  • From my understanding, it is not the fact that he invented moves that makes Bravo great. He didn't exactly invent anything. What he did was compile a shitload of information from various grappling styles, and created a system based around that information.

Mendeleyev did not invent chemicals, but he did invent the periodic table of elements.

  • Love Bravo. I'm a flexible guy and it's always great, in any sport, to have a guy constantly reinventing the wheel. Bravo's techniques are not "new", but they are to folks that haven't seen them. Keep rolling.

  • im gonna practice these subs on my mom

  • he makes little action noises when he transitions... trait of a true stoner, gotta love it

  • most people aren't that flexible with their knees.. very impressive..

  • ill give eddie credit for making a system , but not for inventing new moves. thats just my opinion.

  • @wyattperrybjj he never said that he invented new moves, just gave names to the moves that didnt have names

  • @wyattperrybjj He has never said he creates new moves, he is just a proponent of certain techniques which a lot of people do not use. His style of jiu-jitsu is often more usable by people who have greater flexibility than others. Even something like the twister, which he popularized, is just the guillotine from wrestling.

So like you said, he has his own evolved style of JJ, and has incorporated different things to improve it.

  • I do gogplata from mount in a grappling match thank you from france

  • hes more like bruce lee in that hes helping martial arts to evolve not in how hard he trains though

  • that was pretty crazy when eddie had his leg on shinya's throat, i wonder if we will ever see it in the ufc

  • @ZeroZ06 Aoki did this in DREAM. So if you mean MMA when you say UFC then (like most of america says), yes it already happened.

  • Eddie Bravo is the Ip Man of Jiu Jitsu

  • @wookie808 Awesome analogy :D

  • @wookie808 i wouldn't go that far now.

  • @staralur03 if you don't agree, that means you don't understand.

  • Was this before or after Aoki busted this move in Dream?

  • Comment removed

  • I can't wait to try that on my friend.

  • @XiongMMA my friends never let me practice. :[

  • that move is awesome, I'm gonna try that.

  • Eddie Bravo wins!

  • And shinya actually used the move

  • Comment removed

  • that was shinya on bottom? looks young

  • 0:54

    bravo is a genius

  • sick! thats another move in my Jiu Jitsu Arsenal

  • Wow all that anger over a Gogoplata demonstration?

  • @FILTHYPAKI you should chill out and maybe smoke some weed or something

  • Eddie is the best BJJ grappler in the world. Shinya Aoki is no slouch but Eddie would tap him out quickly. No brazilians even come close

  • @BulldawgE Does Eddie even compete seriously anymore? Has he since like... 2005? I think Shinya would win.

  • @BulldawgE marcelo garcia would beat bravo. I'm sure bravo would say the same. Eddie is an amazing grappler but marcelo garcia would school him. do your homework son.

  • @BulldawgE Hahaha you are retarded

  • @ralph3nuis ok, a tap-out wearing GED having minimum wage making mma poser wanna be is calling me a retard?? hahahaha eat dick shit head. LOL !!!!

  • @BulldawgE They don't sell TapOut in The Netherlands and what has someones income have to do with it? You are clearly retarded, thanks for proving my point.

  • @ralph3nuis Oh, Shit my fault-you're from the NETHERLANDS!! well that explains why you sound like a pot smoking 2 cent whore dating dutch douchebag..keep talking, please..LOL!!

  • @BulldawgE You're level of retardation is hilarious, please keep commenting so other people can enjoy your dumb and ignorant little mind. I bet it's great being as dumb as you.

  • @ralph3nuis you sound like a broken record-I'm starting to wonder if you yourself is a damn mongoloid, but nevertheless thank you for sharing your OPIONIONS-I do appreciate them. Now let's look at the FACTS...I'm an American and you fall under the category of "OTHER"-which means you work for me and I own you, bitch. :)

  • @BulldawgE Wow, you must be the biggest loser in the world replying so fast every damn time. Must be great to live in a country with a dead economy a jobless rate of 20% and no bright future whatsoever. And you suck at trolling. And opionion, seriously? Even my shitty English is better than yours and it's my 4th language.

  • @ralph3nuis you better speak my fucking language, bitch, I own you! LOL...Yes I am a loser for responding quickly and guess what, there sport? SO ARE YOU (you responded to my post above within a few minutes) and I'm willing to bet you're sitting there in front of your computer jerking off to gay porn while smoking pot and getting high, with your heart about to explode because you're so pissed off and DYING to respond to my next post. Response in 10 Mins.?

  • @BulldawgE Trolling fail.

  • @ralph3nuis hey kankerlijer hou je bek tegen mijn bro wil je

  • @hallokity123 Ethic grammar fail.

  • @ralph3nuis hoe je bek kut nederlander

  • @hallokity123 More grammar failing, you're on a roll moron.

  • @ralph3nuis weet dat je nederlands bent kut hoofd

  • @hallokity123 And yet, you fail so hard. Your sentence makes no sense, your trolling is wack. Thank you, come again.

  • @hallokity123 You're Canadian! Hahaha, you shouldn't even be allowed on the internet, Canadian pussy hahahaha.

  • @hallokity123 You listen to Adele, hahaha! Fucking faggot.

  • @ralph3nuis hou je bek hoofd

  • @hallokity123 De gemiddelde down patiënt kan betere zinnen vormen dan jij.

  • The end is great when the reporter asks him,"Sorry what was the name of this technique?". Eddie says. "That's "Loco-plata", from the mount". "Loco" plata, haha.

  • THIS IS MY GO TO!

  • Bottom line is.. anyone who trains knows that there are certain aspects of the game and certain techniques that are best suited for their style or their body. There's no better this, better that... I personally love the rubber guard but lack the flexibility for it. Like Bruce Lee said, learn everything and take what is useful for yourself. Not in those exact words.

  • eddie bravo is the real deal

  • beautiful

  • @everyone if you dont like eddies beliefs or the people who support him dont comment if the rubber guard works for you use it if not stop watching the videos about eddies system shut the hell up

  • If this was MMA, you could probably just try and knock him out from the mount. Or if you wanna do jiu jitsu, just do the triangle from the mount, for example at 0:26, just bring your right leg over and bam!

  • nick diaz vs. gomi.nick wins with a gogoplata

  • @carlsongracieteam It is painfully obvious by your nick name you will not go past your Royler's defeat vs Eddie Bravo. Your attempt to discredit Eddie come from a dark place.....You say his style does not fit MMA...you sir have not seen AOKI then... I have seen many MMA finishes by Gogoplata and only the elite fighters can pull them...

I am sad that the Carlos Gracie folks are now left to discredit the innovators of the sport....somehow, they cant get over their defeats from Saku or Eddie

  • you can say what you want about eddie, his moves and setups towards his moves work and thats all i really care about... i'd listen to a blue belt if what he's saying is making sense and is tried and tested..

  • Eddie is legit as hell, and 10th planet JJ is very interesting but I hate his style, too much flashy moves requiring flexibility and less emphasis on the Bones are Basics.

  • Eddie is fucking amazing and his influence and technique for the sport does not get enough attention as it deserves. He is breaking new levels and seems to have stepped out of a jujitsu time machine from the future

  • i think eddie is good and has some good moves, but you shouldnt base your whole game on rubber guard, or else you really limit your potential, the best rubber guard guy right now sotiropolis, hazelett, aoki- all where high level grapplers with great all around games before adding rubber guard to the mix, if you rely only on rg then your other parts of your game will suffer, and when your rg fails you are going to get spanked by high level comp.

  • and you guys eddie bravo's fan think he created this move? he doesn't created nothing, nino shembri does that 15 years ago he put this name gogoplata just because we call throut in brasil gogo e omoplata means the group of muscles like shoulder and back muscles and nino shembri start this choke from omoplata move, and i not agree this guy is cool because he smoke pot, and say to everybody this is great i have one son and that mother fucker thinks is nice encourage young kids to use drugs

  • @shogum89 jesus motherfuck that was hard to read

  • Wow you guys who are saying the rubber guard doesn't work are on crack. Guys in MMA rarely use the rubber guard the proper way. George Sotiropoulos proved the rubber guard WORKS this past weekend. Mission control is a great technique to lock your opponents arms up to prevent from getting ground and pounded and you can transition to numerous advantageous positions. Do your homework before saying it doesn't work, study it properly saying it doesn't work makes you guys look retarded & ignorant.

  • I fucking love shinya

  • KKKKKKKKKKKKK HORRIBLE I WANNA SEE U DOING THAT WITH A BJJ FIGHTER

  • @rodrigobjjj why is that move horrible? gogo plata from mount?

  • it seems that when bravo bases out on his hand, there is no weight on his right leg, bottom guy could just reguard

  • Yeah Eddie doesn't have many achievements besides being the only American to beat a Gracie in a grappling match

  • @HotRod6 he isnt the only american to beat a gracie but once again another uneducated eddie bravo nut hugger. And Royler gracie is garbage he has no great achievements in mma or grappling. Jake shields beat rocian gracie last time i check jake shields is american. and americans tap gracie's every year especially at the pan american open.

  • @carlsongracieteam You are calling that dude an uneducated idiot after saying royler gracie is garbage and has no accomplishments.... You are the idiot. Royler is a 4 time world champion (all in a row) a 2 time pan am champ and a three time abu dabhi champ. When eddie bravo beat him royler was the reigning champion. Do your homework, and don't go calling an legend of the sport and an amazing human being a garbage fighter. If royler dosent have any achievement neither does jacare maia or marcelo

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam Dude you are just making excuses now. He won the mundials the same years that Saulo, Shaolin, Mario Sperry, Bj penn, Leo Vieira, fabio gurgel, bustamante, and many others were winning. The only difference is that royler was winning them all in a row, four times in a row. Would you like to call those other guys garbage? You are the only jiu jitsu practitioner that i have ever met that dosent think royler is a true legend. The ENTIRE jiujitsu world disagrees with you.

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam HE WON THREE ADCC'S IN A ROW! He is a legend with out a gi too. He just got caught, how can you not wrap your brain around that. Even the best get caught. He was absolutely dominating Abu Dabhi when eddie beat him. Every time you comment you keep saying he has done nothing. You said his accomplishments in the world didn't mean anything, and now you say his three ADCC's in a row mean nothing. I am not the one that keeps sounding dumb here. 99.9% of the bjj world disagrees w you

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam Dude he came from the same era as rolleta, sperry, bustamante, jean jaces machado, Baret Yoshida (who royler beat in the finals), saulo riberio, renzo gracie, Ricardo Liborio, and Rigan Machado. All these dudes fought the same years as royler, and they are all legends and high level grapplers themselves.

  • @TheAndrewMan1000 wow once again dumb comment, nino destroyed people because no one knew what it was, just like royce gracie was destroying people in mma because none of his oppenents knew jiu jitsu, now everyone knows the rubber guard and everyone knows jiu jitsu and the, gogoplata, omoplata, loco etc. which are all extremely easy to defend once again ur making dumb comments.

  • @carlsongracieteam Youv'e been making dumb comments the entire time dude. Every move has its place. The rubber guard isn't the end all answer to jiu jitsu like eddie says it is, but it still has its place, and it is still used in high level grappling, with success. Your obviously very closed minded about jiu jitsu, and its going to hurt your game in the long run. You still sound like a raving white belt that doesn't know anything about the game.

  • @carlsongracieteam Someone needs to tap you out the rubber guard over and over again just to show you how ignorant you are. I'd be happy to do it. I win plenty of matches with the "Rubber guard", even though thats not even what it should be called, its giving Eddie too much credit.

  • @TheAndrewMan1000 did you really just say i know nothing of jiu jitsu lets talk bjj? we can talk any guard anything from de le riva, to x-guad to deep half guard, we can talk any choke whether its reverse ezekiel or dracula or any thing, we can talk any sweep flower sweep, stack attack etc, we can talk any arm lock, and leg lock , i will at least have a basic idea of any technique thats what doing bjj all your life does for you.

  • @carlsongracieteam Yes i did say it, you have given me no other reason to think otherwise. You can name tons of moves, you might even be able to preform all of them, but individual moves aren't what jiu jitsu is all about. Everyone has different variations to different moves. It's about body type and what goes best with your body. Some people have a lot of success with the "rubber guard", you might have a counter, but there is a counter to every counter. Its an intricate game and there is no end

  • @TheAndrewMan1000 your right there is no end but there is a reason no world champions use rubber guard and there is a reason you rarely ever see anyone end a mma or grappling match from the rubber guard, dont get me wrong it is great for breaking down ones posture very good for that but its hard to finish from it. and well im not a believer some are most arent. i will use it if someon has a strong posture but thats about it.

  • @carlsongracieteam all answer to anything. I know a lot of people who don't like the rubber guard. One of the black belts in my school hates it, but even he sees that it has its place in peoples games, and can be very effective even against him. There are no "bad" moves. Train with saulo sometime, he will show you how easy it is to defend the de le riva. No body does anything to saulo in the de la riva guard, but he dosen't say its a bad move, and he encourages people to work it.

  • @TheAndrewMan1000 actually mr de le riva himself destroys saulo, and how is that a fair? if you place saulo in the rubber guard he would laugh at you? of course saulo would shut down my game he is one of the greatest world champions ever are u being serious right now? lets not get ridiculous. im glad you like the rubber guard tell me how that works out for you when you start grappling at a high level

  • @carlsongracieteam Iv'e had private lessons with saulo, he has never bashed the rubber guard. My best friend dima trains with him in cali, and has helped dima with his rubber guard.

  • @carlsongracieteam and watch Demian Maia vs Flávio Almeida, eddie bravo teaches that very move.

  • @TheAndrewMan1000 bro eddie got his black belt in the gi! lol he is a gi black belt, he made up 10th planet to fund his music career compella and twisters, he even says in an interview his true passion is music and bjj is his job not his passion.

  • @carlsongracieteam Maybe, but still his JJ is much more creative and evolved than the Gracies..... The Gracies are old school now.... Just as Tae Kwon Do.

  • @gpohls bro there is so much more to bjj than the gracies, the typical outsiders think there is rubber guard, and the gracie closed guard but there is oh so much more, there is de le riva guard, 50/50 guard, butterfly guard, quarter guard, deep half guard, turtle guard, octupus guard, upside down guard,z guard, spider guard, and many more, the rubber guard is just one element of jiu jitsu, and it is ridiculous to try and build an entire jj system off one guard as 10th planet is trying to do.

  • @carlsongracieteam

you seem to be very myopic about the techniques of which you approve. The closed guard was all there was at one point during the early development of BJJ. It could even be said that the Gracie's built an entire system of bjj off of one guard; the closed guard.

as far as your challenge to list fights that have concluded due to a submission set-up from the rubber guard - dude, really? Royler lost to Eddie due to a triangle set-up from the rubber guard.

  • @carlsongracieteam

A simple search on this very medium (youtube) will result in numerous submission grappling matches that have ended due to a submission set-up from the rubber guard.

Open your eyes, you might actually learn something.

  • @ThoughtControl really give me a link to a grappling match and an mma fight ended from the rubber guard i gurantee i know more than you from the rubber guard and from bjj in general, and i dont even like the rubber guard, if you want we can talk what ever you want rg or bjj guards, mounts, sweeps etc. go ahead.

  • @carlsongracieteam I have studied under Gracie Barra in Phx, good school! But, now I am changing to 10th planet... I have met Eddie and Joe Rogan and their approach to JJ ( I wont call it BJJ anymore, since Eddies is American JJ) is far more interesting, creative and IMHO effective. We will open an MMA academy in Mexico pretty soon, you are always welcome, I only have good things about my time with the Gracies, but now its time to evolve

  • @gpohls i have no interest in studying thins that dont work, the rubber guard offers 3 main submissions that all have low success rates, omoplata, gogoplata, locoplata, the positions are ridiculous, chill dog, newyork, zombie, and not only that but have you ever seen a mma fight ended in the rubber guard, or better yet? have you ever even seen a grappling match ended from the rubber guard? my point exactly effective my ass..

  • @carlsongracieteam

Guys aren't good enough with the rubber guard or experienced enough with it. Takes tons of practice to just be decent at it. Dudes like Bravo and Aoki, who are well versed in it can use it effectively. Like any high level technique in Martial Arts, if you aren't good at it, it won't be of much use.

  • @MMAenthusiastUHHE bro there are hundreds of people who have been doing the 10th planet system since the late 90's, guys like denny prokopos, bj penn, etc. but bro all the submissions from rubber guard are low percentage, gogo plata, omoplata, locoplata, those are all have less than a 10 percent success rate. their is no good sweeps, and the rubber guard is easy to smash and pass. you wont see a finish from rubber guard in the ufc not even from bjj world champ bj penn... sorry man it doesnt work

  • @carlsongracieteam

Triangles are pretty high percentage bro and I usually do good with with the gogoplata, considering that nobody at my gym teaches the rubber guard. It also helps to neutralize some nasty ground and pound, I see it as more of a defensive than offensive guard. So far it's been helpful in certain situations and I don't have much experience, but I'm not that stubborn, if later on it feels useless like you said, i'll stop trying to learn it.

  • @MMAenthusiastUHHE for one you dont even have a triangle set up, you have what they call a neck bolt which is a neck crank. you lock the figure four in the rubber guard by their head, in a triangle you lock the figure four by their shoulder. the only think rubber guard does is break the opponent down and if they stand up u have to let go of mission control anyways otherwise you get slammed on your head.

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam

I'm afraid you are mistaken there my friend, I've seen how to transition from mission control to a triangle. Tried it out at the gym while rolling, it works fine. I work out at the BTT in San Antonio, the instructors all favor their Gi's, so it's not like they're Gi hating 10th planet loving type instructors and they gave me advice on that transition.

  • @MMAenthusiastUHHE bro u wil nvr see bjj world champs use it, roger gracie the bet p4p grappler in the world, and undefeated mma fighter uses nothing but the basics. marcelo garcia no rubber guard, ,mendes bros no rubber guard, cobrinha no rubber guard, eduardo telles no rubber guard, rickson no rubber guard, abmar barbosa no rubber guard, cyborg abreau no rubber guard, gregor gracie no rubber guard, jacare no rubber guard, all the best nogi champions in the world dont use rubber guard. proof.

  • @carlsongracieteam

Yea bro I understand that, I watch plenty of MMA and never see it. But it's not like it's a must, either you can try to learn it or not, it's no big deal. There's no harm it people trying to learn it, if it works for them great, if not then they'll drop it.

  • @MMAenthusiastUHHE bro i dont care if they try to learn it but its the fact that people are saying this is better than the original stuff when 10th planet is a system based entirely on one single guard. bjj has literally thousands of guards from every position, de le riva, spider guard, upside down guard, deep half guard, quarter guard, butterfly guard, x- guard, dlr loop, sit up guard, foot on hip guard, turtle guard, octupus guard, and 1000's more. just bothers me ppl say 10th planet is best.

  • @carlsongracieteam

well than that's your problem bro, just because you're bitter towards them doesn't mean you should try to discourage people from it. You already know what's good and what works, don't let biased opinions bother you. I try to learn whatever technique helps me, no matter where they come from.

  • @MMAenthusiastUHHE lol aoki killing people whens the last time aoki got a sub from the rubber guard? and bj penn is the worlds greatest grappler in the mma lightweight division. normal guard what is the normal guard? bjj has thousands of guards. spider guard, de le riva guard, half guard, deep half guard, quarter guard, upside down guard, tornado guard, turtle guard, z-guard, butterfly guard. which one of these is the normal guard? your uneducated. thats a fact

  • @carlsongracieteam

yea you directed that comment at the wrong person buddy lol

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam I'm not a huge fan of rubber guard but there are some valid set ups for armbars and triangles that are pretty effective. I played around with it a little and the triangle set up is pretty easy to get to.

  • @carlsongracieteam all you do is find eddie bravo vids and talk shit, find something better to do with ur life stupid fuck

  • @carlsongracieteam Do you actually represent the views of the whole Carlson Gracie team, or are all these your personal views? Have you ever tried to counter the properrubber guard? In the end, it's still a guard like all other guards, and I'm sure you know that those who practice with a particular guard for years would have really good techniques and strategies to go with its use, and high or low percent, a submission is a submission, as it will always be there as a potential finisher.

  • @carlsongracieteam dogs. But my buddy dustin dense (one of the top jj instructors of American top team, and nogueira/ de le riva black belt) continously comes to our school with stories of guys like royler, de le riva, rolleta, and countless other guys, still beating up on the world champions of today. Your vision of how jiu jitsu works is very very wrong. You should really discuss your philosophy of it with a guy like david adiv, saulom or even a guy like royler.

  • @carlsongracieteam Maybe a person that actually knows something about jiu jitsu can explain how reality works youtube.com=

    ZVcTrUCqHRE

  • @carlsongracieteam Your also and idot to think eddie invited all those moves, and that they are garbage. Nino shimbri was winning high level tournaments years before eddie ever released his stuff. Nino named the loco and the gogopalata, not eddie. And anyone who says it doesn't work should go roll with Nino, the dude was destroying people with that stuff in his era. You need to do your HW on your jiu jitsu before you flash your opinion. You sound like a first year white belt.

  • @carlsongracieteam And you are crazy if you think eddie would ever win that match if it replayed. Even the best get caught. It happens in every single sport. Why is jiujitsu any different. You obviously need to fix your brain. The best always get caught. Royler is one of the most accomplished grapplers that has ever lived. You should give him his credit.

  • @carlsongracieteam Did you say Royler has no great achievements in grappling? he is a legend.

  • @adrock3 I was arguing that Royler was one of the greatest as he is a many time world and adcc champion. I was trying to explain what the gi does, the gi slows everything down, makes you think of your next move, makes your really smart, if you can defend a submission in the gi, when you take it off the transition is very smooth, which explains why every single, adcc, and no gi world champion ever at the black belt level trains in the gi.

  • @carlsongracieteam you again proved how stupid and absolutely closed minded you are, WOW you are stupid. loool. first of royler gracie and marcelo garcia are the only people to win the adcc 3 times. royler is also a 4 time world champion 4 years in a roll and won the pan american 2 years in a roll. plus no one ever scored a point on royler at adcc before eddie and no one tapped royler in his weight category until eddie. so yes once again you've proved how stupid you are.

  • Shinya Aoki was not trained by Eddie Bravo just because he uses rubber guard techniques. He earned his BJJ Black Belt from Yuki Nakai, who could learn a thing or two from probably.

  • @Ahhhoki What I meant to was that Eddie could learn a thing or two from Yuki.

  • @strabello1 yeah i know but at the time i didn't realize he had worked with him any. i didn't know as much then as i do now, i wasnt very well versed in japanese mma or anything non ufc. still though he does utilize a nice little bit of rubber guard type jiu jitsu. one way or the other though aoki has the single most exciting jiu jitsu in mma, MAYBE with the exception of demian maia

  • i love using the rubber guard..probably the most useful technique in b.j.j. IMO...

  • No disrespect, but I've smashed almost every single person who's used RG. I guess they just weren't taught it properly.

  • @pchancey007 - i guess it depend if they're flexible enough..i know some guys who use the RB,but they weren't that flexible..and that kinda stops em' from fully use the RB...

  • Que bueno el video, ahora ya sabemos de donde saco la inspiración Aoki. Daría lo que fuera por entrenar con Bravo, lástima que no tenga la flexibilidad necesaria ni para llegar a mission control casi xD

  • Why Eddy Bravo does not fight in real? Anyone knows the reason?

  • hes already proven himself. look for the royler gracie vs eddie bravo match.

  • @shmagmiepen - that was one fight years ago....name a second impressive victory

  • who cares? beating any gracie is like winning the super bowl. obviously eddie likes to teach more then play. he also has his bjj black belt under Jean-Jacques Machado. Machaado doesnt just give his belts out. eddie is legit whether you guys like to believe it or not. go to a NAGA event or any other competition and you will see non 10th planet guys using the lockdown and ruggerguard among others. eddie has nothing left to prove. go to a 10th planet gym yourself and roll with them see what happens

  • anybody can get tapped at any time....just because some random white belt catches a black belt in a tap doesn't mean the white belt should be able to make a career off that

eddie is a funny guy, he is interesting, he is innovative, he smokes a lot of pot, and he had ONE impressive match....that's all there is to the guy

  • you make kind of a moot point. i know you were speaking in generalities but eddie isnt some a random white belt. ill reiterate, eddie got his belt under Machado who doesnt pass them out like halloween candy. eddie beat royler not because of a lucky triangle, he worked hard the entire match and passed everything royler threw at him then tapped him out.

if eddie had nothing to him then why are his gyms popping up all over the country? his 19th planet system is in high demand.

  • i too was a little infatuated by eddie when i first discovered him...watched all his tapes and do use his twister guard from time to time..

however, the more i heard him talk the more i searched for more accomplishments....they simply are not there....and there are tons of machado black belts as are there are tons of gracie black belts, but that doesnt make them icons of a sport......

this guy is a cool, non traditional black belt that connects with young, hip white kids....but thats about it

  • like i said ealier, eddie is more into teaching. you can see it in this video alone he really enjoys showing people things. personally i dont care for strikes in mma and like the chess match that is the ground game.

i not one to play any race cards but hip white kids? when i rolled in 10th planet hartford there was a black dude in there and im portuguese. the others in there i wouldnt consider hip. they all were great guys tho. including the female that was there. she was no joke

  • not racial, thats eddies fan base and that base makes him popuolar, and sure there are others, but it describes a majority of the fanatics

ill give you that he is an interesting teacher....but fighter (back to the original comment)...naahhhhh!!!!

  • @VibrantnetNet truer words have never been spoken

  • @VibrantnetNet but you see, eddie is actually good, he earned what he has now.

  • @VibrantnetNet lol ive never seen a white belt catch a black....maybe a purple... but to be honest white one purple ive never seen it even that close unless the white is massive....

  • @VibrantnetNet

he isnt a white belt, he is a decent blackbelt, but i agree, competition wise he has one impressive match and has made alot of money and fame from it. i would like to see him grapple top guys now like jeff glover or ryan hall.

  • @nextgenfighter1 i think you already know the answer....not sure why you think he would do any better than any other instructor out there b/c he doesnt regularly compete...even truly great grapplers like BJ Penn would have trouble with the top talent b/c he is not active at gi competition right now

  • @VibrantnetNet So you don't think Eddie is making the sport evolve?

  • @pludden11 yes, the rubber guard is a cool contribution, although it has limited use....but the original question was about Eddie himself as a fighter

  • Because he's happy teaching and doesn't like to get punched in the face?

  • Cool video. I'd love to see a grappling match between Aoki and Bravo; two masters of rubber guard JJ...

  • ロコプラッタってジョークでいっているのわかってんだろうな。Bravo's submisson techs have become very popular among the Japanese because his body type resembles that of Asians.

  • how does he come up with this things? Oh yeah that's right he smokes ganja! :D

  • People can be as negative towards Eddie as they want but all he is doing is pushing this sport forward. I'm personally a huge fan of his, I think he's very talented and a good teacher.

  • him and bj must have the top flexibility

  • so is this just a a mounted gogplata or this move has another name?

  • wow you're an ignoramus

  • what? eddie has experience over bj by far. quit being a little fanboy

  • Eddie Bravo is about the EVOLUTION of jiu-jitsu. Of course he has holes in his game but he is still a student of Machado and a serious black belt. Take what works and leave the rest for someone else. Eddie is only trying to bring his unique approach and philosophy to the game because he loves jiu-jitsu so much. I think it is just Eddie's personality that most people don't like. The thing is though that people will come and go but the knowledge and the EVOLUTION of that will last ages.

  • I agree with you...Personally I dont know Eddie, so I cant speak good or bad about him, but the 10th planet system seems great...I am a Bjj blue belt in Gracie Barra, and started practicing the rubber guard after I saw Eddie, and has worked for me so far, specially to set up the omoplata...I would like to train with them specially cause I prefer No Gi any day of the week...

  • True. All the respect I have for eddie bravo is because of how unorthodox he is. If he applied himself as much as a gracie, he'd be unstoppable. He's pretty overrated, but I still like him.

  • Eddie Bravo is so overrated that it is not even funny. He has Joe Rogan on his nuts all the time. There are so many BJJ guys that are better than him.

  • Such as?

  • Marcelo Garcia, Robert Drysdale, Roger Gracie, BJ Penn, Damian Mia, and I think he would have serious problems beating Royler again. The list goes on and on.

  • I doubt BJ Penn could beat him jiujitsu. Highly, highly doubt it. Everyone else I agree with. Not to mention Kron, Rickson's son is starting to look solid. He might be able to give Eddie a run for his money these days.

  • Not to flame on you dude. I love intelligent debate, but BJ's BJJ is super duper solid. I think he is world class, but he kind of went in another direction with the MMA thing. I don't think Bravo competes much anymore that I know of. It would be a cool match to see, and I agree with you on Kron. He is coming up!

  • There's no denying BJ has world class jiujitsu, the thing is that it's only natural that people who focus on grappling will excel more than someone who focuses on MMA which is everything.

He might be able to beat Eddie, but him beating Roger or Marcelo or Jacare is just not possible. At least not in pure jiujtisu. They're on another level.

  • Agree on those top guys. They are top of the food chain.

  • hahah kron would KILL Bravo man I am a blue belt under Rickson and im telling you that Kron is an ANIMAL
