g scale train but I don't know much about them.

As good old British Rail would say, "Its the wrong kind of snow". To heavy for spectacular snow ploughing?

Is that sped up? Or is the train really fast?
mckbdj 2 years ago
It's the real speed - I had to take a good run at the snow to shift it.
Thanks, Keith

Since your model plow has windows I presume the full size version had someone sitting in there as a spotter? That must have been a fun job.. :P

Thanks. I''ve been very pleased with this Roundhouse Engineering loco. I've got another video of it on U Tube hauling a long train very slowly.

Thanks. It was great fun and I'm sure you'll like your Lady Anne. I always try to get outside for a steam up on the rare occasions that it snows.

The steam locomotive is an absolutely wonderful piece of engineering. Even if it is this small X)
