  • I want to meet the writer who put together the NBA on NBC intros over the years and shake his hand. This stuff is to me as a writer what Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor are to Chris Rock as a comedian.

  • i miss them 90s..

  • just to think...every intro in the '90s that the bulls were in was talking abt a possible upset yet all six opposing teams failed to contribute to that...

  • NBA on NBC! Bring it back!

  • go terminator music.

  • 90's wat happened??!

  • @ravi253licious Jordan retired

  • Gives me chills! In the 90's there was nothing better in sports than the NBA on NBC. Bob Costas and Marv Albert were amazing. The NBA just isn't the same on ESPN or TNT.

  • That is an intro! God I miss the NBA on NBC!

  • Song at beginning?

  • @WashingtonGrove Terminator 2 score/theme

  • 1996 Sonics was one of the Greatest NBA Teams to never win a title, when you go back and watch how they played, how dominant Kemp and Peyton were as a duo, and especially their stifling team defense, you'll realize just how freakishly good this team was, and their record of 64 wins proved that case.

However sadly they went up against arguably the best NBA Team of all time, MJ was just on a mission this year after last season debacle and pretty much raped everyone in the league this season.

  • @TrueSephiros I agree with you totally. I liked the sonics.

  • ahh, i remember watching this on tape after i recorded this..i'm a knicks fan, but nba on nbc's intros were too good to not tape...now it's all here on youtube..thx for uploading...now with amare/felton duo for 2k11, it should be a much better season..i hope..GO KNICKS!

  • i made a ringtone out of the first 12 seconds.. i got the most kickass ringtone in the universe, lol

  • the prologue theme is soooo awesome man, nothing better to get you pumped up for an epic game! game 1 of the 97 finals also had it and yall remember how game 1 ended!!

  • LOL the Terminator song, NBC was classic.

    NBA on NBC > all

  • I have to say; The notion of the Greatest Upset of All Time is what I believed in at the time. As a Sonics fan, this series ripped my soul out. I never believed we were going to loose this series. WHY DIDN'T KARL HAVE GP ON MICHAEL JORDAN THE WHOLE SERIES???

  • 1) Jordan would've posted him up and had his way

    2) Foul trouble. Jordan Rules would've killed GP's playing time.

  • @Nebel64

I can't believe you thought your team was going to beat the greatest team of all time. I thought it was amazing that the sonics beat them twice. It was very nearly a sweep before they made a come back in the series.

  • @dukeheat

I was nine years old and a true fan!

  • @Nebel64

That's fine, no hard feelings. I have a lot of respect for that. I do hate that they are no longer the same franchise though. I don't understand why it would change to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The city isn't nearly as big as Seattle, which basicly means that there are probably fewer basketball fans are in Oklahoma City.

  • @Nebel64 i know how you feel as a knick fan it killed me knowing this man named jordan that came from our city killed us every expect 2 serise i think we won and one of them was without jordan

  • Kobe & the Lakers will go for #5 next June in 2010. NBA on TNT is just fine, but ESPN & ABC sucks!

  • I miss this NBA on NBC intro and music, it was the best!

  • yes it's was great intro by bob casto and music

  • And look how young Bob looks here, and now he has a plastic face.

  • "One man was largely responsible for this exquisite run of sustained excellence"

  • how about the terminator theme on the beginning ? :D

  • hahaha, thats so funny

  • Great players, great intro, great teams, great era. I miss the 90s...

  • @showtw agreed. The NBA will never see an era like this again.

  • Wasnt Jordan in the 1995 playoffs, but they lost to the Orlando Magic.

  • Yeah the Magic had Horace Grant (a former Bull) and Shaq so the Bulls couldn't beat them, so the next year the Bulls get defensive specialist Dennis Rodman.

  • i think it was more because jordan wasnt in basketball shape yet just coming back from playing baseball. Had Jordan had a full offseason to prepare for the 94-9 season they would have beat the Magic.

  • @Johnnywad89

    Yes, kid.

  • @Johnnywad89 He hadnt played basketball for 18 months he was rusty he came back to play the last 30 games & help the bulls make the playoffs he had unJordan like games scoring 17points 19points 22points & scored 55 on the knicks which was the best game he had during those games he had uncharacteristic moments where he missed easy shots and lost the ball on his own @ times. He wasnt prepared to go back & play & it was evident

  • @dafoo28

he wasn't that rusty, he scored 55points in MSG.

  • @Johnnywad89 no the intro was right abt his retirement. I use to think that too until I did some further research.

  • @Johnnywad89 yeah but he only played like 3 months in 95.96 was his first full season back.

  • NBA ON NBC! I miss those days...

  • Just for the record moving the sonics from Seattle was a horrible move David Stern & the NBA is horrible right now & ABC is doing a shitty job of with the NBA, the telecasts should be about basketball watch the old NBA telecasts on NBC, everything was blended so well around the theme of basketball.

  • how about attending their games to generate enough money for them? This wasn't a decision to piss off seattle fans... it was about $. IT was a god decision by stern, look at our economy now. If they wouldn't have moved before our recession they'd be fucked for a VERY long time

  • Houston Rockets? Respectable? The only reason they won was because Jordan retired. Look how many they won when he came back to full form. 0.

  • The Rockets may have not won the first championship if Jordan was in the league but you can't take away what Houston did the following year. Being the 6th seed and taking out the 4 best teams in the NBA to win the championship.

  • they wouldn't have won in 1995 either

  • Maybe, maybe not. That 1995 team was one of the worst Chicago Bulls teams in a long time. I don't think Jordan would have made much of a difference, they didn't have a good power forward during that time. Even then, it is absurd to try to diminish what Houston was able to accomplish.

  • even jordan said they might not have beaten houston if they played against them

  • Bulls- 6 titles

    Rockets-2

I notice Houston didn't win after Jordan got back into his form.

  • cuz they were in decline and other teams in the west emerged. the barkley trade actually messed up the chemistry of that team.

  • liweiwu007, I remembersaid it didn't matter who made it through to the finals, meaning it wouldn't heve made any difference!

And if Houston wanted to be in the finals that bad, they should've made their point by beating all opponents and makin it to the finals..........which they DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha, isn't this music from Terminator 2

  • Can someone please upload the extended intro of the NBA on NBC

for the 1994-95 season BEFORE MICHAEL JORDAN came out of

    retirement.

  • you gota love this intro!!! they don't make games like they used to i don't feel that same excitement as i once felt watching the nba it's still fun to watch though

  • The greatest intro in the history of American sports cause of the T2 intro + Bob Costas' narration followed by the nba on nbc theme. I clearly remember having my sound system all da way up n shattering a few ornaments cuz my 1st n 2nd teams were in da finals.

    Timeless.

  • some1 get the full promo 4 NBA on NBC, and get the starting lineups too, thanx.

  • man i remember being obsessed with the sonics when i lived in west seattle a sonics player even came to our school the day before they were playing kobe and shaq!

  • Those bastards can take our team but they can never take our MEMORIES...None of these old players are going to ever associate themselves with the Okies. Most have already said that, they still love the Seattle fans.

    Seattle Supersonics Forever...

  • such an amazing intro.. BRING BACK NBA ON NBC FFS!

Does anyone have this series and plan to upload it? My old VHS copies are shit now

  • Because copyright rules are ridiculous regarding content such as this. These broadcasts exist only in the houses of fans who recorded them , and the NBA vaults.

How about the NBA just sell these games on Itunes or something? I download a lot of crap for free , but I'd pay for that. Make millions.

  • Seattle is shit now. its gonna suck that they don't have a team any more.

  • u bet ur ass i wanted gary to win the title for seattle. with george karl.

  • These were the good old days. I wan't to buy full length games! I remember an old episode of NBA Inside Stuff that mentioned a vault somewhere. Why isn't NBA Entertainment allowed to sell copies to the public?

  • SAVE OUR SONICS!

  • Did the NBA ON NBC have the extended version of the 1997 and 1998 intro and if it did can somebody please upload all of them. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

  • No they stopped in 1996, but I just uploaded the special 1999 version

  • I miss NBA on NBC...love the T2 theme usage here

  • In the 80's, the NBA on CBS was on bomb! In the 90's, the NBA on NBC was on hit! This music brings back memories. When this song would play, it made you want to get up and play some ball! Bring this back and dump ABC please! Do Do Do Do Do Do!

  • lol. I was imagining a face half Terminator and half Jordan

  • So good. And with the 'Terminator' score... damn.

  • The Terminator theme was hot in this one

  • Couldn't agree more with all you guys. The NBA has lost something, it's just not the same.

  • I agree with you. Now I just watch it for the "game" and not the "pregame" hype you know

  • I don't think i said the pre game was better. I said the NBA. Back then you could actually play physical and foul hard without gettin thrown out of a game. Now u lay a hand on someone and it's a foul

  • true, I was watching the pistons/raptors game yesterday. there was a play where a raptor went for a layup and Stuckey barely grazed the guy's knee, and they call a foul on that shit??? man.... and this was on abc too ftw..

  • thanks for your input, greatly appreciated

  • NBA on NBC was the best era the NBA ever had

  • sooooooooo good.

brings back nothing but good memories about what basketball used to be.

  • See this intro? See how dramatic it is, and how it tells a story? Now compare this to the BULLSHIT that ABC shows you....fuckin pop music, country music, singing celebrities and whatever the fuck else. Just like EA sports, I wish ABC would just fuckin die (or relinquish the hold they have on my beloved sport).

  • I agree of what you said about the NBA being broadcasted by ABC Sports these last few years. Everything looks so fake and NBA games (especially playoff games) are not as exciting as it was in the 1980s and '90s. I myself is a Phoenix Suns fan, but the NBA these last few years have getting kind of boring. I think ABC Sports should terminate their contract with the NBA for next season and have a contract again with NBC Sports.

  • Idk if it's just the channel, NBA in general is pretty boring.

That's just in general though, teams like the Suns and Warriors are extremely exciting. I'm a Suns fan too(Warriors are my #2 team) and I just watch their games so I don't have to put up with games like Spurs vs Bucks.

They could use some more exciting commentators though...

  • great video, thanks for posting..

  • I hate how the media loves Lebron but he's nothing compared to Kobe, who's nothing compared to MJ and Sidney Crosby.

  • hey there,

if someone is reading it, and you have the nbc intro for game five on 1998 finals, PLEASE post it!

i would really appreciate it! thanks..

  • tell the guy names TRJ22487 he has everything

  • I get chills with Bob Costa's narration and the intro. Good ol' days

  • Same here, I literally get goosebumps watching these old NBC videos.

  • These were the end days when the best basketball players were considered role models.

now its all about bling, gangsters, niggz and hos. bluberrys that still connect and with yachts with triple decks. there are just some things that the past will never give back.

I'm glad I got to dream and watch the NBA and NJ unfold as a child. Now the new generation is busy with their i-this & i-that. they don't know what the f*ck is going on anymore.

  • What a great comment, I couldn't have said it better myself. I want to write an essay on this and how the media and kids nowadays are messing up sports. The NBA for example will never be the same because those MJ days in the 90s were the finite Golden Age for the NBA.

  • yeah i heard that. the nba in the 90s was the best ever.thats back when nba basketball was about winning ball games. now its about individual statistics,no one cares about their teams anymore. theres no rivalries in the nba anymore. theres no payton-kemp,jordan-pippen,stockton-malone,olajuwon-drexler,hardaway-oneal,ewing-starks,barkley-kj. the nba aint shit anymore.

  • I had heard this music around promotion of & on FOX's "Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles" debut episode.

  • they did a trance mix on this, its great

  • WHAT AN INTRO

  • what is the name of the first song

  • it's the theme from the movie Terminator 2. Great choice for this video. Better days gone by!

  • i know right, shit i fuckin miss da old days of da NBA,NBA On NBC was da shit, otha than football i always was lookin foward 2 sundays,da NBA now can neva top dat era again,in my opinion

  • why can't life be like those good old 90s days?

  • the 90's ruined me.

  • YES

    EXACTLY

  • NBA on NBC!!! ABC Sucks mike breen is a loser he is not close to bob costas or marv albert

This is the best sports theme of all time!! screw abc espn on abc and Monday night football on espn!

  • NBA on NBC and ABC College Football need to come back...simultaneously. Unfortunately, E$PN's running the show. Can't stand the E$PN on ABC crap...TNT is the only watchable NBA station

  • The SuperSonics are not leaving as long as I have something to say about it.

  • what were you planning to say??

  • Maybe I'm weak, maybe its the music. But my eyes become watered when I see this. I see two things, as one said before, how Godly the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls team was. The other thing I see, is Seattle losing a franchise with this history. This was a time when everyone in Seattle was behind their SuperSonics. Now, the franchise is leaving.

  • i feel the same way, except the seattle part b/c i dont really care for durant and the rest of the nonames on that team

  • Uh, hell yeah I'm ready. I hope we get Marv Albert, of course.

  • Any other year, that Sonics team is the champion.

They just ran into arguably the greatest NBA team in history (right there with 86 Boston, who beat my Rockets in the Finals that year).

  • the rockets were awesome that year, u ready for them to kick the lakers ass at staples tuesday night!!!

  • bob costas and marv albert ftw!

  • At 1:31 it says theses seattle supersonics step onto the nba's biggest stage for the first time. Try the third time dumbass. 1978, 1979(won finals), 1996

  • 1234-

I think he was talking about this generation of Seattle Sonics, not the franchise overall.

  • yeah. It's more like "these" supersonics.

  • I agree, NBA on NBC were the dayz!! If it wasnt for INSIDE THE NBA with Chuckster, Kenny and Earnie.. I swear I'd tune in only for the Finals.

  • How can you NOT love NBA on NBC.

I mean this is what I'm talkin about -- T2 music, DRAMA...

  • God, what gold. This is how you promote the NBA.

Hear that ABC/ESPN? NBC had people like Costas, Albert, Fratello, Enberg, Gumbel, etc. etc.

Who the hell does ABC/ESPN got? Mike Breen? Puh-lease.. and uh Jon Barry?? Wow.. how brutal.

  • and ABC's got those damn Pussycat Dolls doing their intros. As compared to the greatness that was Roundball Rock, that crap is lame.

If TNT loses the NBA I will flat stop watching the league altogether.

  • Be happy, because one of the problems ABC has fixed is..

    No More PCD!

Oh,and do remember that they were not the main theme song,it was the one ESPN used after making ESPN on ABC.Besides,ESPN on Wed+Fri+Playoff+Special Edition used 0% PCD!

  • whats pcd?

  • It starts with Pussycat and ends with Dolls.

  • this intro was a remake from the one nbc introduced in 1991. nbc's coverage of the nba was and always will be the best. abc's and espn's coverage stinks to say the least.

  • hey this is the Terminator 2 music.

  • Hey HRE, come on man, that's a little uncalled for. Stern's got himself in troubled waters now, so this should be the least of his worries. Still an idiot for signing with ABC....and the WNBA too, they're locked in until 2016, dunno if the league will be there in 2016 though.

  • awesome games the bulls and sonics in 96.. i love it

  • The moment David Stern first signed with ABC/ESPN, Someone brain-washed him to continue showing this piece of crap as long as he lived. SCREW U ESPN, you may have won the battle, but get ready for more record lows for the next 8 years.

  • Amen. FUCK DAVID STERN THE STUPID JEW MOTHERFUCKER.

  • LOL

  • That Bulls team was the best of all time. Also, please keep the team in Seattle!!!

  • I agree fully on both of your points.

  • these two team is a actually good mach up. shame sam pekins coould not step up

  • hopefully durant can help keep the sonics in seattle and make them relevant again

  • 7 of 8 of the players in the NBA on NBC intro part are Hall of Famers, the lone one out being Penny Hardaway. That is how good both the NBA was, and how it was marketed, I repeatedly call for Stern to resign or do something logical, like sign the TV deal with NBC.

  • MAN I MISS NBA ON NBC! thank god Marv Albert is still commenting! He's the best commentator!

  • ft. arnold schwarzeneger as terminator in "bulls, the intro" niccccce

  • I truly believe that the players back then would kick the collective behinds of today's players. Back then teams were truly hungry for a win; today's players go through the playoffs like robots. Back then there were truly suffocating defenses and players whose force of personality made us watch them on the court and off. Those days are now over.

  • wow.. this brings back soo many memories. Especially now since we're gonna lose the sonics! Ahhhhhh.. the players of then.. Jordan,Pippen, Payton, Stockton, Malone, Sir Charles, Ewing, Olajuwon, Drexler... Man.. miss those days.

  • NBA is going down the drain because the hip hop trash being brought in.Classy individuals are long gone. Now NBA has to market less talented thugs.

  • Even the players has more class back then, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Isiah, Robinson, Hakeem, Ewing, Stockton, Malone. Hell, even compared to the NBA stars of today, Barkley in his worst moments still had class. The NBA has gown down the toilet for good.

  • You know, hearing all you people's nostalgia about NBA on NBC really makes me think that we're all family on this video. No one was, is, or can be, as best as NBA on NBC. It epitomized the simplicity of the 90s. Blame the media who overpublicize so many athletes. Instead of having good-natured superstars who simply PLAYED and didn't run their mouths like MJ, we now have Melo, Bron, and high schoolers. Nothing was like the good old days, and I am sure you people agree with me- send me comments!

  • I know some people find Costas annoying but still love the way he could dramatize the intros... setting for a true Heavyweight battle with a nice storyline.

  • mmhh I agree....NBA from 80's & 90's was the GOLDEN AGE...nowadays NBA has not such emotional touch...

  • true, I had mistaken that team for a championship one. They also tied this 95-96 Bulls team for best (41-game) road record with 33-8.

  • This just makes me hate the NBA on ABC, ESPN, and TNT more. I miss the NBC days. Hell, I even miss the CBS days. Classic days long since gone.

  • Yea any other year those Sonics would have dominated for a championship. They just happened to make their Finals run the same year the Bulls toyed around with the whole NBA.

  • You could label them a new team. Only the two leaders and Phil were still there.

Now the Sonics did have the best record to not win a title, tied with the Jazz from next season and the Pistons of 05-06, but if you were pick a dynasty that never happened, it might be the mid-90s Suns.

  • Actually the record for most wins in a season by a non championship team is 68-14 by the 1972-73 Celtics 9Dave Cowens, John Havlicek, Jo Jo White).

And through the years there have been so many great teams that haven't won rings. Late 90's Jazz, 1993 Suns, early 90's Blazers, mid 90's Sonics, early 2000's Kings etc.

  • Late 80s Pistons too. Isiah's bad pass in 87, followed by the sprained ankle in Game 6 in 88 before they finally got over in 89.

Dominique Wilkins and the late 80s Hawks would toy with today's NBA, but back then they were only the fourth or fifth best team in their conference.

  • I have to disagree with The 80s Hawks toying with todays NBA. Back in the 80s except for the Pistons in the very late 80s, Defense sucked. Scores were a typical 130-120 everynight in the league. Now yes there was great offense but come on Defenses were soft then. Finally the Pistons propelled us into the 1990s Defensive-minded NBA yet there was still great Offense. Today is an amega since NBA allows Zone Defense now.

  • Only the young and ignorant think that defense in the 1980s was soft and sucked.

The high scores were a result of more talented players and much better overall team play. It was also largely possible because the players back then were more mature and team oriented.

Not only was handchecking LEGAL in the 80s, but actions such as elbows to the chest and face, forearms in the back, and hipchecking were very prominent and often went unpunished.

The 1980s NBA was known as "No Babies Allowed".

  • As great as the Celtics were back in the 80s they usually gave up a lot of points on Defense and it was a result of giving up a lot of fastbreak points. 80s were physical to despite the horrible Defense but the 90s takes the deacde of toughness and physicalness in NBA history. Usual scores in the 90s were 97-85. 80s=Fastbreak high flying offense. 90s=Grind it out Defense. Todays NBA=A little bit of everything but predominantly speed and finese game.

  • Fast break points were not merely a result of soft defense in the 80s. That's a common misnomer.

The defense in the 1980s NBA was anything but horrible. Looking at the final score of a game isn't going to tell you much except for the winner and loser.

You had to actually watch those games to know how tough they played.

Even the toughest teams in the league such as the Celtics, Pistons, and 76ers couldn't contain the high flying offenses.

  • I'm sorry but if a team fastbreaks and gets layups on you most of the time such as they did on each other in the 80s then how is that tough Defense??? And yes Points allowed is a big indicator of how tough your Defense was. The 1990 Bulls Title Teams were known for holding teams to about 90 PPG and these were great offensive teams in the 90s just like the 80s as well. Also, Pistons, Celts, and 76ers yes great teams but only one truly could hold teams to low PPG output and thats Detroit.

  • Again the NBA did not have SuperTough Defense comeback until the late 80 Pistons and that transitioned the NBA to a Offensive-minded game of the 80s to more of a Defensive-minded game of the 90s. And don't give me the excsue of "80s teams had great defenses but the offenses were just too much better". Well if thats the case then don't call yourself a great defensive team because great defenses can stop any offenses such as the 1990 Bulls Dynasty Defense.

  • You never did actually watch 80s basketball besides a few highlights right? Guys like Bird and Magic got elbow and whack to the head if going for a layup in the playoffs and just shot their FTs and the player that committed the foul just stayed on the court without being ejected. In the 90s it would be a few games suspension. Kurt Rambis getting clotheslined to the head in the 84 Finals was a very common tactic employed in the 80s, not so in the 90s with the flagrant foul rule.

  • And how is the 90s defense and play more physical and tougher? The flagrant foul rule was implemented in the 90-91 season, in the 80s superstar players like Bird, Magic and yes even Jordan really got roughed up if they went to the hole. As for the high scoring games, it's because the 80s players were more skilled in that they didn't jump to the pros form HS or going to college for 1 year. Guys could actually hit a mid range jumper, something most guys can't do today or the 90s.

  • Your statement is full of falseness. First of all their always have been flagrant fouls in Basketball, its part of the rules when it was invented. Plus you must have missed the brawls that spilled into the stands with Bulls-Knicks and Heat-Knicks in the 90s. When Rambis and those Celtic guys got into it man that looked like two girls swinging at each other. I have many game tapes from 80s and 90s. (TO BE CONT..).

  • Teams scored layups at will in the 80s and just because 1 out of every 15 times they wahcked someone you act like its great defense. If it were such good D then they would not need to last resort foul in the first place. Now yes great shooters such as Reggie Miller played in the 80s and many of them played in the 90s too but their PCTs. went down in the 90s because Defenses tightened up. And yes PPG allowed is a great indicator of how you play Defense. You think giving up 100 or more (TBC).

  • You think giving up 100 or more PPG is great Defense??? Please and stop using the "Offenses were too great abck then" excuse. True great Defenses like the Bulls in the 90s could AVG. holding teams down to 90 PPG if not lower and they played excellent offense as well (including Magic's Lakers in 90s, not the same but still same principals of fast pace ball). I mean when Rambis was fouled hard they made too big of a deal about it were in 90s its like "its cool, I'm gonna just get up."

  • Now we all could keep arguing but my point orginally was to diversify the two decades. 1980s=High powered Offense in the NBA. 1990s=Hard-Nose Championship Defense. One was more Offensive-minded and one was more Defensive-minded. Todays NBA is a mix of the two but Zone Defenses are bad for the game in my opinion.Teams get too lazy with it. Watching tapes of the 80s games they never seemed to call illegal Defense when guys zoned up so many times.90s you had to move your feet to cover ground.

  • you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. The defense back in the 80's as juset as much if not more physical than the d in the 90's. With the Pistons, and Celtics defensive they used to physically beat you. A lot of the teams were like that in the 80's and the refs would let it go. The reason Rambis made such a big deal out of being hit by McHale is because they felt it was intentional to physically harm him. Dirty play you have no idea what your talking about go watch hockey

  • Pistons yes they did physically beat you down but the Celtics???? Uhm, No. The Celtics beat you with their great offensive continuity, ball movement, and desire. But they were not known as a tough defensive team. Using 1986 for exaple, their best team of the 80s, they gave up 104 PPG. I am sorry great defenses do not give up over 100 PPG. However, they made up for it on offense. And Rambis/McHale fight was pathetic compared to English/Harper fight of 1994.

  • where can i find that game with the english harper fight of 94

  • Of course there has always been hard and dirty fouls in basketball, but here's the thing it was allowed and it was pervasive, while the 90s it was discontinued and there was something called the flagrant foul rule to prevent it. This happened during the 90-91 season. Anyone with basketball knowledge knows this you can google it up since I can't post the link here.

  • That Bulls-Knicks fight went into the stands for crying out loud. Also I watched many Laker-Celtics 80s games and there were games that Celtics gave up nearly 70 FASTBREAK POINTS---Yeah there is great Defense. And no don't say "Give them a break Lakers just too good." I think after giving up at least 20 Fast Break PTS a team could figure out that you need to get back in transition. 90s Bulls combined I bet never gave up that many FastBreak PTS in all their Championship Years.

  • And my statements are full of falseness, kid you only watch basketball in the 90s during MJ's reign, I've watched it during BIrd and Magic's reign. Magic and Bird got clotheslined from time to time in the playoffs, during Michael's reign that didn't happened in the 90s. Do you remember the famous Mchale clotheslined of Kurt Rambis in the 84 Finals? That was prevalent in the 80s, you can watch it here on youtube. Only a kid like you would say the 90s were tougher and more physical.

  • Jordan got his share of hard fouls too but he got up and either got int he guys face or took it out on him by schooling him more. As for the 90-91 Flagrant Foul thing, that rule was there because of what the BAD BOY Pistons did (bridge from late 80s to early 90s) but Pistons played more 90s type of ball since they were Defensive-minded. As for me watching your girl fight of Rambis-McHale, how about you watch Knicks-Bulls brawl in 94, thats when benches could clear and get into it.

  • The Rambis-Mchale thing happened to players that were agressive going to the hole, happened to Magic, Bird, Dr J, Isiah, etc. Michael's 90s era? He wouldn't get touch because of the flagrant foul rule. The Knicks Bulls 90s playoffs were nothing compared to the Pistons-Celtics, Celtic-Lakers, 76ers-Lakers, 76ers-Celtics playoff games. Anyone that has watched seasons worth of games in the 80s would never call the 90s or even today's NBA as "physical", it's only the kiddies that does it.

  • this was the best time for the nba now its okay but it aint like before

  • Indeed. The NBA from the 80's to mid 90's was HOT! Now it's lukewarm. The magic and mystique that had me glued to the tv is not there. I believe the athletes in the NBA now have more raw talent, but the character and pride for one's team(city) is sorely lacking.

  • to label the bulls a "new" team is kind of misleading by costas.

  • Best team in history to not win an NBA Finals. Those Supes were the greatest team that ever played in this town. They got to the mountain but couldn't get over Mt. Jordan...Few could.

    Damn Wally Walker...And Jim McLsuck.

  • Best theme song of all time...for any sporting event

  • greg scheffler was a baller

  • It was Steve Scheffler, not "Greg".

Loved the Key when the Supes led by 20 with 2:00 left in the game.

    Schieffffffflllllerrrrr, Schiefffffffllllerrrrrr

When that chant started...Well...It was like Na, Na, Na, Na in any other city.
