  • Ok cool thought (I'll give them that) but there's something about tuning and doing a restring on your guitar by hand THAT shows that you love your guitar and your music.

So if it takes more time, who ceres people will chill for a sec if they love music.

  • If you suck at guitar you probably aren't buying a 2 500$ Gibson.

  • ....bah....what i really need is a microled inlayed neck and a selector for the tonality (or 8\9 tonalities..)...so u click Bb- and your neck will display where to improvise....or just a few pentatonics..or a simple c maj scale or whatever ..so i can play me too and not waste my time looking at silly guitar video or practising...

  • Now people won't bother to learn how to tune. Then when their battery runs down they will be up shit creek without a paddle. Well maybe not. I don't think many people today would know what a paddle is or how to use it.

  • If it set its own action and intonation i would be very impressed.

"Robot guitar has sensed you put 13s on this month.. what would you like the instrument's key to be? C Sharp? Bending neck to MURDER ALL STRING BUZZ!

String buzz murdered, action comfortable? Happy playing!"

  • @metalmattm It doesn't to it automagically but it tells you how much to turn the bridge screws

  • Wow who knew the guitar world had elitists. Ah well at least these elitists just like every one pack of them will die out.

  • i don't understand why they would make this guitar. is it for lazy people? you should be able to tune to an open tuning with your ear. wow, things are just getting stupid.

by the time it took to chage, most guitarist would have done it in the same time.

    whatever. good luck with that!

  • you dumbasses are missing the point, what this gives you is the ability to switch between 7 totally programmable tunings in a few seconds.

    brilliant.

any dick that suggests that people are going to buy one of these because they cant tune a guitar is just a fuck head.

  • if u can't tune ur guitar by just using your ears, then don't even buy a gibson.lol

i would rather spend 50 dollar on tuner than 2000$ on gibson :3

  • Nice... it's pretty fascinating electronics if you're gonna take it apart and reverse engineer it.... Servo motors in the tuners? Really? You would normally find servo motors in disk drives. Who would have thought of servo motor application in guitars? And of course you need a microprocessor to control the servos. Is it a great guitar? I dunno, I can appreciate the engineering behind it. Just my two cents.

  • lol if you suck at guitar, you don't deserve to own this thing. but I hate this guitar.

  • People are lazy

  • they should make a guitar that plays itself. lol

  • lolz whats the big deal about tuning!.. tuning is very easy lolz!

  • Tuning quickly to alternate tunings onstage isn't easy. Intonation isnt easy. Even without the robot tuning, this is cheaper AND better than a normal Les Paul Studio - it has better runers (locking tuners) and a better input jack (Neutrik).

  • clearly you've never played a gig and had your guitar go out of tune in the middle of a song, or had to replace a string in the middle of a set.

  • lol it brings groupies to orgasm

  • But if you are performing at a gig, and you need to change your tuning, this is the best.

    1. Waste of time to slowly tune

    2. Use another guitar? Why not just buy 1...

  • Way too expensive for me, but i like it :3

  • Kinda cool as a gimmicky gadget but i prefer to wind my strings myself. Just another example of human laziness.

  • hahaha guess you're right

  • Yeah I agree with that.

And in my opinion the guitar sounds like shit anyway.

  • tuning a guitar doesn't suck... that guy doesnt know what he's talking about

  • It does in the middle of a song.

  • but it´s waste of time!

  • Good one but too expensive for me..lol

  • Ok now I want to see a guitar that can prevent strings from breaking on stage. And when it does, it replaces the string right after and tune it as well. And if it could have some vending machine, with like, beer, it would be veeery nice.

  • hhaha yea i like the beer idea

  • lol, i didn't notice until almost the end that the guy doing the interview was Hard from Hard n' Phirm.

  • ps

The James bond gadget fascination attracted me to the idea of getting this guitar, but the sound quality and playability was what sealed it. I think Gibson pulled out all the stops with this, aware it was going to be scrutinized, made sure it was built top notch!

It is my favourite Gibson and plays as well as my beloved Gretsch 6120 Brian Setzer.

    Matt

  • I own this guitar and 16 others (5 Gibsons). I agree with the comments about not being lazy. I have trained my ear over the years to write scores away from an instrument. Where this guitar is great is playing live and changing tunings (while vocalist talks to audience) I press the E major command and 20 seconds later I am ready to play slide!

    Matt

  • man thats just a waste of money cuz people that play guitar and are good at it..theres no need for a guitar like that...also people have to learn how to tune them selves

  • People that are good at guitar know many songs in many tunings and it's a bitch to go from tuning to tuning inbetween songs, and I'm tired of people who have probably never seen a robot keep saying you won't learn how to tune a guitar by ear, I think that if you are commited to buying a gibson of any kind, you'ed know how to tune a guitar by ear before you bought it.

  • this is cool... real amazing, in fact... but i will refuse to play with a person that does not know how to tune by hand.

  • 3. Why do guitarist feel like they need to waste time tuning, when I'm playing a gig I want it to be as fast and as easy as possible plus it obviously doesn't change the aesthetic of the guitar because all the machinery is on the inside. People need to stop being elitist or overly traditional, its ok to be different.

  • 1. Tuning isn't all that easy as a beginner so it only makes the instrument more accessible

    2. No matter how good you make the tuners you can't keep a string from going out of tune, other things besides the tuner affect the string like temperature, stretching and bending etc.

  • everythings cooler when its a robot

  • Je vous la propose à 1500 euros allez sur babeloorecords a la page guitare ! Merci .

The best price on the net 1500 euros

go to the babeloorecords . Thank you .

    Edition limited .

  • if you cant tune jit yourself how are you suppose to do the rain song or thats the way by led zeppelin i mean a little to high tech for now.

  • I thought he said you could set your own tunings and save them too.

  • can you tune it yourself?

    like

    w/ your hand?

or will it fuck it up?

  • yes u can. you pull out on the tuning peg and turn.

  • this is fuking amazing you people complain about it but why whould you want to wate your time tunning a guitar when all you have to do is toch a button pick up the guitar and play.

  • I really don't get it. Tuning is the easiest thing in the world, do you really need help? And why ruin a classic, time-honored instrument with goofy gimmicks like this?

I understand making changes and improvements, but why not just equip the guitar with improved tuners and so on to keep it in tune longer? A $70 set of planet waves tuners, and a decent quality nut + setup will do the trick. I set up an Epi LP like that (w/ an Earvana nut) and it stays in tune.

  • Add on: While I love Planet Waves locking tuners (they cut the strings for you too), but they could use some improvement aesthetically before putting them on a Gibson Les Paul. Maybe a "Classic Version."

  • why create a robot guitar ?

    becuz we can....

  • i really want that!!!!!!!!!

  • Tuning is a pain and this seems like a respectable approach to eliminating that pain. AND it's on a Gibson Les Paul!

  • this should only be for guitarists who can tune a guitar as easy as 123 but are just tired of tuning it EVERY time they play...This helps mostly for the SG

  • I agree that it would be nice. But beginners MUST learn how to tune a guitar themselves. Won't be long 'till every guitar plays itself for you. And yes SGs do go out out of tune a lot. It does me head in.

  • they will, its far too expensive for beginers anyways

  • yeah, its pretty easy to pick up with tuning, spechially using harmonics

  • I don't agree that this is just for lazy players or people who can't tune. I own an Epiphone SG std, which goes out of tune like a bastard. I have to tune it almost every minute. It would be nice to not have to take that much time out of my playing. Plus getting set up for shows is a lot easier, especially since you wouldn't have to switch guitars to save time when swtiching tuning. In my opinion this is quite innovative even for the most experienced players

  • My Epiphone SG Special also comes out of tune alot.

  • A good set of locking tuners should be able to sort that out. Gibson and Epiphone stock tuners aren't horrible, but they suck a huge one in comparison to Sperzels (for example).

  • Doesn't the space used for the hardware affect the sound?.. I mean there's no wood there, and almost every variable affects the tone in some way..

  • the whole package, hell yeah.. FOR THOSE RICH ASSHOLES!

  • are you saying that all people who work alot and finally makes much money are assholes..?

  • ehm..... you perfectly know that i'm not

  • I guess I didn't realize success is a bad thing which can only be obtained by assholes...

  • It's not about the guitar tuning itself but the need of playing in alternative tunings at a touch of at button that's attracts me.... and yes, you can manually tune the Guitar.... And I been doing that for 20 years...Think of it as a piano player that's never need's to tune his piano... That's the keyboard player we hear on the radio every day... It just hit the guitar decades later and that is today...

  • i so dont want one cuz A) its expensive B) hoo would wanna pay over 2Gs over sumthing that that does things for ya (y dont they make sumthing that plays for ya too?!!) and C) this is a PERFECT example as to y America is so lazy!!!

  • ..lets just say that this is a blessing to people that tune horribly.

  • yeah good point lol

  • We're lazy because we create innovate technology that enhances science and our understanding of how the universe works?

How's about you're lazy because you won't spell out the word "why".

  • vibrax7795:

    A) All Gibsons are pretty expensive. In fact, the Robot Guitar is most definitely not the most expensive guitar in Gibson's line-up. There are guitars that go for $10k. The difference is, the guitar players know they're paying for a good guitar. You clearly don't see anything but figures.

    B) Who would want to pay over $2k for something that does things for you? Why would you pay $30k for a car when you could walk?

  • (cont. @ vibrax7795)

    C) I'm pretty sure this is also a perfect example of how innovative some Americans can be. And you realize this isn't being marketed towards just Americans.

  • haha

its a quality machine and i would love one

even if the robotics did mess up and break youd still have a gibson les paul that tunes manually lol

  • haha

its a quality machine and i would love one

even if the robotics did mess up and break youd still have a gibson les paul that tunes manually lol

  • it looks like a hell of a machine but its just something that will break within 5 minutes

  • yeah sadly i agree...and people with no skill will cry and shoot themselves.

  • Just wait till the robotics break. Then the people who can't tune their guitar will cry

  • u can tune it manually too i think lol

  • god bless the normal tuner and my hears too

  • what has mankind done now! lol

  • well this about the start of a generation of degraded musicianship....lazy people who can't tune their guitar by ear since just having a developed ear is a big part of being a musician

  • just got one of ebay cnt wait to get it

  • This might sound a little outta tune but my friend just got one & sliding into the g string was tight could ya send some K.Y.?

  • lmao 1Phat

  • wtf?? i am so jealous of him

  • only 2500 bucks for something any guitarist should be able to do. thats so brutal.

  • OMG O_O

  • wow i didn't know prostitutes make that much money

and wait a minute arent you wasting time watching this video too

  • their back and forth banter and forced jokes was incredibly painful to me.

  • amen. get robot drum tuning.

  • that is so sick, too bad everything gibson sells is ridiculously over priced

  • When is that shit gonna be available for drums ??? Can't wait..lol (even though I know drum tunning is not about perfection..)
