Why do they need to store seeds? i know what is due to happen to earth but why store them ?? seeds require only to be moved away from the host and they will do the rest themselves , they will inevitably land on soil sooner or later and they wont drown either so why store them ? i think this is more sinister then you realize . I think we are approaching the stage where only another advanced civilisation could wipe us out, its like global warming, we cannot make a dent in the atmosphere it is simply too big and established. Nuclear bombs are detonated by humans thus humans will not detonate enough of them to destroy Earth. Earth is very tough and durable, and it heals.

The operational costs are paid for by several different countries and the Gates trust. It is powered by locally mined coal, and there are no on-site staff, making operational costs insignificant.
People do not need to have something to gain, some people are simply misinformed.

I googled info about this place and it amazed me The reason that they keep all kinds of seeds is that some types of wheat for example only flourish if there are certain plants nearby, etc..
