Although dissecting Cats is gross and graphic but people need to understand that local animal shelters donate them when they die of natural causes (not the ones they put down). many of them are a result of being hit by cars and cancer and etc... high school dissect them to learn about muscle tissues and organ placement, just like when you dissect a frog. My high school dissected cats. It was very difficult and heart breaking but you end up learning a lot about the animal is the process.

Oh wow, I live in Australia and if there was even the notion of dissecting cats there would be uproar. We only ever got to dissect sheep hearts which wasn't compulsory and if people didn't feel comfortable in the class they were allowed to join another class for that period. It's interesting to see how completely different it is!
