  • i can't believe the amount of people that come on your videos to argue with you, you did so much work on the videos! thanks for putting them up, they just have this awesome feeling to them with the music! sends chills down the spine.

sadly this was way before my time i was born in 85 so i would have only been 2.

  • @bteeuwen Thanks. I appreciate that. I don't look at it that way. People all have opinions and are free to share them as long as they are not vulgar or insulting. I enjoy a good discussion on the subject so it does not bother me.

Only 2? Sadly you missed the best playoff series ever played IMO. Hopefully you watched them in order. It really was like a Rocky movie. Edmonton was just AWESOME, the heart the Flyers showed was amazing and Hextall's performance was truly unbelievable to witness.

  • The Flyers deserve a lot of credit for pushing this series to 7 games, and also for winning Game 3 though they fell behind 3-0, plus there's no doubt that not having Kerr hurt them. Having said that, if you watch vast portions of the games you'll see that Edmonton imposed their will on Philly much more than vice-versa, and if not for Hextall they would've probably lost in 5. Let's not kid ourselves for one second here: the better team won the series. I'd like to hear one Flyer fan admit that.

  • @dzanier I am a Flyers fan and the better team won the series. How's that? I really doubt you would find ANY Flyers fans that would deny that Edmonton was the better team. After all, they have 6 Hall of Famers to the Flyers 0. 7 if you count Coach Sather. They are the best team ever assembled IMO.

I COULD make the argument that the Flyers deserved the cup more that year but that is unfortunately not how Championships are decided.

I don't disagree with anything else you said.

  • Sorry for the multiple posts. Nothing was showing up and then BAM there they all are after like 10 attempts. YouTube sucks like that sometimes!

  • Ron will always be known as HACKSTALL after this game.

  • Where's the part of the video where a Fan tries to take a swing at Edmonton Coach Glen Sather after this game? Typical Philly Fan being the Crybaby!

  • First of all what part of that has ANYTHING to do with the game itself or the players?

Second of all it happens EVERYWHERE. Not just Philly. Last year when the Flyers defeated Washington, as Jeff Carter was giving an on ice interview a Caps "fan" threw a bottle at him narrowly missing his head. So don't pretend it never happens where you may be from. it absolutely does. Less is just made of it.

  • First of all, it has plenty to do with the Game, since ESPN has displayed that kind of Obscurity to a National, and possibly, A Universal Audience as well.

And secondly DaveTV2 "Mr. Philadelphia", I live in Los Angeles. And in all the years I have lived in this city, outside of the Raider Fans, NEVER have I seen a King, a Laker, or a Dodger Game where Fans would throw any kind of objects at opposing Players. The People in Los Angeles have too much class to ever think of stooping that low!

  • Of course, Silly me. If it were not for that guy in the stands the outcome of the game would have been ENTIRELY different! He had NOTHING to do with that game, how it was played OR the outcome which is what the video was meant to highlight. Don't be an idiot! Secondly, it is obvious from the video it was a local broadcast and was not taped from ESPN.

Finally, The bottle was just an example of how fans everywhere can behave. if you do not think it applies to LA fans then again, you are an idiot!

  • Just sent you some links of examples of how L.A. fans are NO better than anywhere else, but in case you choose not to read them here are the headlines:

    1. Link to a video "Lakers Fans Throw Bottles at LAPD "

    2. "Fan dies after fight at Angels game"

    3. "Galaxy boss Bruce Arena tells fans to behave themselves after David Beckham abuse"

Want some more? Yea, right fans in L.A. are simply angels and NEVER "stoop so low" as a Philly Fan. LOL! Wake up!

  • I saw them, thank you very much. I really don't give a Damn about David Beckham. He is more European than he is an Angelino, and his Heart was in Italy.

The Rioting Laker Fans? You think that all we do in Los Angeles is just riot? Oh yeah, good touch. Everybody riots. And besides, if they were true Laker Fans they would have stayed home and celebrated instead of taking their emotions to the Streets.

By the way, I can't find the Angel Game Video. Was it a Dodger Fan that killed him?

  • Well if you saw them then you should not deny that it happens and pretend it is only Philly fans. Where Beckham is from or where his heart is does not excuse the behavior and is besides the point.

I never said that all LA does is riot. The link was sent to prove to you that it is NOT so far below an LA fan to throw a bottle at a player OR a police officer. Again it is an example to prove that it DOES happen in LA contrary to what you said! LA fans are NO better than Philly fans! Point made!

  • Los Angeles classy? those raiders fan epitomize class, lol.

  • Yeah, I know. And those "Classy Fans" went back to Oakland with the Raiders. Did they not? Raiders Suck! And their Hardcore Fans are huge Assholes!

Who was the Mother Fucked that bit the Ear off of the Charger Fan?

  • this sounds like the music from the dark knight, did u get from there?

  • That would be correct. Good ear.

  • Oh the guys in front of him shouldn't get off the hook for this game either. Hextall wasn't horrible the whole series, but this game 4 he was not at his best and neither was his team. They laid an egg on home ice, which really deminished their chances at bringing home the cup. It wouldn't be fair to give Hextall no blaime at all either. The team did the unthinkable and forced game 7 to make things interesting..largely due to the play of their goaltender. But this was the critical game here.

  • That statement is a bit more fair. Hextall did not have is best game in game 4 but he was also far from "horrible". The Oilers were all over them from the drop of the puck and that is completely evident in this video.

Any loss in a playoff series, especially when you are already down 2-1 is going to "diminish your chances" That kind of goes without saying. But you can point to a variety of other reasons for the playoff loss as well. To me, their performance in game 7 is MUCH more apparent.

  • This was Hextall's worst game of the series, and this is the one they needed if they had any realistic hopes of winning the cup. Losing this game forced them have to steel 2 games in Edmonton. It was ubelievable how the Flyers infront of Hextall's play rallied back and forced game 7. But you didn't actually believe Edmonton was going to lose 2 in Edmonton, did you? This was the game that pretty much insured the flyers fate.

  • I would not disagree that by comparison to the other 6 that this was Hextall's worst game of the series. But to say he was "horrible" is not even close to fair or accurate. Again, look at the chances he faced and the amount of difficult saves he DID make. The game was indeed important so the question is, why did the team play so poorly in front of him? You can't pinpoint this as being the only reason for the series loss. It was WAY to close in the end to say that with any degree of certainty.

  • This is the Game where the Flyers lost the series....they didn't take advantage of home ice. The only one where Hextall was horrible.

  • OMG. "Hextall was horrible"? Did you even watch the video? Please go back an not only take a look at the amount of point blank and breakaway saves he MADE but look at the goals that were scored. 1 Kurri point blank in the slot, 2 Kevin Lowe left wide open in front of the net for a tap in. 3 Gregg PP goal right in front of the net. 4 Krushelnyski breakaway!

Was it Hextall's best game? No. but what it showed was what the rest of the series would have been like without him playing out of his mind.

  • It is very naive to just look at the scoreboard and blame the goalie. The TEAM was "horrible" in front of him. Simply saying Hextall was horrible is a gross overstatement.

The Flyers did not lose the series in this game. They lost it in game 7 with a poor effort If they were to have won this game do you think the Oilers would have been as over confident as they were in game 5 up 3-1? No. So it is safe to say they probably would have won that game putting them in the same situation in game 6!

  • Gretzky schooling anyone who doubles him. Lethal at finding the open player. Too good. Hextall could have played in any era, and flyers D was as good as any.

  • cheating canadians bullying again.

    Kent Nilsson > all

  • I remember that after game 4, a fan in the Philadelphia Spectrum slapped Oilers coach Glen Sather across the face.

  • great work. any news on a DVD of this series.

  • No news that I have ever heard of. Closest thing is Game 6 is on the DVD set of Flyers 10 greatest games and game 7 is part of the Greatest Moments in Stanley Cup History Game 7 DVD collection.

That was part of my motivation in creating these that someone might realize what a great set it would be. Aside from all the drama, just seeing Gretzky, Messier, Kurri and the Oilers in their prime should be reason enough to buy it!

Spread the word! Stranger things have happened because of YouTube!

  • Dave, this video is unbelievable as well. Great work! The music again is so perfect for each action sequence.

  • Thanks for all the comments. Glad you appreciate them.

Yes, I tried to find music that fit the mood of the game or situation. Again it is all kind of from the Flyer's perspective. Given that was where the announcers were from, I am not sure it would have worked the other way around. Anyway, I kind of felt that if this was a Hollywood movie the Flyers would be the heros of the story given they were the underdogs not expected to win anyway. Kind of like Rocky or the 1980 USA Hockey team.

  • I dont even think Hextall hurt Nilsson that bad. He was able to get up without much effort. He WASN'T taken off with a stretcher. So it was the right call by the ref to give a 5-minute major for slashing instead of that with a match penalty. I thought the Oilers were buzzing all night on Hextall, who was so so fed up he finally took liberaties with Nilsson. He mistoke Nilsson for Anderson probably because they both wore the same CCM helmet. Hexy was all fired up too because of the score.

  • I agree. When you look at it, he does not even really hit him all that hard. I think it certainly looked a lot worse than it was. Nevertheless, it was uncalled for... ENTERTAINING as hell but uncalled for! Given that it was in the finals he deserved something for it. 8 games was a little much when you consider some of the other stick work that was going on. I am not sure he though it was Anderson though. He just hit the next closest player in blue. DEFINITELY about the score and the series.

  • a great move by Hextall. That's sending a message! I would have done the same. Hockey is not ballet.
