So here we are a year and a half later and it's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the Obama and his administration have been only effective at increasing our national debt. The latest misguided solution seems that the Fed might buy more government debt.
@rkoliver1 Obama was behind the stimulus when Bush was in office and helped push it through. I'm not saying it was entirely his idea, but he was behind it all along. Bush was under a lot of pressure from Obama and his co-conspirators to push it through.
@taylor22222222 - Sure the US Constitution wasn't 1,400 pages long. However, what does that even mean, especially in this context? Ask yourself, how many people, how much central government and how much infrastructure was there in place when the constitution was written. Do you think it was ever meant to cover every aspect of government? So comparing the length of one document to another is pointless, yet it is a factual statement, who can argue with that. Yes, you're right. Feel better?
Who are you to say something is unnecessary. In a free society, people can buy the things they want/need. If you are concerned about job losses and the shift of the American economy from a production based one to a consumer/service based one then perhaps you will agree with me that we should help make America as attractive as possible for businness by lowering their taxes and regulations and cutting government across the board so that capital can be freed up for productive uses.
auditthepolls- What new "system" do you want? Let me guess, it will involve government using force to take private property from some and giving it to others. Great idea, I was just thinking the other day that our gov is not powerful enough already.
True. The fired worker will probably have to go into sales. Creating a market Making more consumers. Selling unnecessary things to people who previously didn't need or want them. When it works, you get a society with few values other than advertising. When it doesn't, like now, you end up with rich and poor.
When did rich people give their money away? And how did it fail?
We have a system now where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. That needs to change.
Ya'll are way off anyway. Banks don't loan money. They never have. It's YOUR signature on the note that creates the funding for the "loan". The bank then makes you sign an agreement making you a "tenant" in the home that you exchanged the note for and paying the tax (the bank calls it principle) on YOUR note that the bank lists as an asset on its books. The whole thing is a scam! Politics is engaged in Black Magic Rituals designed to subjugate the human race to perpetual debt slavery. It's true.
Dont miss the point....American's DO need jobs...but the economy is what NEEDS the money...and the best way to stimulate the economy is thru people spending it....not by CEO'S redecorating, taking large undeserved bonus' and throwing huge parties! If the Gov is giving out this money anyway...If the Gov really wants to fix the economy and SAVE the USA then they would give it to the people and not the CEO's!
MONEY TO THE PEOPLE...... screw the stimulus plan or giving the bail out money to ANY Wall Street Co - Give the people the money, as they spend it it will fix economy, stop forclosures, get america out of debt, etc.
PLEASE join my protest to the Bail out and answer 1 question on camera: "How would you spend $297,000 dollars?" - That is the amount of BAIL OUT money given to the people....C'MON AMERICA, JOIN US IN TELLING THE GOV HOW WE COULD FIX THIS ECONOMY!....... The Fight Isnt Over YET!!
No, the system currently makes tremendous money, but distributes it via capital gains which are constantly growing and wages which are constantly shrinking due to automation and globalization. It may take a century, but given the trend, we'll all be working for one person, or starving.
You speak in meaningless buzzwords. Just admit that you have no justification behind the claim that money is NOT a symbol for productivity, but, instead, is some sort of amorphous figure that represents a group of individuals taking advantage of another.
I could make your argument for you, but It'll be more fun seeing you stumble through it.
A basic retort is that the stock market has plummeted, so "capital gains" are a completely moot point.
OK, you prefer 'great wealth is created'? I didn't think it was complicated. Your linguistic contortions don't hide your refusal to consider the distribution of wealth. You apparently think the only way is via jobs. This works well for the rich who don't have to work, and pay as little as possible to those who do to detail their cars.
The stock market is not the only generator of capital gains.
Americans are getting poorer using the current system, and will continue to, except for the top 5%.
How does the guy just replaced on the assembly line benefit from the efficiency of being replaced by a machine? The only ones benefiting are the owners of the machine, and the builder of the machine [once]. The worker's unemployed. While he may eventually find work, it is a job destroyed permanently.
As jobs vanish, a new way of distribution of wealth is called for. Profit's goal is the elimination of labor costs [jobs] To have a market for goods, the public needs money, not low wage jobs.
The individual on the assembly line obviously does not, immediately, benefit from his job becoming obsolete. He'll need to find another job
This makes jobs that require human contact more and more relevant. The worker will have to find another way for people to value what he does. In the meantime, prices go down, so, ideally, he wouldn't have to earn as much.
To just "give" money to people, in spite of their interaction, has, historically, failed.
Only about 2% of the monies are going to help right away. Then in about 13 months another 13% to help Americans. This was supposed to be so important and there was such a rush to get it pushed thru? Why, if not to help Americans? Could it be just a diversion for the socialist programs tacked on at the last minute??
To me the stimulus is more about leftist politics than the actual economy. The leftist will have a field day on implementing their socialist policies.
perhaps I am naive, but what would happen if the people that made bad business choices were allowed to go under? The banks and the car makers. And the people that have made good business choices were encouraged to produce goods in America for Americans and to export to countries that import our goods at the same level. And we quit bringing in beef from Canada and lamb from N.Z., etc so we could create jobs for Americans making goods at home. Small business is good for this country. Just an idea.
Imagine if the money were used to pay off student loans. Educated people would buy cars and houses, and would be able to start new businesses. Instead, it's going to give stupid jobs to stupid people. More welfare.
''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.'' 2003 - NYT
5 years later - Catastophe in the housing market - 60% of homeowners are upside down,
This video is a really weak effort. Video clips from an unrelated movie juxtaposed with headlines of right-wing op-eds. CONVINCING!
I get the sense that you people would obstruct Obama if he tried to pass the 2+2=4 Act of 2009. You'd make some silly argument about how it's really 3 or 5.
The creator of this vid needs to move out of his parents' basement. Sarah Palin would agree with the message of this youtube, but she would still call you a loser for making it!!!
The video is not at all unrelated. They solved the Apollo 13 problem by understanding the true underlying danger. For them it was power, not oxygen or time.. For the economy it is about getting good mortgages in place of bad ones. All problems start and end with fixing the housing market, which means turning bad borrowers back into renters and getting good borrowers into houses. We have to re-capitalize the housing market, and the only way to do that is to get people with money to buy them.
Actually the LA times wrote a glowing news article on the stimulus plan. I'm guessing you cherry-picked an op-ed by a right-winger like Jonah Goldberg. Nice try, lightweight.
What a moron you are. The 2 op-eds you cite actually are pretty favorable to the stimulus overall. Maybe you should have read past the title.
"Among the final bill's provisions are several with a strong record of stimulating spending, such as extended unemployment benefits and increased investments in highways and public transit. We also welcome farsighted proposals for promoting broadband Internet access, high-speed rail and a modernized electrical grid."
Yeah a headline like "Too Little In Return For Stimulus Bill" is positive...you must be insane.
Sure they find something NOT to hate. Wow! Republicans agree with about 40% of it too. I agree with what they wrote in the paragraph you quoted, those parts are legit. 60% of it is waste, and that happens to be $600B including interest. The editorial is clear in stating this bill is deeply flawed. Only an automaton would read it differently. You are embarassing yourself...badly.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Op-Ed #2:
"And because there's no time-tested formula to follow, we're not offended by the balance struck by Democrats."
Maybe you should check your own literacy level before hurling insults. All you do is flash the title, knowing that your mindless followers won't bother with/understand the nuance contained in the actual article. They just feed on the propaganda.
Google this: Economic stimulus money will reach nearly all. That's an LA Times piece, but with facts, not opinions.
Another wonderful video. Hope people stay with it for the entire 10:50. You might want to put out a another shorter version with a summary of the last few minutes for those with very short attention spans - like our Congressional leadership.
You are right on the money again as usual. Thank you for taking the time to make these. You Do make a difference. We must all do our part during these next four years. This is your way of making a difference! I am starting in my community doing whatever I can to get people not to vote for our congressman next time and our Senator, Claire McKaskill (The Devil's sidekick) is up for another vote in 2010 and I am doing everything I need to to get her out of there!
Citizens of the US and world who believe in Freedom Liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Wake up!, our country is being enslaved to Marxists with just a few votes! It doesn't matter who you are or where you are from you can make a difference in your community. Dark times are ahead and maybe a new dark age. If we let a few people tell us how to live, instead of us telling the few how we want to live our lives, then we deserve our misery.
Obama is so smart he could fix the problem... but he won't... he needs the country in crisis, he needs everyone desperate and needy to ram his socialist agenda through... Obama doing whats best for America?? Don't count on it.... the germans, the cubans, the cambodians, the vietanmese thought to themselves "that won't happen to us" ... its how dictatorships happen... read some history.
Love the video! It shows who really is running our country! I honestly can't stand to see the same old democratic B S and it really pisses me off seeing that Americans voted for it! Oh, I'm sorry! They voted for "Change". Can someone please tell me what that change was? It looks like the same shit to me!
This country is going down the drain fast. Leave it to Obama, Pelosi and Reid. Wow what great leaders we have (notta) Pelosi says she believes in prevention. Someone should have prevented her from being born.... There ya go
Steve Forbes was saying on Scarboroughs radio show yesterday that the Fed should lower *employment* taxes. That would give more incentive to companies to bring in new hires. But the demonrats wouldnt have any of that because they want free money.
There you go again TheMouthPeace, trying to apply common sense and facts to this "Stimulus" Bill, what many can't seem to understand, is this bill never was about fixing the problem. It's about keeping Democrats in power, and expanding their power. This bill with interest is about $1.2 Trillion, if it saves 4 million jobs that is $300,000 per job. But again, it's not about saving jobs, it's about winning votes.
...and CBO's estimate is that it is 1.2 million on the low end and 3.6 million on the high end. The CBO is always optimistic. They said Social Security would be $100 billion a year...it is 5X that amount. We will be lucky if this temporarily saves 1 million jobs.
They also said this hurts growth over the long run. So we are stealing our kids money to make the economy worse for them when they need a job. Tell me how this is being "progressive"? Somebody, please...
America has a new crew in the cockpit and they're flipping all the wrong switches!! It's going to be a long hell ride and could end more like Columbia!
Obamawill2008 is your typical Obama supporter. 20 years old and probably sitting home all day and typing on the computer that Mommy and Daddy bought. Obamawill2008 has probably never had a real job. Obamawill2008 will eventually get a job and pay taxes. At that point, maybe anyone will give a damn about Obamawill2008's opinion. Right now, I doubt anyone does.
obamawill is a 20 year old university student majoring in historyand possibly writing. i had several summer jobs that enabled me to buy my computer. never asked m&p for computer money. right now you responded. you must care.
Bacon! Bacon, bacon, bacon, bacon, bacon!!!!!! ROFLMAO. My stomach no longer hurts from extreme disappointment. It hurts from bust-a-gut laughter (even tho this is no laughing matter)!
I guess it's too late now; but I wish more people would listen and learn rather than being led by empty "hope" and "change" mantras.
It looks like a done deal and inflation is going to hurt bigtime. It's so depressing... not economic outlook alone.. the fact that so many Americans are absolutely ignorant to what is really going on.
Nothing will revive the US economy. All engines are out and the USA is in crash and burn mode. The machinations of government are "busy work" and will actually hasten the demise of the US. The USA has failing organs, terminal cancer and the prognosis is death. The Congress is comic relief for the debt slaves or at least a diversion until the country flatlines. So let's party.
They can buy a foreclosed home. I say that any buyer of a foreclosed home should get a tax credit. This will focus the market on buying foreclosures first. We don't want to be giving out big tax credits to people selling one house to buy another, that does not help clear housing inventory or bring new buyers into the market. People who are not first time buyers can buy one of the 900,00 foreclosed homes on the market right now.
It does not give anything directly to the banks. It gives money to those people so they can buy the homes that are sitting empty. That will help those who are trying to sell their homes by removing the foreclosures from the market, so they can get a better price for their home.
Raising home values out of the gutter helps anyone who owns a home because it increases the value of their house. The main reason most people are not spending is because their homes have plummeted in value.
Well, it is $7500 and it is not a true credit, you have to pay it back at a rate of $500 a year. I do not know anyone you would by a home on the basis of a $7500 loan...
True. The only people who should be getting loan modifications are people who are temporarily unemployed. Put their mortgage on hold for a year. When they get a job, the loan should go back to normal.
Obama wants to have the Fed give low income people a permanent discount for making bad decisions. That is just stealing from responsible people and giving to irresponsible people.
All loan modification should be temporary...paying for my house is enough, I don't want to pay for deadbeats.
WRONG. If I spend $1 it has to come from somewhere...right? It comes from people saving who invest in Treasury Bonds. If they were not saving in Treasury bonds they would be buying other bonds, like corporate bonds, which also get spent. Spending only moves $1 from one pile to a different pile. If at the end of that spending you do not have an asset that helps create new jobs, like a road, power plant, etc. you have just crowded out spending that would have happened anyway. Take Econ 101.
Your problem is that you did take Econ. 101. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Especially in the mind of a fucking idiot. It doesn't really matter though. Come this weekend, your side will have lost. You have no political voice anymore.
What is with the "we"? Unless your title is Senator, Congressman or Mr. President, you are just some dude hurling insults on Youtube. That puts you pretty well down the food chain by my estimation...
If amateur hour continues, in about 21 months you are going to be losing a lot of seats in the House...
Bush lost by spending too much, so you thing Obama will win by spending WAY too much?
Haha! If you think Bush lost because he spent too much, you're a bigger mouthpiece than I thought. Come 21 months we will continue to increase our majority in both the house and the senate.
BO got elected knowing the voters."A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." So keep on rolling your eyes! This is the reason McCain lost!
So youre agreeing with my original statement that American voters are idiots? If anyone can get played by an idiot elitist who has never worked a hard day in his life like BO they have to be pretty stupid themselves. Meanwhile McCain was at least trying to be honest. By claiming that McCain was 'an unelectable rhino' you pretty much cast your vote for BO a socialist who is paving the way to communism. Are you that stupid that you recognize that you are contradicting yourself?
The only thing you are proving with what youve written with this response is that you want to reinforce your paranoia, and eventually your paranoia becomes a self-fulling prophecy. Your kind didnt vote for McCain because you want to make sure that the commitment you made years ago to the unfounded fears of the collapse of America comes true. Because thats all you have to go on in life right now. And thats just dumb.
Sorry, I'm a lot of things, but liberal I'm not! Yes, Americans are idiots, and you are too! You refuse to face reality! I voted for McCain, and yes I once shared your views, but no more. The lesser of two evils still leave you with a evil, and is a flawed argument in electing a President. Both party's are taking us to Socialist Hell! One by train, and the other by Jet...you figure it out.
McCain would have at least listened to the voice of the America people. BO is an elitist cocksucking snob who never worked a hard day in his life. How do you not see the vast differences between the two?
With all due respect your wrong! McCain spent more time supporting the Democrat agenda, then the Republican. He would have been overwhelmingly accommodation with the Demwitts, just to show he's willing to cross party lines i.e. appeasement!
McCain-Feingold, and McCain/Kennedy, and McCain/Lieberman, are just a few reason McCain is a true Rhino!
Mc/Ken and Mc/Leib ok I can go along with that. But McCain/Fiendgold? I'veheardthat argument many times. How was that an encroachment on our rights? That was designed to limit financial contributions to individuals running for office. Yes, he was/is willing to appease to the dems, that is a fault I wont argue. But the man ran a campaign with 'promises' the American people could have held me accountable to. Now I know a politicians 'promise' isnt worth the paper its written on. But it wa
If I were to go futher back in time I would say that BO being elected into office is G-d way of punishing Americans for having denied McCain the presidency in 2000. The southern Republican conservatives back then tore him apart and wouldnt give him what he deserves. But instead they gave the thumbs up to Bush.
Great comments here! Why do you think he is distancing himself from all this? He wants to be able to say that he was unaware of all the BS in it. This makes him a dangerous idiot! Soon, he and his nose, will not fit in the oval office!
He needs to go....soon! I'm waiting for a patriot, before he kills us, and our country!
Thanks, great video!! 5*, fav'd shared and featured on my channel.
did anyone hear all the socialists that asked him for shit yesterday in Florida?? Henrietta asked for a kitchen, car. Another guy asked for more money thru unemployment. Another dude jose asks him for a new job, complaining he has worked at mcdonalds for 4 years.
obamawill2008 is just your typical liberal. Blame Bush for everything, Obama is infallible. If Bush did it, its bad. If Obama does the exact same thing, its the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you really think there is a profound difference between the Republicrats & Demlicans, you are shrooming.
Taxing people right now will cripple the economy even more. The Community Reinvestment Act changes in 95 & the FED caused this problem, not those greedy capitalists who give you a job.
I am a big believer in the pendulum effect. Yes it is bad now and it will only get worse, but eventually there will be an upswing. America has gone through this before and we will no doubt go through it again in the future. We just got to survive this bonehead faker who is our president.
I agree, we are innovative at ways of getting around government. That said, in the 1970s it was one recession after another due to government intrusion. The silver lining in all of this is that if this porkfest is going to pass, it is a sure-fire double-dip recession. The spending dries up in 2011 just as the inflation will hit and push all of those Alt-A adjustable mortgages into default. If Obama is going to create his own recession, it may as well be in 2011-2012.
Fera mongering & Ideology? Did the toilet just call the tub "white"? You should actually read what MouthPeace writes while watching his videos. You never know - you might actually learn something. Then again some people drink from the fountain of wisdom whereas little people like you just gargle a little. Have a nice day!
That is rich, considering Obama has gone from Mr. Hopenchange to Mr. Doomengloom in about 2 weeks. Every day he says we are facing a catastrophe if we wait a week to get a better bill.
Ever hear the phrase "go slow to go fast" or "measure twice, cut once"?
I just want our children's money to be spent on actually fixing the problem, not for political payoffs.
Liberals want to spend our children's money on STD programs and Gov't cars that wear out in 5 years. You call that progressive! HAHA.
i'd like to see our countries schools modernized. our roads and bridges repaired, our public transportation system brought into the 21st century. and would you rather spend money on s.t.d. prevention instead of greater money to cure it
"would you rather spend money on s.t.d. prevention instead of greater money to cure it"
I'd rather the government let me decide, and not call this what it is; Obama's spending spree. He's got a new toy, and he want's to juice everything he can out of it.
we have taxes to pay for roads and bridges at the local and state level NOT THE FED. The same for schools if they are not Modern Maybe you should be bitching at your local goverment
Let homeowners who are current with their payment do a rate and term refi at 4% through Fannie/Freddie. On a typical $200K mortgage, it would put $5K back in homeowners pockets to be spent, saved or invested. Charge minimal closing costs, no appraisal, not a bunch of paperwork (remember this is for homeowners that are current), this would create a pool of good borrowers that could be sold to investors. Your video has some good, positive suggestions to solve the housing crisis, good job.
That can be a good idea if it does not distort credit markets. It has been written about a lot in the press and I was running out of time so I did not include it.
so with all the money our government has thrown around through the last bank bailout and now this one, they could have given every taxpaying citizen almost $10,000 to spend on whatever they wanted, or save... how would this not have stimulated the economy better than what they are trying to do now? People would have paid off debt, saved their home from foreclosure, bought stuff, or given it to the bank by putting it in savings or investing...then the banks could have money to lend.
All we need to do is fix the housing market and the economy will fix itself. Now, as a result of money being sucked up with government debt, there will be less money invested in buying excess housing.
It will make it worse. It would literally be just as good for the government to buy houses and pay people to torch them. In both cases you have spent a lot of money with nothing to show for it, but at least one helps correct the housing oversupply which is at the root of our economic problems.
To the Creator of this post. It's, "You're" not, "Your". Let me give you an example: "nsa5015, you're stupid!" Thank you for your (Properly used here) support.
The 2009 Stimulus bill isn't so much a tax and spend program as it is a spend and tax program. The big taxes are coming, just wait and see. Remember that middle class income tax cut that Obama promised? GONE! It won't happen. Count on it.

what have the republicans been doing for the past 29 years, soaking the middle class and poor. promising folks security and some butter on credit,no i.o.u's necessary(trust us). give huge tax breaks to the rich, huge sums of money to defense contractors. big deals to big banksand wall st., gas, oil, nuclear. and screw the poor.
Wow, that is insightful commentary. Well argued. Tried what exactly?
Japan tried the Obama strategy and had a decade long recession. Oh, so did FDR and he had a decade long Depression.
Fiscal Stimulus only works if you are building long-lived capital assets like airports, rail lines, power grids, ports and economic infrastructure that produces economic value.
Refurbishing government buildings does nothing once the the building is refurbished. You still have unemployed workers at the end.
See there you go, why are all these 'fake wars'? What makes them so 'fake'? Are you going to tell me that drugs were never a societal problem? And youre one of those 9/11 truthers arent you?
Come on! Look at our Southern border and tell me how well the War on Drugs is doing! Mexico is on the verge of economic collapses now, because of drug cartels corrupting the government. Show me positive results on the War on Poverty? And no I'm not 9/11 truther! Oh, insulting me personal, doesn't help your debating skills.
War be any other definition is designed to galvanize the people for a profit of someone. Thunder drugs are a societal problem but bear in mind it remains a societal problem because it makes our political leaders very wealthy. please don't ask me to explain as it took me years of research to realize how the drug game is played.
Where did you get that information from? (Please don't say you saw it on youtube) If that's true, this is getting more serious. If there's a run on our bonds we're finished.
got that piece of information from the Telegraph - a british newspaper website (look under Ambrose Evans-Pritchard)
real scary times we are in
(and heck, a few months ago there was an electronic run on the US banks, in one hr about 500 billion flew out of the treasury - that link I got on youtube)
Thanks, I did a google search for "China sells US bonds", and found that the other day the Chinese treasury minister was threatening to sell US bonds if the US restricts trade with China. I don't trust everything I see on youtube, I like to verify info myself. If China starts dumping our bonds the dollar is going to devalue faster than Wall Street. The price of oil is going to skyrocket, again, and since gas is already going up, while oil is going down (?), I'm starting to stockpile stuff.
Stockpiling is always a good ideal! Never, ever depend on the government for anything! I have a 90 day supply of food now! And yes I cling to my firearms as well! Always be prepared!
"You know, if all we're doing is spending and we're not making things, then over time other countries are going to get tired of lending us money and eventually the party is going to be over. Well, in fact, the party now is over."
Listen to this. NASA spends "only" $16 billion a year for the satellites that return a lot more wealth.
With that being said, Obama's proposed energy plans will cost us $52 billion and there's no guarenteed ROR.
Can anyone else see the gouging? Where's the business model? How efficient is this? It's not, Obama is just throwing money at his sponsors, that thief.
He spends a lot of time talking about building the new "smart grid". This porkfest has $4.5 Billion for that, which is fine, except that to actually build the smart grid would require about $40 Billion.
At least the smart grid will be a long-lved capital asset that wil make electricity cheaper and employ a lot of idle construction workers.
It is one of the few good infrastructure ideas out there and they totally underfunded it to save government cattle (I mean employees).
You are going to have to take this site down or change your tune, because the economy is GROWING.

auditthepolls: This displays such a blatant misunderstanding of economics, I'm at a loss for words.
You've got to be joking.
caltrop69 2 years ago
No, the system currently makes tremendous money, but distributes it via capital gains which are constantly growing and wages which are constantly shrinking due to automation and globalization. It may take a century, but given the trend, we'll all be working for one person, or starving.
auditthepolls 2 years ago
The "system" makes "tremendous" money?
You speak in meaningless buzzwords. Just admit that you have no justification behind the claim that money is NOT a symbol for productivity, but, instead, is some sort of amorphous figure that represents a group of individuals taking advantage of another.
I could make your argument for you, but It'll be more fun seeing you stumble through it.
A basic retort is that the stock market has plummeted, so "capital gains" are a completely moot point.
caltrop69 2 years ago
OK, you prefer 'great wealth is created'? I didn't think it was complicated. Your linguistic contortions don't hide your refusal to consider the distribution of wealth. You apparently think the only way is via jobs. This works well for the rich who don't have to work, and pay as little as possible to those who do to detail their cars.
The stock market is not the only generator of capital gains.
Americans are getting poorer using the current system, and will continue to, except for the top 5%.
auditthepolls 2 years ago
Wow! You're all over the map. Let's narrow this down, for the purpose of discussion. I'll try to be a little bit more polite, too.
Your original contention is that "Americans don't need jobs, they need money."
Money and capital can't exist, but for the production of goods and services. Even natural resources need to be harvested.
It IS true that not everyone gets an equal share of the capital produced...We all benefit from efficiency, though.
caltrop69 2 years ago
How does the guy just replaced on the assembly line benefit from the efficiency of being replaced by a machine? The only ones benefiting are the owners of the machine, and the builder of the machine [once]. The worker's unemployed. While he may eventually find work, it is a job destroyed permanently.
As jobs vanish, a new way of distribution of wealth is called for. Profit's goal is the elimination of labor costs [jobs] To have a market for goods, the public needs money, not low wage jobs.
auditthepolls 2 years ago

Could it be just a diversion for the socialist programs tacked on at the last minute??

perhaps I am naive, but what would happen if the people that made bad business choices were allowed to go under? The banks and the car makers. And the people that have made good business choices were encouraged to produce goods in America for Americans and to export to countries that import our goods at the same level. And we quit bringing in beef from Canada and lamb from N.Z., etc so we could create jobs for Americans making goods at home. Small business is good for this country. Just an idea.

Imagine if the money were used to pay off student loans. Educated people would buy cars and houses, and would be able to start new businesses. Instead, it's going to give stupid jobs to stupid people. More welfare.

Obama authored the "2 + 2 = 5" Stimulus Plan and the Obamabots trip over themselves defending it. The only thing being "obstucted" is common sense.
PeteRFNY 2 years ago
The video is not at all unrelated. They solved the Apollo 13 problem by understanding the true underlying danger. For them it was power, not oxygen or time.. For the economy it is about getting good mortgages in place of bad ones. All problems start and end with fixing the housing market, which means turning bad borrowers back into renters and getting good borrowers into houses. We have to re-capitalize the housing market, and the only way to do that is to get people with money to buy them.
TheMouthPeace 2 years ago
Power = good mortgages. Got it.
ObamaWonKenobi 2 years ago
So the LA Times is a right wing op-ed paper? That is creative...
TheMouthPeace 2 years ago
Actually the LA times wrote a glowing news article on the stimulus plan. I'm guessing you cherry-picked an op-ed by a right-winger like Jonah Goldberg. Nice try, lightweight.
ObamaWonKenobi 2 years ago
No they did not. Google "The nation needs jobs, not a political agenda" and "Too Little In Return For Stimulus Plan".
Both are written by the editorial board, not an individual author. Are you literate? Try reading them...
TheMouthPeace 2 years ago
What a moron you are. The 2 op-eds you cite actually are pretty favorable to the stimulus overall. Maybe you should have read past the title.
"Among the final bill's provisions are several with a strong record of stimulating spending, such as extended unemployment benefits and increased investments in highways and public transit. We also welcome farsighted proposals for promoting broadband Internet access, high-speed rail and a modernized electrical grid."
ObamaWonKenobi 2 years ago
Yeah a headline like "Too Little In Return For Stimulus Bill" is positive...you must be insane.
Sure they find something NOT to hate. Wow! Republicans agree with about 40% of it too. I agree with what they wrote in the paragraph you quoted, those parts are legit. 60% of it is waste, and that happens to be $600B including interest. The editorial is clear in stating this bill is deeply flawed. Only an automaton would read it differently. You are embarassing yourself...badly.

This comment has received too many negative votes show

SmithFamilyLoft 2 years ago
...and CBO's estimate is that it is 1.2 million on the low end and 3.6 million on the high end.

If they really want to stimulate the Real Estate Market....
They should offer that Tax Credit to everyone who buys a Home [to live in]...not just the "First-time Buyers".
SeekerNLife 3 years ago
They can buy a foreclosed home. I say that any buyer of a foreclosed home should get a tax credit. This will focus the market on buying foreclosures first. We don't want to be giving out big tax credits to people selling one house to buy another, that does not help clear housing inventory or bring new buyers into the market. People who are not first time buyers can buy one of the 900,00 foreclosed homes on the market right now.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
But, TheMouthPeace, doesn't your idea just reward the Banks?
What about the people who are living on tuna fish & peanut butter, and haven't defaulted, but have their homes for sale?
What about the people who are looking for a little larger home in order to accomodate an elderly parent?
How about giving a break to people who work hard and pay their taxes, and aren't living beyond their means?
Your proposal seems highly discriminatory to me.
SeekerNLife 2 years ago
It does not give anything directly to the banks. It gives money to those people so they can buy the homes that are sitting empty. That will help those who are trying to sell their homes by removing the foreclosures from the market, so they can get a better price for their home.
Raising home values out of the gutter helps anyone who owns a home because it increases the value of their house. The main reason most people are not spending is because their homes have plummeted in value.
TheMouthPeace 2 years ago
I was working on my taxes today...
And I noticed a line which said:
"Credit for first time home purchase"
So....1st time homebuyers are already getting a Tax Credit?
[I didn't look up how much that would be, I was already getting a headache just reading up on what applied to me.]
SeekerNLife 2 years ago

Hey retards: a stimulus bill just is a bill with lots of spending. The spending IS the stimulus.
TheCondor24 3 years ago
yeah but you still have to spend it wisely,
yury2268 3 years ago
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
Your problem is that you did take Econ. 101. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Especially in the mind of a fucking idiot. It doesn't really matter though. Come this weekend, your side will have lost. You have no political voice anymore.

arubberball 2 years ago
Oh ok, that explains why BO was a far more electable option (rolls eyes).
ThunderAppeal 2 years ago
BO got elected knowing the voters."A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." So keep on rolling your eyes! This is the reason McCain lost!
arubberball 2 years ago 3
So youre agreeing with my original statement that American voters are idiots? If anyone can get played by an idiot elitist who has never worked a hard day in his life like BO they have to be pretty stupid themselves. Meanwhile McCain was at least trying to be honest. By claiming that McCain was 'an unelectable rhino' you pretty much cast your vote for BO a socialist who is paving the way to communism. Are you that stupid that you recognize that you are contradicting yourself?
ThunderAppeal 2 years ago 4
The only thing you are proving with what youve written with this response is that you want to reinforce your paranoia, and eventually your paranoia becomes a self-fulling prophecy. Your kind didnt vote for McCain because you want to make sure that the commitment you made years ago to the unfounded fears of the collapse of America comes true. Because thats all you have to go on in life right now. And thats just dumb.

It says, "Existing Inventory," but in the fine print at the bottom it says "1982 through July 2008."
Is it me or has July not happened yet? Or am I wrong?
GenericDefaultEntity 3 years ago
it is currently Feb 2009... so yes, July 2008 has happened already.

its now 2009 so yes you are wrong.

Apparently you are ignoring All of history. This is the same old spend and tax garbage. Did you pay attention to any of it?
ka7krz 3 years ago 3

This comment has received too many negative votes show
what have the republicans been doing for the past 29 years, soaking the middle class and poor. promising folks security and some butter on credit,no i.o.u's necessary(trust us). give huge tax breaks to the rich, huge sums of money to defense contractors. big deals to big banksand wall st., gas, oil, nuclear. and screw the poor.
obamawill2008 3 years ago
George Bush cut middle class taxes while Clinton raised them.
You believe everything you are told, don't you! How do you soak the poor, exactly? They pay no taxes as it is, and they used to under Clinton.
Bush moved more people off the tax rolls than any President in history. I actually think that was a mistake, but facts are facts.
You need to realize that you are being sold to by politicians.
We already soak the rich, to pay for these deficits--it will be the middle class.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
if the rich can buy baubles and lexuses like those in vanity fair than they aren't taxed enough! the bill is due and has accumulated interest
obamawill2008 3 years ago
Wow, that is insightful commentary. Well argued. Tried what exactly?
Japan tried the Obama strategy and had a decade long recession. Oh, so did FDR and he had a decade long Depression.
Fiscal Stimulus only works if you are building long-lived capital assets like airports, rail lines, power grids, ports and economic infrastructure that produces economic value.
Refurbishing government buildings does nothing once the the building is refurbished. You still have unemployed workers at the end.

#3 create a fake war to make it appear to threaten a formidable enemy?
War on Terrorism,War on Drugs, or the War on Poverty! Which War are you referring to?
arubberball 2 years ago
See there you go, why are all these 'fake wars'? What makes them so 'fake'? Are you going to tell me that drugs were never a societal problem? And youre one of those 9/11 truthers arent you?
ThunderAppeal 2 years ago
Come on! Look at our Southern border and tell me how well the War on Drugs is doing! Mexico is on the verge of economic collapses now, because of drug cartels corrupting the government. Show me positive results on the War on Poverty? And no I'm not 9/11 truther! Oh, insulting me personal, doesn't help your debating skills.
arubberball 2 years ago 2
War be any other definition is designed to galvanize the people for a profit of someone. Thunder drugs are a societal problem but bear in mind it remains a societal problem because it makes our political leaders very wealthy. please don't ask me to explain as it took me years of research to realize how the drug game is played.

Its ok, the end is almost here (china is starting to sell their US Treasury Bonds - over 190 Billion over the last 15 weeks)
lordgaladedrid 3 years ago 2
Where did you get that information from? (Please don't say you saw it on youtube) If that's true, this is getting more serious. If there's a run on our bonds we're finished.
MichaelJacebson 3 years ago
got that piece of information from the Telegraph - a british newspaper website (look under Ambrose Evans-Pritchard)
real scary times we are in
(and heck, a few months ago there was an electronic run on the US banks, in one hr about 500 billion flew out of the treasury - that link I got on youtube)
lordgaladedrid 3 years ago
Thanks, I did a google search for "China sells US bonds", and found that the other day the Chinese treasury minister was threatening to sell US bonds if the US restricts trade with China. I don't trust everything I see on youtube, I like to verify info myself. If China starts dumping our bonds the dollar is going to devalue faster than Wall Street. The price of oil is going to skyrocket, again, and since gas is already going up, while oil is going down (?), I'm starting to stockpile stuff.
MichaelJacebson 3 years ago
"stockpile" what??like food or gas?
what is it that your gathering????
it doesnt sound like a bad idea=]
RubberDuckieXcore 2 years ago

It's not, Obama is just throwing money at his sponsors, that thief.
therealcaptobvious 3 years ago 2
He spends a lot of time talking about building the new "smart grid". This porkfest has $4.5 Billion for that, which is fine, except that to actually build the smart grid would require about $40 Billion.
At least the smart grid will be a long-lved capital asset that wil make electricity cheaper and employ a lot of idle construction workers.
It is one of the few good infrastructure ideas out there and they totally underfunded it to save government cattle (I mean employees).

Great vid,but it contains a certain song that keeps getting videos removed due to copyright... just a heads-up!
N37BU6 3 years ago
I used the live version, so the pattern match software misses it...
It is fair use anyway.
TheMouthPeace 3 years ago
The last video I saw have the audio removed was the live version, too... but they used the whole song. I don't know if that matters or not.
Notice I won't even type the name of the song... who knows what kind of filters they have ready to send up red flags?
Youtube is going downhill. I've had 4 videos removed for no apparent reason... not a single community guideline broken.
