My Mom adopted from a rescue group as well when the person that ran the group found she didn't like my mom after getting the money they waited a few months then came to my mothers house assaulted her and my stepfather took the dogs back and the police did nothing. my mother even several years later has nerve damage from the assault i know these groups can do good but why do they never get checked on their behavior

i agree that children are not good caretakers of pets. and i wish more organizations would have these rules. i won't put an exact age, but most children forget to feed them, or squeeze them too hard or thousands of other things completely out of innocence. Yeah I understand the whole contract thing and having to follow the rules, but the truth is this. My mom rescued dogs and sent them to loving homes. The contract is just a personal contract. Therefore it wouldn't be that hard to make an exception. Just inspect the freakin house and say yes! All they have to do is sign papers. It's so easy... and this woman is being purposely difficult with Ellen. I would say I hope no one takes dogs from her again but that's unfair to the pups.
