No imagine you're having sexytime with your gf, thinking that you're hidden somewhere between the trees and then... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR a BO105 flies 20 inches over your heads...
All I can say is, the best ship to do it in is a BO105. Half of me is pea green with envy of the pilot for the fun he's having. The other half is envious of his nads.
I flew it when I was the unoffical head of the CIA and got hold of some bad weed. If you believe that, then I have some swamp land for sale down here in Florida. I also walked on the moon in the 1950s and if you believe that, then your got hold of some bad weed. ------- bad weed is really not, all that bad!
Note: In the Bundeswehr a "Schwarm" oder Flight for the english speaking guys consists nowadays of 4 Bo105. In the old days it consisted of 7 Bo105 and the armament is 6 HOT not TOW.
@stu303art it's a known fact among army helicopter pilots of that era. my uncle was a helicopter pilot based in celle and later in bueckeburg. he took part in the development of the PAH and, later until he retired, of the PAH2.
Its the LOW G jumps over those trees that are the most amazing thing, try one of those moves in 85% of any other helicopters out there and the main blades chop the tail or the head off.
Does anyone know when this video was made? It seems modern, but the film look and music make it seem like mid to late 70s. Great soundtrack and amazing flying! :)
Yeahhh! It's amzing, what a high level of agility this old german Helicopter shows in its performance!!!! This time, it's a german Heli, getting honors from the audience!!!! :-)
Its not quite a tree yet, still looks like a sapling/bush. the post makes it sound like a serious impact when he was just trimming the hedges (lol). Although I must agree with the conclusion; Un-frikin-believable.
No, it's a natural dry valley of the river Isar in the "Teufelsgraben" (devils ditch) near Holzkirchen, Germany. It's not far from Ottobrunn, where the MBB company was located. Now its a Subdivision of Eurocopter.
If you look close you'll see that the film was cut together an if you have a look at the satellite picture you'll be definately sure that its not an round course.
one of the best videos showing alot of skill and craziness that any chopper pilot could want to muster up. if this pilot was killed, at least this video gives the world the chance to remember him and his ability to push to the limit of helicopter flying.
sure enjoyable to watch from both on the ground AND in the pilot's seat. breathtaking!
gotta love this machine, my favourite over the as350. Like wrenching on an old truck. Try those pushovers with a 500 or old long dog and youll lose the tail for sure lol
what I like about this is MBB machine is that this helicopter has been used in Germany as civilian save-and-rescue helicopter, which makes German engineering worthwhile. it's not only about war mongering and war profiteering
I would not be surprised if this pilot is Karl "Charlie" Zimmermann.
He was at the German Army and in charge to test the Bo105 for the Army.
Well, he found out what was possible with the - at that time - brand new rotor "system Bölkow" (rigid rotor hub).
He was world champion for helicopter aerobatics a few times and probably one of the first guys who flew a looping with a helicopter; the Bo105 was the first helicopter that was able to do that.

The pilot of this flight was not Karl (Charlie) Zimmerman, but Wilfried von Engelhard, a former testpilot of MBB.
This Video was taken by MBB in the mid sixties for demonstration of the perfomance of the helicopter.
