@BlackPhantomJambo No this Spitfire is actually younger than P7350 as it was built in 1941.
Although P7350 is no longer the oldest airworthy Spitfire in the world as a Mk Ia P9374 (G-MKIA) which crash landed on a French beach in May 1940 and spent almost 40 years buried in the sand has recently returned to the air
P7350 is still the only airworthy Spitfire to have seen combat during the Battle of Britain though
@TopGunSGA If P7350 saw action in the battle of britain then it could not have been built in 1941, as it entered service on 13th August 1940. You are correct about P9374 as it's first flight was on 23rd Feb 1940.
I have said this before, I think (must have) that you have made some of the best downloads of WW2 aircraft and the most comprehensive descriptions ever !!
@1339LARS Well em you’re not really supposed to download them, but I think a lot of people do that. You’re supposed to view on YouTube and click adverts.
@cloudsplitter24 From the 78th aircraft the two blade wooden propeller was replaced by a de Havilland two-speed 3-blade propeller. From the 175th aircraft the engine was changed from the 1030 hp Merlin II to the similar Merlin III, which could take either the de Havilland propeller or a more advanced Rotol propeller. These changes increased the performance of the Spitfire at different speeds.
So is this Mk I Spifire the oldest airworthy Spitfire in the world? I thought the Mk IIa P7350 was.

That's terrific, love that airplane! I didn't realize the Mk 1 had a 3-blade prop. Was that an upgrade?
