This just sounds fantastic. Compare this to any of the vids of the Arturia Jupiter 8V, and the MKS-50 just blows it away. And it costs LESS than the software model too. It's juicy and sounds 3 dimensional. I guess hardware, even with one oscillator, still wins by a long shot...
Thanks for posting this. Nice range of sounds. Love the housey pads (I'm not a house lover).
Seems you get pretty smooth editing from the PCR-500. I have found filter sweeps a bit steppy from PG300EMU. I'll have to make myself a patch for my hardware controller. Is your controller plugged direct to the MKS-50?
Thats a good price you paid for it, lately my juno has been a right star! It's turned out 3 avarage tracks into beatuties hahah
Honestly dude gave me a tune with some ace drum work but it was lacking something he said synth wise...I was like oh hell I know what that nees lol I go get my alpha out and BAM man that hit the G spot in seconds, bass and pads simply ace. Has a very warm tone indeed, when I have to take a bit of gear with me it's either the mpc or the juno lol
That would be great but on a big downer unless you have magic powers of luck I dont think you will want to buy a pg-300...have you seen the prices they are going for!?!? lol I saw an alpha go for about 350 just cos it had the programer, not worth it imo..could get a juno 60 for that
Just get a juno 2 and keep the rack lol then u have 2 of the buggers
The Juno 60 is a different synth, it is the VCO version of the Juno 106.
The PG300 programmers used to sell for the same price as the Alphas second hand. I've owned 3 over the years and you may as well use sound diver instead
@gmullin any midi hardware that sends nrpn can controll mks50's envelopes. so you can tweak it from an edirol as the one used in this video or get a behringer bcr. a whole lot cheaper than a pg-300
the instrument sounds fantastic even when only noise is done instead of music.

This predates SAW. They used the DX7 and D-50.

This is the Stock Aitken Waterman synth sound.

Damn right. I cant get over how "alive" it sounds. It's got warmth and fatness and real punch to the bass. It's the best £94 I've ever spent.

I've got a crazy idea of building a desktop alpha juno out of my mks50 and a pg300 (if I can get one).

@LALLZ Juno 6/60 doesn't have VCOs. Still DCOs. The difference is in the filter chip (better in the 60) and the hardware envelopes.
