To "aet2009", common sense? Apparently you don't understand that a cat's coat is what actually keeps it cool during the summer months. Not shaving all the hair off. The only reason to "trim" a cat or dog's fur is because it gets matted or you need a hygiene cut. As for dog's, people want certain breeds to look a certain way. It's nonsense to say shaving off an animals hair will keep it cooler. Google it. I work at a groom shop.

@aet2009 cats are okay in the summer they sweat through their paws and tongue, their hair is hollow so it holds in cool air and keeps the fur light and fluffy and their small surface area makes them less prone to exhaustion and heat damage, dont worry about a thick coated cat on a hot day they know what to do, go in the shade and relax :P
